And considering the great weather we've had (after such a brutal winter) it's about d@mn time I post some photos - mostly Cleveland, a little Towpath Trail. Here's some happy warm weather music to enjoy while the pics load: Watch where yer pointing that thing! Is this building's rehab *ever* going to happen? Briefly taking it up a notch (aka going to Cleveland Heights) Operative word, briefly - back downtown we go - first to the Arcade: Over to Playhouse Square: Coming this week - the world's largest outdoor chandelier - hey, better than a ball of twine! :-D Ah well, it's always good to get out of the concrete jungle every now and then. I'm nursing a minor knee injury so no rugged hikes, the Towpath Trail will have to do: I know there are plenty of places to access the trail but somehow Peninsula always wins out - could have something to do with being able to have a few Dortmunders and then hitting the trail. Speaking of - when we were at the Winking Lizard, they had a limited selection of taps - but fear not, they're adding on to bring the total to 36 :-) One of these times we'll check out the choo-choo: Industrial ruins  Her'on de Towpath, one often sees herons... get it? :yap: If it walks like a ... oh for crying out loud, I'll stop with the comedy: Red-winged blackbirds - pretty sure it was mating season since they were all screeching like banshees: Turtles and Turnpike shots: Glaring grackel: Snacking squirrel: Note to others, this is a six-spotted tiger beetle (ecologically beneficial), not an emerald ash borer: Time to lock up this trip ... d'oh! Yet another pun  Would I love to get this shot at night, 28 miles south of downtown? Sure. Would it likely be my last as I'd have to set up in the berm on the turnpike bridge? Superbly Superior: I think it was 55F when I took this - but after a brutal winter, I think most people would look for any reason to be outside: Yes, yes I do - not that it's ever been easy :-) Remember when this was all pawn shops, wig shops and the only full-time residents were the cockroaches in the Wendys at East 4th and Euclid? PleasePleasePlease let the May Company building get rehabbed soon: Deconstruction of the old Innerbelt Bridge - more on that later: The Columbus Road bridge in pieces/parts: The opening/lighting ceremony is this Friday - hope the weather cooperates: Death to the dead zone on Euclid: Flats East Bank isn't exactly flattened anymore: A view soon to be blocked by 374 feet of Hilton glassiness: But lets give some love to the Marriott: Oh alright, Key Tower too: Standard Building wants in on the action: A convention center done right: Perk Park, perking up for spring... aw geez, sorry folks. Playhouse Square - amazing how busy this little stretch has become: Let's not get bogged down by details... no, I think we *should* It's all starting to get rather pedestrian if you ask me: Again, PleasePleasePlease let the 925 Euclid building get rehabbed soon: It'll be interesting to see this little stretch of roadway (Ontario Street) get eliminated in the re-unification of Public Square: It's getting late, someone might want to take the lead... d'oh!!! Okay, I mentioned the old Innerbelt bridge - here are some pics from University Road in the Tremont neighborhood: Playhouse Square's 'mini-skyline': West 3rd bridge - after being rehabbed/closed/rehabbed/reopened, it's now up and running... well, up if a ship is coming through, down if there's not... oh for pity's sake you know what I mean! A quick trip to Malibu - nah, just a very contemporary-styled home. Sticks out like a sore thumb and I approve :-) Some of the infill is a little more in context with the older homes in the neighborhood: Even so, it's a toss-up between the modern and traditional: This sums it up pretty well: Over to Professor Avenue, the main commercial strip of Tremont: "Dendrite" - a newly installed sculpture marks the intersection of Professor/Fairfield/West 10th. But... what if he has to blow his nose? :wtf: This pic shows how close the area is to downtown, and why buried utilities are a thing of beauty: Still a smidge chilly but people are enjoying the sunshine: No Guinness for this guy: The pizza shop/bar of choice for Captain America and the Black Widow (Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson were spotted here during the filming of 'The Avengers') New and old, that's Tremont for ya: Gonna let this thread ride on out - hope you enjoyed!
  2. MH is correct - there's probably some overlap but his assessment is accurate.

^Chicks that were in bands often featured on MTV's 120 Minutes back in the day.

It's a nod to my birthday :-) As to Mov2Ohio's point - I agree, even if we (there's that word again!) know what's happening, the word needs to get out.
  5. Great news - that's one gap that has *really* been needing filled on Prospect.

Random fact I just learned - D'Arcy is also a May Day baby :-) Love Mikki Berenyi and Lush, even though I could never understand any of the d@mn lyrics.

"Sorry...no we bulldozed that and let it sit vacant for 10 years....." I think it would help tremendously if we stopped using the term "we" as though it was something "we" had any control over. It's the same mentality that rants about how "we" tore down Millionaires Row on Euclid Avenue and countless other situations. I don't about anyone else, but I didn't hop on a backhoe and rip down buildings on Old River Road, nor did I hold off writing a multi-million dollar check to the Wolsteins so they could get cranking on Flats East Bank. "We"? Really?
  8. To get an idea of the scale, look at the truck and lift machine (cherrypicker?) on the left:
  9. Folks, we have threads for speculative streetcar discussion - granted there's a gray area here but this thread is specifically for actual construction talk. Thanks!
  10. I think the "more normal Seidman Center" reference isn't too far off and I'm not a fan of the dark green panels but eh... I guess it could be worse?
  11. Very nice! Did I read that Music Hall is getting renovated?
  12. ^Thank you, much appreciated. :-) Now that the weather has improved, I'm hoping to get out and about on a regular basis. Forgot to post this view of the county building from Huron. As others have said, it's not great architecture by any stretch but it works and isn't an eyesore:
  13. ^I was actually posting in response to gottaplan's post but thanks for the feedback - as downtown redevelops, I'm curious how rising rents, etc. will affect the retail makeup. What's overpriced to some might be reasonable to others, I guess :-)
  14. Things are moving along - I noticed the red crane sections on the ground in the background; it's waaay too early for us to see a tower crane, right?
  15. Westin from today:
  16. Just that the building had been neglected for so long a full sized tree had taken root ... on the *roof* :-(
  17. Ugh, I'm all for environmental enhancements but I have yet to see a view of the new encasement that does the building any favors:
  18. ^Agreed, and let's keep this thread for actual construction news, folks.
  19. If it's not too much to ask - if you're offering or referring professional services in response to a forumer's post like this, it's best to also provide a "in full disclosure, I own/represent/work for ______". This forum gets a lot of viewers who may not post but they definitely respond to someone providing their credentials and/or qualifications. It's the same thing the Admins/Mods request in threads for residential and rental referrals. And just a friendly and sincere suggestion - fix the "you're needs are" :-)
  20. I think the Playhouse Square space you mentioned would be close to both the general downtown crowd *and* the student population at CSU. You're going to need steady foot traffic and high visibility, right? I can think of spots in my neighborhood (Tremont) but I can't suggest them because I know the traffic flow just isn't there.
  21. Thank you for posting the photo and capturing the moment when they finally removed that d@mn tree. As far as planting the 'earworm' of CeCe Peniston's "Finally" in my brain... oh, who am I kidding, one of my favorite 'back in the day' tunes :-)
