Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
"Ramona reported that owner of Fat Fish Blue had called the station to say they were "staying put" and that their lease is up in 2012 but had no plans to go anywhere..." Fine, but if/when *Wilma* reports the same - then I'll believe it!

^I'm still waiting to hear back from my contacts, but it should top out above the Pinnacle. Keep in mind that height changes aren't uncommon during construction - the Federal Courthouse Tower had a floor lopped off to offset the expenses related to (what else?) excavation. And in other news - ladies and gentlemen, we have structural steel going up! :-) Looks like we have three parking levels, and the elevator core is at the 6th floor:

Cleveland/Oberlin - Possible Relocation?
I personally would not be happy living in Oberlin - it's a great place, but it's too far-flung from the urban amenities and environment I prefer and I get the impression (just an anecdotal observation) that it's a pretty insular place. It's a college town but we're not talking large university where you have an overabundance of opportunities to get out and meet people from different walks of life. I live in Tremont which is south of downtown Cleveland and have easy access to the highways but I don't know that I'd care for that lengthy of a commute; I fully admit that anything over 15 minutes is a deal breaker for me (yes, I'm spoiled). If you can give us some ideas of "happy middle ground" areas in Cincy, we can probably find you an equivalent in the Cleveland area. As mentioned, Lakewood and the northeastern area of Rocky River north of I-90 and east of Wagar might not be fully-built-out 'urban', but they offer decent population density as well as proximity to both a reasonable commute and things like nightlife, etc. For example, the area in Rocky River I'm mentioning isn't too unlike Hyde Park. The area just east in Lakewood is along the lines of Mt. Lookout. Speaking of, if being in proximity to others in the gay community is something you're looking for - feel free to send me a PM for advice on that.

Nothing huge but quite a visible change in the skyline; Fifth Third Center signage is getting switched from the old: To the new - or for those of us font geeks, from Optima Bold to Copperplate Gothic:

Or if you want to simplify things, photos from 11/11/11. Turns out we had a forecast of Cleveland's first snow of the season - which usually means not a whole lot, but the lighting is always unpredictable: So I had the day off, I decide to go to the art museum - parked at 9ish, museum didn't open until 10, so I walk over to grab coffee on Juniper. And then the heavens unleashed about a billion snow pellets. The good news is I got a free dermabrasion on my walk back to the museum :| Anyway, once in the museum everything was lovely: After that, I headed over to Larchmere and Loganberry bookstore - love their new mural! Well would ya look at that? What a great idea for a holiday gift!!! :-D Actually I picked up a copy of 'Cleveland's Hidden History' by Christopher Busta-Peck - very much recommended! After that I decided to head back downtown via Buckeye; St. Mary's Elizabeth of Hungary church on the left: Yeah, things are pretty rough in the immediate vicinity: And honestly for quite a stretch to the west toward downtown: I headed back to the beaten path and stopped at Gallucci's for some prosecco, cheese, and pasta: After Gallucci's, I headed downtown via Euclid: Like I said, the lighting gets to be a little funky (sometimes good, sometimes not) And a little bit of grit to finish things off: Hope you enjoyed!- Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
And with that, we can get back on topic. :-)- Cleveland: Hotel Development
Nice of them to use my photo in that 2nd slide without asking permission. Time to make a few phone calls :-)- Off Topic
^Agreed - some areas have coverage from two different time frames. Check out the Youngstown area, particularly south and east of downtown and toggle from 500' to 100'. :-(- Cleveland: Flats East Bank
^I'll just put it this way - this thread was started in December. 2004. :-o- Glendale Cemetery - Akron, Ohio - Part 2
That chapel and the Egyptian-revival crypt are amazing - is the chapel ever open?- Glendale Cemetery - Akron, Ohio - Part 1
Wow, all the years I lived relatively close to Akron, I had no idea something like this was there! Great shots!- CLEVELAND - Towpath and Terminal
Alright, took a little jaunt out to Cuyahoga Valley National Park last weekend and today I stopped by the Terminal Tower observation deck. And yeah, I had that d@mn camera with me  Out to Peninsula we go: And of course, starting off with lunch at the Winking Lizard - love that they kept the signage from the 'Nite Club' days: Alright enough of that foolishness, over to the Towpath Trail we go - en route is the Cuyahoga River. The current was a little heavier since we had record rainfall this year. One of these days I'll do the sightseeing train: Cuyahoga once more with feeling: And onto the trail: Remnants of one of the locks - hard to believe that these (and the subsequent trading routes) were responsible for Cleveland's initial boom. There are rough trails connecting to the Towpath, but since it was a bit muddy we stuck to the paved stuff. Great Blue Heron: Part of the Towpath crosses marshy wetlands so they built a boardwalk over it: Wooly bear! Where's Dick Goddard when you need him? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woollybear_Festival This was as far north as we were going to get that day - Ohio Turnpike bridge pylons in the distance: Past peak color, but still beautiful: A nice sunset to take us back to Cleveland: The next day's weather forecast called for crisp, clear skies so I decided to head over to the Terminal Tower observation deck. See the round antenna/dish thingy? Just below that is the observation deck level: A few shots from street level before I go up: Okeydokey, here we are! Construction well under way for the casino welcome center: Ernst and Young tower under construction: For those who haven't been in a while; the deck has been nicely restored: From background to foreground - broken bridge (West 3rd lift bridge closed for 5 months), rusted bridge (current Innerbelt bridge), new bridge (replacement Innerbelt bridge), and a solid, perfectly fine bridge (Lorain-Carnegie). I think the saying goes "they sure don't build 'em like they used to!" I'm not sure if the building on the horizon is the new HQ for Eaton or the Ahuja Medical Center for University Hospitals. Ginormous wind turbine: No ore freighters today, just a tug and barge: The big dug-out area is where the Cleveland Cold Storage building used to be; cleared for the Innerbelt construction. West Side Market: The square-ish structure in the center isn't a new group of townhomes, it's one house! Shaker Square: Ugly building, but it has great views: Back down to street level: Over to Cliff Drive: Back toward downtown: Requisite stop by the Columbus Road bridge: Hope you enjoyed!- Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino

That Marlins sculpture is dreadful - there's a sculpture by Red Grooms at the Cleveland Museum of Art that I actually like. It's best when you either sit or crouch down so that it looks like you're at street level. http://goo.gl/prV3G Image from clevelandart.org:- Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino

Speaking of Ohio City, stopped by Market Garden Brewery - beers were great (amber ale, pale ale and stout), service was really good (aka attentive but not intrusive), and food was decent - portions might be too big but ah well, leftovers for lunch. It was nice to see West 25th busy and hopping on a Tuesday night :-)- Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
