  1. ....just noticed this on Global Centers web page.  "The Global Center for Health Innovation December 6 Open House has been postponed to allow additional showroom spaces to complete construction, fully maximize the experience for visitors, and combine the event with a robust educational program. A rescheduled Open House event will be announced at a later date. The Global Center currently has 13 showrooms completed and is open for self-guided tours Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m."
  2. From their website today... "Opening to the public in mid-2014." http://www.theglobalcenter.com/

yes and $15 million in cleanup equals $24 million in casino revenue taxes, A YEAR , to the city.
  4. Was there Sunday afternoon....had a great root beer float from Burger, Dogs and Fries. Noticed what a short walk to Dirty Franks, and Little Palace ......also looking forward to Mo Jo opening in Lazarus building......Great start Columbus Commons!
  5. I miss City Center, that building had such a presence! The green space is killing me! There's plenty of room in the Lazarus building, facing High, for sit down restaurants. Hopefully, as the build out around the Commons is completed, more will come. Give it a chance.
  6. Looking the ratings over again...points were assigned in each category. Cleveland had 29 points earned for Lesbian bars...sorry...
  7. Looking at the rating score under each cities article, I see Cleveland has 29 Lesbian bars.....
  8. It does show a Band Shell in front of the back of the Ohio Theatre. Not sure the Band shell will be that noticed against the wall........I also see the placement of the Carousel in the map opposite the Band Shell..
  9. I realize that every city operates it's transportation systems differently and Cleveland is blessed with more options than Columbus. The ease in finding fare information is a different story. Just for the sake of discussion, here's Columbus' fare rate page. http://www.cota.com/General-Fares.aspx

  13. http://www.clevelandmedicalmart.com/development/architecture/ Note that- Public Auditorium is still shown being used in the plans. "Event Planners" ---floorplans---meeting rooms.
  14. Thanks for the photos! I grew up in Youngstown and the "20 Federal Place (the old Phar-Mor drug store headquarters)" is the old Strouss-Hirshberg Department store. Wow, the memories! My aunt Mary worked in the tube room in the basement. It was where the air tubes from the sales floor came with billing/money and was received and sent back. I worked on the mezzanine floor in the Young Men's Department when I was going to college. Thanks again!

Sorry, I meant, a restaurant is still there that used to be The Clock, but it's now The Elevator Brewery & Draught House. More history of the building on their web site. http://www.elevatorbrewing.com/

Yes, the Clock is still there, it's now the Elevator restaurant.
  17. YouTube video of Cooper Park.....Do it!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9R0sL9CvLk
  18. http://www.clevelandmedicalmart.com/ Public Hall is currently being show as part of the facility on the Cleveland Medical Mart and Convention Centers website. It is under the "full facility diagram" and the "convention center floor plans".
  19. Mark Falanga,MMPI, originally said the upper floors of Public Hall would be used for meeting rooms and ballroom space.
  20. A new Hilton downtown, and now, Hotel Indigo downtown. Good news.
  21. A partial quote from a Plain Dealer article on November 26, 2009 and MMPI still receives $333,333 a month for consulting etc.-------- "A Cleveland city councilman has set four public meetings for early next year to drive discussion on the newest plan for a medical mart and convention center. "This project has to move forward," said Councilman Joe Cimperman on Thursday. "It's too critical for the region, for the economy. We just gotta put our heads down and get this thing done." The meetings, planned for January and February, will each focus on one aspect of developer MMPI's latest vision for the $425 million complex -- to build a modern glass structure cascading from the bluff of Mall C. Subjects will include city planning, economic impact, architecture and the park-like Mall downtown." http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/11/cleveland_councilman_joe_cimpe_1.html
  22. I hate to bring this up.....but....Will the old convention center foundation under the mall hold the proposed new medial mart multistory structure??? I believe the study that was done said it could support the raised roof etc. but it didn't mention a large building.
  23. MMPI....."MMPI remains committed to bringing "a world-class facility to Cleveland," said Mark Falanga, senior vice president of MMPI. The company wants to present information to City Council in a month or so, Falanga said, but said the project's overall schedule is unclear." ........"in a month or so"...and the county is paying MMPI $333,333 a month.

A full service Hilton is going to be constructed across from the Hyatt Regency on North High Street. It is in the design stage now.
  25. This is the press release from Medical Mart Properties on 2/11/2009 in Chicago on the decision for the location of the Cleveland Convention Center and Medical Mart. If you copy and paste and search, you'll get the 2 page release. I question everything that's now happening as this February release infers that all costs and locations were considered. cmm_pr_021109.pdf
