clevelandskyscrapers.com - Site update and redesign
Yeah, I try to find the balance of a nice image that shows just enough detail, but isn't so large that I'll be seeing it on a billboard because someone ganked it without permission. As far as the other suggestions, I can definitely look into that with the help desk - a lot of it is probably template defaults but it sounds like they can do tweaks without much hassle.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
There was equipment partially blocking a sidewalk on Euclid the other day - for a split second I was about to go into "for f#cks sake, move the d@mn..." and then remembered how long I've waited to see these buildings getting rehabbed :-)

clevelandskyscrapers.com - Site update and redesign
Thanks again everyone for your feedback - some more thoughts: "looks good - if you still can maybe add a section of screenshots of the original version too for historical purposes/fun? The original was there for FOURTEEN years... it had cobwebs thicker than silk dupioni blackout drapes. I'm not a native Clevelander, so I keep the sappy nostalgia to a healthy minimum :-) "The header photos are a bit grainy when seen at 1920x1080 on a 27" monitor." Over the years, I've sent out more 'cease and desist' communications than I'd care to count. The images look decent on my desktop setup and my iPad Mini - I don't see any reason to go higher-res than that. "On a desktop browser at 1920x1080 the home page isn't long enough to justify a scroll bar, and so as is the convention with browsers these days the bar is hidden. However, when you scroll over "200' TO 350'" the list is long enough to extend the page and reintro the scroll bar causing all of the text to re-justify to the new center." How would one go about fixing that, or more specifically... is that one I send along to the help desk at Squarespace? On mobile (5 and 7 inch devices running at around 1920x1080) 30-40% of the time when I'm trying to select a menu item I bring up the magnifier, because the browser isn't sure which menu item I was attempting to select." See my reply to the previous question :-)

CLEVELAND - Whiskeying away our day in court, with a tiny bit of Courage
Okay, it's early and my coffee is still kicking in - here are some photos, mostly of the Cuyahoga County Courthouse and Whiskey Island. Starting right off with the Cuyahoga County Courthouse - part of the Daniel Burnham Group Plan of 1903, it took about seven years to build. It's located at the northwest corner of the Group Plan area - Cleveland City Hall occupies the northeast site. Both are similar in scale but the courthouse sports a more decorative facade with Ionic columns and statuary above the north and south pediments representing historical figures in law: Remember the movie 'The Avengers'? The scene where Loki comes striding down a grand staircase and grabs a guy for his retinal scan? This is that grand staircase - you don't mind if I take a few shots, do you? :-) Alright, it's just a staircase, let's move on to the mezzanine level: Well what do you know, it's the staircase again! :-D Next up, just some random shots of downtown Cleveland - mostly on lunch breaks: Remember the part about a tiny bit of Courage in the title? As I was walking around the Convention Center's overlook, I noticed some people filming (not uncommon this time of year) but then I saw *who* they were filming. Turns out they were working with Lily Rose Lee (fka Michelle Knight) - I didn't want to pry and kept my distance, I just hope she's happy and being taken care of. Let's get out of downtown - a quick photo of the ongoing demolition of the former Innerbelt bridge: And finally over to Whiskey Island - specifically Wendy Park: The area, and the Cuyahoga River in general have been cleaned up a lot since the city's darkest days but there's still a lot of work to be done. A huge kudos to the people who were doing a clean-up that day; a hopeful 'gutting like a fish' to the people doing the illegal dumping. :whip: Always a treat to see watercraft - in this case, Victoriaborg, one of the container ships from Wagenborg Shipping - http://www.wagenborg.com/en/our-equipment/fleetlist/victoriaborg As the Victoriaborg makes its way into port, there's a little bit of everything to see - nature, boats, people, architecture; my undiagnosed ADHD goes into overdrive every time I come here :-) Ah, one day it would be great to see the former Coast Guard station repurposed: Just when I thought I'd call it a day, the Sam Laud comes churning down the Cuyahoga  Okay, I know this has been quite a "set" And I hope we all learn to see the forest city for the trees :-)

Thanks everyone! @Pugu, good point and something I debated; I might make a "this section includes..." header for each section. @Clueless, those fall under the 'coming soon' category :-)

clevelandskyscrapers.com - Site update and redesign
Thanks guys! @ColDayMan - all in good time; I'm still getting the Cleveland sections up to speed @ryanfrazier - yeah, I'm debating on what I should have as those sub-section banner images. For the home page, I'm wondering if it would help if I added some blank space to the top of the image? @ChiCleveKid - that's how the template I selected lists the sections but you're right - I'm going to check with Squarespace to see if they can tweak that.

clevelandskyscrapers.com - Site update and redesign
I guess this could go in quite a few sections on the forum - as some of you know, I'm the owner and webmaster of clevelandskyscrapers.com - and it had been in dire need of a revamp. The old version was put together in 2000 with my meager knowledge of HTML and frames. It did the job for a while but wasn't mobile-friendly, was tedious to update, etc. I finally got to a point where I was able to transfer the framework onto Squarespace's template - I think it's a lot cleaner, obviously mobile-friendly, etc. I'm still adding content (especially in the Buildings 200' and under section) and getting other ideas but I was hoping some of you might be interested in taking a peek, kicking the tires, let me know what you think (positive or negative) clevelandskyscrapers.com Thanks! :-)

Unfortunately, allergy season is wiping me out today but feel free to meet up. Or we could retry for next week.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I don't know him personally, just from interactions as a Tremont resident but my impression is - he doesn't discriminate when it comes to being a 'fly in the ointment'. I think this recent incident with the art gallery might be a bit of overkill, but he's also helped residents get rid of places that were genuine cesspits.

^With the fonts they've selected, why even bother with that? I never work for free but this is one case where I'd happily donate my services so my eyes don't bleed every time I look at this. For god's sake, it's a Breuer-designed landmark, at the very least use a sans serif font like Helvetica Neue or Futura. It's the typographic equivalent of people who buy an ultra-modern condo and furnish it with faux-Tuscan overstuffed crap.

Cincinnati (2014, part three)
If you don't mind my sincere questions - I noticed with some pics you've corrected the keystoning/perspective and others you haven't. Just wondering 1. what method you use and 2. what criteria do you use to decide which images get corrected?

CLEVELAND - Downtown Forum Lunch Meet - July 30th or July 31st? (see last page)
Okay folks, just throwing out the suggestion of another lunch-time forum meet - any opinions on next Thursday, May 8th? I'm thinking Market Cafe at East 9th/Chester again but I'm open to other spots - just have to watch the weather forecasts this time of year.

Hipsters
"It was in a way your only way to see other parts of the world, aside from movies shot overseas and perhaps watching international sporting events aired on ABC's Wide World of Sports." CNN's Style with Elsa Klensch or 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous' Edited to reflect my perspective, and it didn't hurt that Dave Kendall was too cute (fake hair or not) and had a sexy accent (fake or not) which was really pronounced when he was introducing a new video by the Hoodoo Gurus. :-) Then that Kennedy came along and ruined it. :x
