  6. Cincinnati projects score Ohio historic tax credits Eleven of the 15 Cincinnati projects are buildings being redeveloped in Over-the-Rhine by the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp., or 3CDC. The 3CDC allocation totals $2.7 million in credits, and CEO Steve Leeper said they couldn’t have come at a better time. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/stories/2008/10/13/daily41.html?ana=from_rss

i cant believe how much of a dump hemisphair park is. you would think a place with one of the few tourist attractions would be well maintained. there is some nice architecture (i love crockett hotel) but the street life is completely dead unless you count the ripleys across from the alamo. i went to the river walk on a friday night and felt like i was hearded cattle. it was nice but was soooooo packed it was hardly worth it. and it is unreal that it is so detached from the city, you have to look for signs because you can hardly even get a glimpse from the street. but i guess that happens when your river is a narrow canal.
  15. I stopped by the zoo last Friday and have some interesting tidbits: 1) The full plan for the new entrance is posted by the Elephant House. I hadn't seen this before. It has new membership, admission and shop buildings. Which I'd imagine means those buildings at the current main entrance will be demoed for new exhibits (more on this later). It doesn't look like they're going to do much with the massive retaining wall... bummer. 2) The Iams Animal Wellness Village in front of CREW is almost complete. Hopefully this means higher visibility for all the amazing conservation work happening at the zoo. 3) The new rain gardens look pretty good, they're in the parking lot in front of the new Education Center. One is mostly local species, the other has a mix of local and exotic species. They hope to have more info (pamphlets, classes, etc.) on them soon. 4) While I was checking out the rain gardens I bumped into a couple girls from the Cat Ambassador program. I asked about plans for the current main parking lot once the entrance is shifted and they tell me it's going to be turned into an African Savannah. Which I think sounds awesome. The cheetahs will have an expanded area for running and hanging out (since the current run is more of an afterthought than an exhibit) and it should help the giraffe exhibit, since right now its basically part of the parking lot.
  16. wow the places you guys find leads never ceases to amaze me
  17. i guess they're ok
  18. Sticking with the Cap theme, Capital also tried to create a school for professionals/business in the arena district and it was a huge flop (although they didn't give it much time) so success and failure. but yeah, i like the idea of it moving downtown.
  19. Come on oneglove...i mean so goes it. Search around the forum and you'll find plenty of info. regarding that. Or are you being sarcastic again?!? Wait, aren't you back in Cincinnati? Bah! i'm back, but up in the burbs for the moment, and feeling too lazy to search for either the info on here or the actual structures... i demand answers now! ok, i'll go find it...
  20. a news report said there was a lot of fire damage in OTR, anyone know anything?
  21. gumbo! sounds significant to me!
  22. Definitely sad, but it will also be good to see new life in Coney, I love the gritty side of Coney as much as anyone, but the status quo is hardly what Coney was or should be. The Cyclone will remain, the Wonder Wheel will remain, the Parachute Drop will remain, and so will the freak show, the aquarium (which I hear they're discussing expanding and inreasing the visibility on the boardwalk), the boardwalk, and the beach. The page will turn on Astroland just as it has Steeplechase and Luna Park, but at least they're zoning to create and encourage more entertainment in Coney. Maybe the new product can be even better than the nostalgic remains of a once great park.
  23. all that has happened is the last holdout sold. as far as i know there is currently no developer in place, and nothing has been said about the status of the project in light of the final property being acquired so it is technically still dead... but you don't shell out 1.25 million to sit on property so something should be coming down the pipeline though with the market being different than the market of 3 years ago, i'd imagine some changes.
  24. Lone Eminent Domain property sold http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080903/NEWS01/309030064 it will be interesting to see what happens next, i'd imagine a modified plan coming soon
