The reailty is the Cards have been there and we haven't. Hopefully this series is just an experience to build on for the playoffs.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100805/BIZ01/8060364/1076/BIZ/Tenants-sign-up-for-Banks-homes As always, only read the comments if you like banging your head against the wall. People really think $2/sq.ft is a bad deal for that location?!

Cincinnati Cyclones Discussion
On cylconeshockey.com there is a press-release about a new affiliation with the Florida Panthers. The new AHL affiliation is with the Americans which is Weber's new coaching gig. Not present in the press release is that we are no longer affiliated with the Canadiens but are retaining our Predators affiliation. I'd rather have kept the Canadiens affiliation because of their history but I guess there's no reason to complain. Does anyone know how it works with retaining players with a new affiliation? Minor league hockey is such a different beast than baseball.

Doesn't the UC shuttle drop off at the front door to the Kingsgate Marriot? Not a terrible mode of urban transportation.

Cincinnati: Northside: American Can Factory Lofts
Definitely, that block of nothingness absolutely kills the flow of Northside. Fill it in and get some more decent (non-chain) restaurants down there. Seems like a guy can't get a decent meal after 10 pm in Northside. http://www.bloomfieldschon.com/ 12k retail, 20k office, 30 townhomes. Maybe not signature pieces but looks like some solid infill.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
As great as I think the Moerlein establishment will be, I'm pretty underwhelmed by the design of the building. The best I can say for it is it seems like it doesn't compete visually with the park/stadium.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
People around Cincinnati are too used to being let down to enjoy themselves. Get excited now! Even if the Reds tank you still had a few happy moments. I guarentee they'll be better than the moments of self congratulation if you're proved right when they miss the playoffs. Enjoy the ride Cincinnatus!

Does the rest of the article (that you have to pay for) say anything about plans for Glencoe? Christ has a pretty awful track record when it comes to preservation.

They had an exhibit on the Berlin Wall at the Newseum in DC. It was probably one of my favorite exhibits. It's so interesting to see the sterile east german side of the compared to the protest graffitied west german side.

If they ever rebuild the Walvogel Viaduct like they plan on doing, it could free up some land... Or did they rebuild it already?
