Great set of photos! I think I could go back and spend a day just on the War Memorial area alone. The engraved "letters to home" were really poignant, glad you gave them tribute. Indianapolis has some real architectural gems but my impression was there are an awful lot of Brutalist eyesores. Not all Brutalist buildings *are* eyesores but they had some doozies. Unfortunate to see their tallest also got the logo treatment :-\- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
The Butler County project in question is Liberty Center - their added tax is .5%. http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/business/funding-finalized-for-mega-retail-project-liberty-/njLtT/ And please, let's not have this thread get derailed - especially to discuss a mayoral run by Zack Reed.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info

If someone had told me this back in the day when my friends and I were jamming to Boogieman Smash and the Februarys, I never would have believed them.- Cleveland/Parma urbex
Welcome to UrbanOhio - if you'd like suggestions for areas to check out, I can help with that and when the weather improves, we may try to organize a walking tour. If you mean 'urbex' as in exploring abandoned sites, that's not my cup of tea. I respect those who enjoy it and there are great images to be had, but it's not for me. You may want to reach out to Sherman Cahal[/member] and smith[/member] - Sherman isn't in northeast Ohio but he takes some great pics of abandoned buildings. I lived in the building about ten years ago, in a smaller one bedroom. As an older building, the units are on the smaller side; I wouldn't recommend the studio units - small even by studio standards. Otherwise decent layouts and some units have interesting architectural features. One complaint would be the noise (footsteps on hardwood) between floors - if they can get a 4th floor unit, it wouldn't be an issue. Not sure if management or ownership has changed - when I was there, no complaints about management/maintenance. Hope that helps.- Cleveland: Retail News
Big Fun is closing their Clifton Boulevard location.- Cleveland - Architectural Lighting discussion
Ehh, that reminds me a little too much of the Bank of America building in Dallas - appropriate for a place that celebrates gaudy but not so much for Cleveland. I think maybe just limit the lighting on Tower at Erieview to the cornice and that would be enough for it to stand out. I'd like to see One Cleveland Center have some modest floodlighting to show off its angles:- Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
That's the impression I got - in October, he emailed me to see if I had any photos of the site he could use for renderings. Typically, I ask clients to make a donation to one of my preferred 501c3 groups (in lieu of a licensing fee), and it turned out what I had wouldn't work based on angles/perspectives but he still offered to make a donation regardless.- Cleveland: Downtown: Millennia's Garfield Bldg & HQ Developments

My first apartment in Cleveland proper was in 1998, in the Edison (3199 West 14th); top floor, north facing had awesome unobstructed view of downtown. Great to hear they're polishing it up.- Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News

They got it right by pairing down the hops and water references, but the typeface mashup... not working for me. They've switched from Times New Roman (severely horizontally scaled) to Birch (and tweaked some of the elements) which isn't a bad font, but as natininja pointed out, it's not enough of a departure to read as "NEW AND IMPROVED!". And it's too early for me to figure out the san serif font but it's not the best match for Birch. Ah well, I *still* love Burning River Pale Ale and as long as they leave that alone, it's all good. EDIT: And crap, now I need to update my avatar after how many friggin' years?!?- Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
