Cleveland: 2014 Gay Games IX News & Discussion
1. I fully admit, not all the nuances, but that's the problem - most people don't, and when they sense someone's post is libelous and act on it, it's the Admins (usually me) who have to deal with their complaint/grief instead of the forumer in question. I have better ways to spend my time than trying to diffuse situations like that. 2. Fair enough, but if you're not at liberty to go into details, leave it at what you've heard and admit it's hearsay. Start throwing out numbers like you did without citing a source ...again, this isn't cleveland.com, you're *going* to be asked to cite/identify your source for something like that. In the event you *can* provide a source, well that's why this isn't cleveland.com - we think our forumers are capable of a mature discussion and those in question are openly welcome to participate (I'll refer you to our RTA threads as an example). 3. Fair enough, but they're more than welcome to present their case here as well as representatives of the Gay Games - all we ask is they adhere to the forum's expectations. 4. Your post isn't appropriate, but please refer to #2 for guidance. Thanks.

Not when their post contains libelous hearsay and unsubstantiated "facts", and especially not when you or your fellow Admins are the ones dealing with any potential litigation.

Cleveland: 2014 Gay Games IX News & Discussion
In full disclosure, my affiliation with the Gay Games is donating some photos for promotional materials - I'm not a volunteer or on any committee but I am friends with some of the staff. With that... "Well, my sources tell me that the folks running this thing are clueless and have no experience promoting or running a major event like this." Well, my experience tells me that until your sources are mature enough to 1. identify themselves and speak on their own behalf and 2. provide details beyond the sadly typical bitchy gossip - you're just posting libelous hearsay which has no place on this forum. If you/they can provide objective and specific details that the whole thing is just a clusterf#ck in the making, that's one thing - but for you to just throw out these comments without any backup or verification? This isn't cleveland.com - and you're the one making these claims, it's on you to either back them up or admit it's just something you heard and didn't bother to question.

Okay folks, speculative retail posts and "what if?" posts about major league soccer have been removed. Let's keep the thread on topic - just a reminder, forumers are welcome to create new threads to continue tangential discussions.

^We may hear more, but we don't need to go into a forensic discussion for many reasons - especially out of respect to the family and friends. Thanks.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
What an awful tragedy - Sean Kilbane, co-owner of the Happy Dog and local music activist, passed away after an accident at work (apparently he fell down some steps). So young and yet he had such an impact on local music, the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood and the city in general :-( R.I.P. http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2014/02/happy_dog_co-owner_and_beloved.html#incart_river_default- Cleveland: General Business & Economic News

Glad to see you're still around - thank you for your service and the great pics!- Cleveland: Retail News
This thread is NOT to be used to discuss the business model of Heinens or the potential for protests against high prices (where the f#ck did that come from, E Rocc?) or which stores accept EBT or any of the other absurdly off-topic crap I've had to remove. Yeah, deleting off-topic posts is the best way I can spend my Friday morning - Add a weather subforum?
Not sure if the topic merits another subforum - there's an active thread, though http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,22237.0.html- CLEVELAND - Pink Nightmares and West Wings
Well thanks to a healthy dose of whatever bronchio-virus that was going around I haven't been able to get out much to take photos as much as I'd like. I took photos of the 2013 Leg Lamp 5K/10K in December and earlier this month I paid a visit to the newly opened West wing of the Cleveland Museum of Art: First up, the Leg Lamp 5K/10K - proceeds went to the neighborhood around the Christmas Story House in the southern end of Tremont. Since we have plenty of snow on the ground, I figured I might as well get caught up and post these now. It was an interesting race that attracted *serious* runners... Wait a sec, is that Scut Farkas? Nah, he didn't have *yellow eyes* :-o Balloon archway en route to the finish line: So there were serious runners and then... the first of many pink nightmares (and leg lamps, Black Bart and his marauders, the Old Man, you name it!) "It was ... soap ... poisoning!" - I told you not to use Lifebuoy! Alright, enough running around, let's head over to the "soft glow of electric sex". Quite a few of the neighbors go to town decorating for the holidays: There it is, good old Cleveland street, err - West 12th and The Christmas Story House: I think they had over 10,000 runners? And the nightmares continue: Enough of the low-brow silliness, next up is the newly opened West wing of the Cleveland Museum of Art, containing Indian, Chinese, and Southeast Asian art. If you haven't been yet - GO. These are the pieces that were squirreled away in a cramped area back in the day. They're now displayed properly and it's just an amazing collection and setting. Oh, and it's FREE. I've had a handful of pics of downtown Cleveland lying around so we'll take a quick detour first: Poor guy could use a scarf: The "canyon" of Walnut Street - 200 Public Square looks like a beast from this angle, imho: Euclid Avenue - I haven't worked downtown for a few years; there's a lot more pedestrian traffic than I remember  The Colonial Arcade: Key Tower and 200 Public Square from Huron Road - I'd love for this view to be blocked (aka infill construction on the parking lot) Don't worry, I would never omit the Terminal Tower: Okay *now* we're heading over to the art museum - en route, the Industrial Valley: Downtown from I77 north - again, it'd be nice to see that gap filled with a decent-sized tower but ah well: Alright, we made it - the new atrium is an amazing space. The restaurant (Provenance), not so much - especially the service, especially for what you pay for a saltblock burger. Oh well, we'll just hit up L'Albatros going forward. Here we are at the entrance of the Indian galleries: This artwork is just amazi... oooh! SQUIRREL! DEER!!! One area has a group of small-scale illustrations - I highly recommend grabbing one of the magnifying glasses to really appreciate the details. One rather jarring illustration depicted a woman who betrayed her husband and tried to frame another woman... she ended up decapitated and sure enough, they drew it! :-P Over to the Chinese gallery: This scroll is HUGE: This is about the size of a baseball - look at the detail: Time to head out, one last shot from the Japanese gallery - hope you enjoyed!- Cleveland: Flats East Bank

The "Cleveland needs a nightlife strip/Baltimore/Other off-topic drivel" posts have been moved to the following: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,28993.0.html Thanks folks - I can't think of a better way to spend an early Tuesday morning than cleaning up posts that are *clearly* off-topic. Any posts that take this thread off topic will get the perp some time off - we allow a little wiggle room but it isn't rocket science.- Cleveland: Downtown: Playhouse Square Development and News
Alright, this thread is not about the maintenance of public art projects, please remember that before you post. If someone wants to discuss that, they're welcome to create a new thread.- Cleveland: Random Photos
Wow, a little odd to see the Huntington lobby with the office walls and furniture removed from the Chester Avenue stretch. Really miss seeing that amazing space, hopefully it finds a suitable use soon.- Cleveland: University Circle: Uptown (UARD)
I know we always joke about preferring some of the unfinished facades on projects but I kind of like the dark - ah well, great updates and thanks for the pics!- Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
Updated pic from 1/14:- Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I snapped some quick photos with my iPad so the quality's not what I prefer but they give a good idea of the facade. Ugh... on the colored panels, did they really have to go with the green that could best be described as "Lake Erie Murk Green"? Not saying I'd want day-glo pink but jeez...- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Asian fusion? Bac comes to mind and he posted something about "big announcement coming soon" on his Facebook page. Coincidence? - Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
