  1. I think that map does a great job of illustrating which route is best for development potential! Cool :)
  2. sweet, very helpful. that was the information I was after. Cheers! edit - hmmm, I don't see any info about which streets up the hill would be possible though... I really think that information is crucial to being able to fairly state the case for why the current proposal, which has already been studied, doesn't preclude a key future route to uptown.
  3. UncleRando, I have a few letters in the works right now, but I would like to be able to argue intelligently about why the current proposal and funding doesn't in any way preclude a second round of funding to get the cars up the hill. One obstacle to making that argument is that I don't really know which routes up the hill are feasible... I know from bicycling which are the harder routes, just trying to wrap my head around the actual physics and capabilities of the proposed cars...
  4. Query - what are the viable options up the hill?
  5. Monday's meeting will tell me whether to rethink Qualls. I voted for her based upon the fact that she had devoted considerable time and energy into thinking and scholarly research in urban planning, design, and community administration. I hope that in the end that faith was not misplaced.
  6. damn it, 50 mins remaining to download... slow slow website.
  7. she knows that her proposed plan won't make it through a vote. she got enough people on board on her plan to make it hard for the original plan to make it through on a vote. in other words, she is trying to kill it, not just stall, but end. plain and simple (or if not, she's being used by cranley in the worst way) edit - i ride up sycamore hill sometimes too... or if i am lazy, i go up liberty.
  8. [quote author=moonloop link=topic=9.msg259442#msg259442 date=1203562794 [Mallory] said he always viewed the streetcar plan as one project, not as the Over-the-Rhine loop as phase one and the rest to follow later. He said it’s just that fundraising had only started for the Over-the-Rhine section, but that funding eventually would be pursued for the rest of it. too. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080220/NEWS01/302200123 Mallory is the consumate politician, thats such a nuanced way to put it... Its not two phases, we are just pursuing funding in two phases... Heh.. I need to learn to speak like him!
  9. Remember what we were positing about financial contributions to future campaigns? Answer in citybeat article and enquirer article when considered in conjunction.
  10. stall in committee, thats what it says
  11. Politics as usual. This is disappointing to say the least. To me, this smells like stall tactics of the worst kind, the economic studies for the proposed phase 1 loop have already been completed, and they suggest that the proposed route would generate a significant economic upside. Nothing in the current proposed loop precludes an uptown extension, in fact it contemplates it as part of the project, and to come out with this "proposal" does nothing more than throw a monkey wrench in the works.

I will say the A3 and the VW GTI are both comfy enough for me (6'4", 205). Long legs are no problem in either car. However, if you are really insistent on not backing up the front seat far into the back of the car, well the only options are gas guzzling SUV's or mini vans... All those sedans and hatches require that someone our size put the front seat way back. I will beg to differ on the lack of SUV's in Boston at least. The Suburban is far too common there for a city that cramped (Same for Hummer/other giant monstrosities). Most Boston city dwellers could care less about how gas sipping their car is because there are tons of public transit options and in the end, the car gets used very little. But then again, Boston is also a city where people will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a deeded parking spot (I think the most expensive sale of a PARKING SPOT I saw was darn near a quarter million dollars)
  13. I know, I know.. just keeping you clean ;) You know where I stand!
  14. And why not? His name is out there on the article, and the rest is just a quick internet search away. He didn't elect to keep the address private, so..... My point is that yeah, its east end, but its about as close to downtown as you could possibly be without being officially downtown... Edit - point being, don't go for the weak rhetorical point when the rest of your argument is so strong, just gives detail oriented folks a way to tear you down on nothing ;)
  15. wrong, you live in the east end April D & Harry B Davidow home 900 Adams Xing, Ste 11300 Cincinnati, OH 45202-1696 (513) 421-4432 Hmmm, that looks relatively downtown to me.... Unless downtown is defined as west of 271, in which case its still damn close to downtown... not to nit pick, but yeah, otherwise, right on! ;)
