  1. Kool-aid stands INSIDE of the streetcars to attract passengers! Everyone thank Monzel for helping figure out the financing puzzle. Different flavors in each car? Maybe a higher fare could be charged for grape?
  2. What was the age range of those in the crowd at the debate the other night? Are we hearing more negative responses to the streetcar from middle-aged people or is it college-aged and yp's? I would say that there is more support for this than one would think, particularly from yp's. However, I think, in general, yp's are less informed and less outspoken so we don't hear from them as much. Peter Bronson can play with his toy car...I'll take the train set. Oh, and Monzel's famous spreadsheet...is he assuming any population growth in his calculation?
  3. All I heard on 700 was Eddie and Tracy trashing the streetcars and then they had Monzel on who even said the money could be spent on repairing potholes in our streets and highways! What was their reaction after John called in? I didn't have the pleasure of hearing it.
  4. So, basically Cranley got what he wanted? Qualls got to vote yes. Nothing happens unless $60 million is found somewhere, right? How hard is this going to be? Is there a time table? (obviously the sooner the better)
  5. What about solar streetcars?
  6. I've travelled to Portland on business and being able to take light rail to downtown from PDX for a dollar was great! Actually, I think it was $1.05 :-P Of course, then you're in the middle of a very walkable city and the thought of a car doesn't cross your mind.
  7. As the banks and OTR become attractive places to go to, maybe all of the people in the suburbs will have more of a reason to favor a light rail system in order to get there. What incentive did they have back when light rail was voted down to go downtown other than work? I want to see the center city become a destination...not a place that closes after 6pm.
  8. So, basically where we are at is we're looking for funds to build the OTR loop and then they can start building? Or is it lock down funds, then vote (majority vote approves it), then build?
