  9. What do we know about the area where the Portland streetcar currently runs BEFORE it was built? Comparable to CBD, OTR, Uptown? How are the areas/ridership different? There are a lot of differences between Portland/Cincinnati, both good and bad. What should be expected from the investment in the Cincinnati Streetcar System? All serious questions that might have been answered earlier in this thread. Thanks in advance if you have the answers.

  11. Here's a video of the Arcade: http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/mplayer/features/30539 Developer: Arcade development will take collaboration By Tim Tresslar Staff Writer Saturday, March 15, 2008 DAYTON — Redevelopment of the Arcade complex and surrounding properties — an effort that could cost up to $65 million — is doable, but not by a single entity, developer Bob Shiffler told an audience Friday, March 14. Shiffler, who has been negotiating to buy the five-building complex, said redevelopment funding would need to include up to $8 million in equity that would provide investors a return. The rest of the costs would need to come from tax credits, loans, tax-increment financing or other tools, he said.
  12. NOTE: This is not an abandoned project and here is why... MAD RIVER WHITEWATER PARK -- SIGN YOUR NAME AND SHOW SUPPORT Hello all, Our friends at Whitewater Warehouse here in Dayton have asked us to help them out during the Public Comment phase of a proposed whitewater project on the Mad River. Whitewater Warehouse is working with Five Rivers MetroParks (one of our key partners) on this, so it would be great to show our support. What you are being invited to do is to visit the link below, check a few boxes that say you support this project, and then sign your name. It is quite simple and would really help with this great idea for the Mad River and our community. We are attaching the Public Notice to the Corps of Engineers, so please read it in detail if you would like. But here is the overall sense of the project. Thanks for your help with this and your simple actions to make progress in our region. The end of the Public Comment phase is March 28, so please do this before then. Whitewater Warehouse will take all the signatures to the Corps of Engineers on March 28. http://www.kayakdayton.com//Company-Profile/Whitewater-Park-Full.html Mad River Whitewater Project Notice No. 2007-00652-GMR Comment Period 2/28/08 to 3/28/08 Description: Five Rivers Metro Parks is proposing the construction of a whitewater park beginning at Eastwood MetroPark and continuing to below the railroad trussels, a distance of a half mile. This modification of the Mad River would include the installation of boulder-clusters, self-scouring pools, and current deflectors; along with stabilization of the banks, safe public access, and natural rock terracing. The project is estimated to cost $500,000-$750,000 http://www.kayakdayton.com//index2.php?option=com_content&do_pdf=1&id=75 http://www.kayakdayton.com/
  13. OTR has potential and a lot of good things happening to it but that doesn't negate its problems and its old reputation. I believe it is coming back and will completely come back. The key is making sure it is valued for generations to come and will never fall back into the squalor and vice that has come to characterize it. Cincinnati has to realize what it has and be proud of it...forever and always.
  14. This needs to be shouted from the hilltops! It is not the critic who counts!
  15. ^Berding will support the streetcar so long as financing does not appear dubious and public support remains high.
  16. ^My mistake, I meant high density public housing/concentrating those dependent on social services in one area. Error on my part. High density housing can be a very good thing (ie Mt. Adams like you said).
  17. ah yes, great point.
  18. ^just think of those old breweries turned into brewpubs like http://www.greatlakesbrewing.com in Cleveland, it could be a real destination
  19. ^I haven't been inside it yet, but the outside looks beautiful.
