    I'll have a batch this weekend :-)

"I said the cause was a good one and, in fact, encouraged the exploitation of these guys. You all just gloss over that to go on the attack and try to frame me as one of them"" No one suggested you are "one of them" - but as you said yourself, there is a disconnect because you don't experience that kind of harassment on a regular basis. Whether that means you don't buy the video as fact or sincerely can't relate - it's a disconnect. As Mendo rightfully said, there's a reasonable amount of skepticism and "okay, what REALLY happened?" for anything out on the interwebs. Maybe it's not a disconnect but a sad statement about society - a woman with curves wears a fitted but perfectly modest outfit of jeans and a t-shirt and *that* makes her a "good strategy" for bait?

"Is there something written across her butt? There was some comment about that, I thought I heard." She's wearing American Eagle jeans - they don't typically do a billboard-sized logo on their jeans. Even if they did... so what? You said she's stacked... so she can't wear properly fitted clothes? I know there are certain cultures who take that view to an extreme. She's not wearing anything a guy wouldn't wear on a regular basis so it's not like she's out wearing a corset, hot pants and stilettos - even if she did... "Of course I don't experience it on a daily basis. I'm a dude, dude." Maybe that's an idea? Have "dudes" get subjected to various levels of what women deal with, by other dudes. It would be everything from "um okay, that's a sweet thing to say", "gee, thanks but no thanks?" to "you just need to get the f#ck away from me" or "meet my good friend, Taye Zer". I have a feeling that might change a few dudes' perspectives  (just to clarify, the wink is a non-threatening and non-harassing wink).

I have removed some posts from this thread and the offending comments are being addressed.
  5. Might just be painting...? On another note I saw a few trucks with what looked to be crane components parked outside Progressive Field on Ontario. I'm guessing for the improvements to the stadium?
  6. ^Considering Stark's project was announced in August of this year, I would doubt that as well - because it's completely unrealistic in the world of commercial real estate. To put things into perspective - the Hudson Yards site on the west side of Manhattan was first 'picked' as a potential development site in 2005 and nine years later, construction is finally underway.

I think it speaks more about the candidate than the publication.
  8. When I was in the Pearl District (2011), the main drag reminded me a lot of Cleveland's Old River Road on the east bank of the Flats with old-school brick warehouses and highway bridges in the distance (Main Avenue Bridge, anyone?). The periphery of the district reminded me of the West bank with a new condo tower interspersed with brick warehouses. For new construction, I'd say a good amount were very well executed and not just 'new tower plopped down'.
  9. They know now  and it makes me hesitant to post photo updates here or possibly making the world's most obnoxious watermark for my images. Guess it needs to be said again - tell your friends: use of a photo for a commercial purpose (including on a social media site) without permission is a violation of federal copyright laws.
  10. This thread is being unlocked - please note this is NOT the place for speculation on IKEA opening in northeast Ohio or the merits or lack thereof of IKEA products.
  11. From the Miller Pavilion at the Cleveland Clinic: Street level view:

Great photos - looks like Jefferson County's courthouse has a fraternal twin (or used the same hapless architect for the addition):
  13. I've split the hotel branding/operations comments into a separate thread in Ohio Business and Economy. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=29674.0 Let's keep *this* thread for actual construction/development discussion of the 9/Metropolitan. Thanks!

Actually none of the towers depicted were ever planned; that rendering has been going around the interwebs for years.

At some point, I'll put together a full thread but thought this was a little different:
  16. Tremont proper includes the areas south of 490; if you're only talking about the designated historic district north of 490 and east of West 14th, your assessment isn't too far off.

    1. I would be thrilled if it was blocked by the new Ferrari building. 2. I (and many other Clevelanders) would likely sh!t a brick if it ever gets blocked by the new Ferrari building.
  18. No, not referring to gun violence or celebratory drinks, but where did the month of September go? Well, I tried to get a few pics before it goes away. A quick detour in the Federal Reserve Bank - note, it's not a branch but one of the twelve main banks in the system. It's open Monday-Thursday 11am to 1ish - highly recommend a visit and if you have kids there's an interactive 'money museum': Over to the West side for a brief trip: Then over to the Superior Viaduct - I guess Spaces gallery won't be moving over to the 'Hingetown' area any time soon; I still love their signage on the old building, though. The next two are shots of historic buildings in need of repurposing: And one that's doing just fine, thank you! Over to Gordon Square for an appointment - I was way too early so I walked around a little: This church was having a Romanian/Transylvanian festival - let's just say some festivals are more festive than others and leave it at that. The area is still pretty mixed-use but new housing seems to be popping up everywhere: Most people have heard of Cleveland's Little Italy near University Circle but there's a small west side enclave in the area: It makes a better colander or cheese grater than a bus shelter. Ah well, pardon the mini-rant - at least there's this view for chilling out: This view isn't too shabby either - and you can see where the new Hilton will (kind of) fill a small gap on the skyline: Next up - possibly one of my new favorite spots in the city, the recently completed Scranton/Flats section of the Towpath Trail. I'm almost hesitant to get the word out because it was a real treat to have it almost to ourselves but it really is a special place. It's only about 3/4th of a mile but they've managed to do a lot with it and to think it used to be dilapidated buildings and junk and now? Well, take a look for yourself - and if you have the chance while the weather's good, check it out - I think you'll enjoy it. Eagle Avenue bridge - the first of the lift bridges in the Flats: Still an area in transition but trust me, worth the visit: I'm sure you've seen the sites that 'expose' the hotel photos that are selectively cropped or shot at an angle to obscure less-photogenic elements? We can do that here: It was clouding up and then started to get sunnier - can't believe we've had so many consecutive days with great weather: Work continues to connect other sections of the Towpath Trail as well as connections to local neighborhoods. Just think - one day, we'll be able to indulge in a plate or two of pierogis from Sokolowski's (building on the top of the hill on the right) and walk/bike/run it off right outside their door :-) Time to make our way back, but then... My keen-eyed partner spotted - you got it, a big ore freighter making its way up the Cuyahoga :-) A group of people nearby lamented the crew weren't waving back - well folks, this guy is making sure a 634 foot freighter doesn't have a fender bender. I got the 'half-wave' and I'm okay with that. Hope you enjoyed!

The frustrations you're dealing with aren't unique to Cleveland or the Latino communities but if you have a good business model and product and a good dose of ambition, you'll succeed in spite of that :-) With that, I *love* a good empanada but when I see the Fired Up Taco Truck, I know I can only have one of their chorizo empanadas (with the lime cilantro sauce of course) because they aren't the best thing for my waistline. Feel free to post updates here, I think this is a good spot for this thread and best of luck to you.

^In all seriousness, the good people at Fonthill Media are way ahead of you - I'm under contract to author my second book and the subject is (you guessed it) "before and after" photos of downtown Cleveland. I'm trying to get it all put together by next summer so it prints in time for the 2015 holiday season. :-) I know they're hoping for a historic slant on the 'before' shots but maybe they'd be cool with a few current but still 'before' shots mixed in? "how i wish that the Dollar Bank bldg (original name?) was still around" True story - at one point there was a proposal to convert that building into residential use and my partner was *this* close to buying one of the units. Ah well.
  21. For a short trip, you managed to get some great shots - mind if I ask what you shoot with?
  22. Ah yep, that would make sense!
