^ I know where you are coming from man, but actually I think Hyde park is actually selling Hyde Park square (and implicitly a lack of a certain minority)

Heh, nothing, it was just a comment on they are covering getting the most of your fuel dollar while at the same time talking down anything that keeps you from relying on fuel at all.

No, thats a fine explanation. I wasn't trying to conflate light rail with streetcars, but the reality is, I want to see both. I just find it ultimately frustrating that people who tell me that they don't support the streetcar plan because it should be more comprehensive are also those who rejected a much more comprehensive system. It can certainly be argued that the metromoves plan could have been better... this doesn't negate the fact that the very same folks who say they don't support the streetcar as a foray into rail based transit also voted down what was at least a pretty good comprehensive light rail plan. I HIGHLY doubt that the people who fall into this category are really looking at the plan in ^ that way. These folks see rail as rail as rail, its not that they are making some nuanced distinction between light rail and the streetcar.

Can one of you explain why you would support a streetcar but not light rail? Streetcars were PART of the metromoves plan.

^ Yes, that wider rail system context need to be mentioned for sure However, I have a hard time not spitting out "we are taking baby steps here because most of you were too foolish to recognize a good thing when it came your way in 2002"

^ Doesn't connect anything - I hate that argument It is completely demonstrably false. ^ Insidious money men Again, isn't one of the purposes behind the line to spur redevelopment? So, if there are money men, well it must be a scheme. If there aren't money men, well its a bad idea.... Can't win.

I am the cell phone jinx - How often do you replace your cell phone?
8830 is dual CDMA/GSM (I do use it for international travel as well) (note - I agree CDMA is lame, but vz has far better coverage where I use my phone than any of the others)

Yeah, I like the toys too, and I probably would go a new phone every year if it weren't for the fact that they are breaking faster then that ;) My problem with my 8830 is that the scroll works, but the center press and the rest of the buttons do not. So I can't even answer an incoming call or start an application. This is going to cut into my UO commute time browsing! I would totally go with an iphone if it were available on verizon. My vz contract is up in december and I can get the upgrade in august... I bought it in October last year from ebay, so I dunno if I can con them into the 1 year manufacturer replacement...

So, this is the 5th cell phone that has died on me in 3 years. :shoot: Getting really sick and tired of having phones die, especially since its not cheap (Blackberry 8830). I figure I've spent more than $1500 on cell phones in 3 years (gotta have the PDA or blackberry). This can't be normal!!!

How bizarre to see pictures of Fitchburg of all places here... Fitchburg, home of the biggest party school in MA (because in Amherst, they actually graduate ;) )

Thoughts on pursuing an MBA
I will be taking a job as general counsel at a software startup. In house legal jobs are usually more "business" oriented, so its aspects of understanding the business and the legal strategies to minimize risk while maximizing profits. Its not likely to have any relation to likelihood to make partner at all (thats all sweat of the brow success/who you know). It could be helpful to understanding and working with your business clients, but its not of direct benefit to the eclusive practice of law (like at a firm).

Delegating I can do, but there's no "you're fired" when you don't live up to my standards ;)

Thoughts on pursuing an MBA
Hmmm, 70/30 group to individual sounds like a serious PITA. I've been thinking about doing the executive MBA program at Xavier in a few years. Then again, its probably a bit early to be considering another degree given that I'll be graduating from a JD program this Saturday. But with the job I am going into after the bar and all that, well an MBA would be a big help... But 70/30? I hate group work!

Cincinnati Cyclones Discussion
When I went, we tried three different door people. Each of them insisted that there was no way that they would let me in with a dSLR. I told them I was parked all the way up in OTR (which is where we left the car) and EACH of them told me the only way I would get in was if I went back and left the camera in the car. I mean we were at the door at 7:15, and I walk fast, but there was no way I was making it from the arena out to 12th street and back before quite a bit of the game had passed. I asked to speak to their manager, same story. ^ I think you got really lucky that they let you in.... I had to resort to shenanigans to get it in the door...

The game was awesome, especially the third period. A ton of fun. We had awesome seats, on the glass, first four seats next to the penalty box. Freaking sweet -- real cheap for such nice seats. Only pain was when we tried to get in and I had my camera (digital SLR) and they said "You can't bring that kind of camera into the game." So I put the lens in the bag of one of my friends bags, and the body into my wife's purse. They gave her hell about it until I lied and said the lens was still in the car. Sheesh, it makes no sense that I can bring a non-slr but somehow an SLR is a nono. But consequently, I have no pictures :x Oh well, now I know to avoid that hassle.

Cincinnati: Walnut Hills - Gates of Eden Park 2
The Brewhouse is barely a notch above bar food if you ask me, but the homemade pies are usually pretty darn good. I actually like the Brewhouse for a friendly/homey desert, but I could care less about the food... But, its also quite cheap and I've been known to grab a mushroom swiss burger there when I'm low on cash...

^ That very driver right there is the audience of WLW. Think about AM radio -- long distance range, does frequent traffic updates. They have a captive audience of primarily exurb+ commuters. I think the whole its "all political" thing is absolutely hilarious. I keep hearing that and it always comes from a mouth that will say "I just don't believe it" after I lay out all the facts about the projected future costs of oil and gasoline. Its really funny when you lead with "Have you ever heard of Goldman Sachs? GS is predicting $7 a gallon gas in 2 years and oil at $150 - $200 a barrell"... Which is immediately followed by "I just don't believe it". Its really getting on my nerves, these folks say "prove it," I lay out the facts and figures, and their only response is "I just don't believe it?" Makes me very very angry.

The comment is retarted from every perspective. I just wrote out a whole post that explained the logical failings, but frankly, its pointless. The only folks playing hide the facts are the folks who say "it just won't work" and its because they lack the facts to support this supposition.
