    Would a weekday lunch work?
  4. Just went by, saw four boring/drilling trucks on the site.
  5. ^^ So where were his parents or guardians?
  6. Have any of you ever followed a construction project from proposal to fruition and *ever* seen initial budget projections match the final outcome?
  7. Yep, the devil is in the details - unfortunately the 12 year old died but of course, "where are the parents"?

Interesting shots - what's the story on the 'industrial skyscraper'?
  9. It's mostly due to timing with the show going into syndication.
  10. It's a legitimate discussion, just not for this thread.
  11. This is getting off topic.
  12. As a massing model, that's pretty good - but hopefully the final product isn't *quite* as Darth Vader-esque ;-)

Don't know about I-90, but the stretch of Ontario from Huron to Lorain-Carnegie is substantially worse during the evening rush hour, and I'm guessing the various closures have added to that. I'm sure a bad winter weather day will be a real hoot - when I say that, I mean someone needs to lose their job. I'm all for traffic calming where it's appropriate but whoever decided to remove the short street that allowed for southbound traffic on Ontario to veer right south of Eagle Avenue to connect with Lorain should have their head examined, especially with the Columbus Road bridge being closed until December. Instead of a small and short *functioning* 'reliever' street for Ontario, we now have a desolate and unused 'pedestrian plaza' decorated with litter and the occasional CPD car parking spot. Then there's the closure of the right lane(s) on the Ontario on-ramp as ODOT takes their good old time painting the current bridge, and the lack of signage on Ontario southbound to indicate that BOTH of the right lanes take motorists onto the Innerbelt. It's ODOT, I should be used to incompetence, but they continue to impress me ;-)

Is there a 'proper' term for the following guys haircut: shaved short on sides and back, top is super-greased/slicked semi-pompadour, usually flattened to one side? It's usually accompanied by facial scruff, skinny-ish jeans, thick-framed glasses and a modicum of plaid on a shirt. Some guys can rock it, others... did their stylist *not* offer them an alternative?
  15. I suppose there's space for something like that but I don't see that happening.
  16. ^658 :-)
  17. Did they say Cleveland's THIRD tallest building?!?
  18. The optimistic side of my cautious optimism just got bumped up a little with the new massing.
  19. ^I can't imagine they wouldn't - I'd love it if they did something similar to the Higbee Building - casino or not, it looks fantastic at night. What I also wouldn't mind is if they changed the existing "9" and "Metropolitan" signage to something more sans serif (and far more appropriate to a Breuer design) such as this rendering (but that's just a one-time comment, no need to go off-topic with it):
  20. The fall is one of my favorite times of year, especially for photography - the humidity is lower, the sun is lower in the sky so the lighting is a little more dramatic. Then there's the leaves changing color and a return to comfort food... and it was a great October, hope you enjoy: Starting off with a short driveby in the area of Edgewater Park: Back downtown we go: Mariners Watch apartments getting closer to completion in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood: Like I said - dramatic lighting: Morning fog pops up every now and then: Of course, an annual trip to Lakeview Cemetery is in order: Remember what I said about the morning fog? Yeeeah, not so keen when I'm trying to get a good photo from the Garfield Monument - ah well: Work progressing on the Mayfield Road Rapid station: A few shots from around Uptown: Over to the Cleveland Museum of Art: I think there was some sort of conservation training going on - this and other statues had teams applying different treatments: I had the pleasure of working with the folks at LAND Studio to co-lead a downtown-focused architecture and public art walking tour. It was a little early in the morning so I figured I'd get a few shots before the event started: Later, a trip over to the Cleveland Clinic - a few pics en route: The skylounge at the top floor of the Miller Family Pavilion with a great view of the city. Unfortunately the heating plant is located directly in line with the view and the plumes from the stacks don't make for the most crisp shots: Back down to earth and back to the west side - specifically Rocky River: We grabbed lunch at the regrettably located Rocky River Brewing Company - on Center Ridge Road with its hodgepodge of strip plazas. Fortunately our next destination (Rocky River Park) was well away from that. The area adjacent is about as 'bucolic old-school suburb' as it gets, imho: Here we are - it was chilly and breezy but that made for some dramatic waves: Time to head home, back through Lakewood's West End area: Back downtown, work is plugging along on the Schofield Building: So glad this was fixed - the 'Mondrian-esque' windows of the former Cleveland Trust Tower: Over to the construction site for the new Hilton Convention Center hotel: Just a few random shots on a really crisp day: Of course, I had to take photos of the Cavs home opener - I'm not the biggest sports fan but I can appreciate what it means for the city when they do well, and especially for this day. The energy downtown was just electric and even though they didn't win, it was great to see all the people out and about. I made the mistake of trying to walk through East 4th Street - it was so crowded I kid you not, it took me 15 minutes to walk from Prospect to Euclid. Fortunately people were relatively well behaved but while I want to see more foot traffic, this was nuts! This was absolutely insane to see - in all my years, I have never seen parking garages/lots charge *this* much for a special event: It was a little chilly so the 5th Street Arcades and The Arcade made for a nice spot to get out of the cold and crowds: East 4th Street still hopping: Love the exterior lighting on the buildings around East 4th and Euclid - love the interior lighting in the former Cleveland Trust Tower :-) And of course, gotta love this - hope you enjoyed:
