Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Is there any news about an observation area being put at the very top in the "crown"? I know a few ideas were floating last year on what they should put up there.

I wonder what kind of retail will be at street level. Or, what would be good to have for that area. Hmmmmm.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati: Development and News
TheHemroid replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionPeople are so petrified at UC going in debt that they fail to realize all the positive things it means for the future. If you build it, they will come...and the fact there's a huge number of incoming freshmen is only a taste. I wish pesimistic people would stop and smell the roses once and a while.

All this activity in OTR gives me a funny feeling, like when I climb the rope in gym class.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Holiday Inn
LOL a UDF. I still think it should be the building for the Streetcars and repairs.

I'm wondering that too. Since downtown is seeing a new resurgance, I wouldn't doubt developers wanting to put something there or at least begin serious talks soon. It's such a big space. Not only that space but the huge parking lot that people use for Sawyer Point too. This new hotel(this is long shot), could potentially spark more hotels or some kind of entertainment along that entire part of downtown.

I always envisioned a major HQ needing two towers and just have a cool skywalk connecting the 2 over 7th or something.

QCS3? I got it, just demolish the parking garage with the rotating clock, build a 75 story tower and put the clock on top LOL. That woould be friggin' hilarious. At least pilots could tell the time while flying over Cincy hahaha.

Cincinnati: Covington: The Views
I've noticed sometimes letting vines grow up the side of a building can add character, as simple as it sounds. But it's good to see NKY and Cincy using the natural hills for great views. There's a lot of opportunity to have truly awesome residential towers on our hills.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Hampton Inn / Homewood Suites (Cincinnati Enquirer Building Redevlopment)
It's always good for a city to have a high-rise residential building with character. So many out there simply don't have character.

Well I graduated from DAAP last year in Induastrial Design but I saw plenty of Architecture. I can tell you architecture is like car design...you get absolutely incredible concept art but then it gets muddied down to boring crap because the public and your boss are afraid of change. Then again, since we've become modernized, it's almost expected to see townhomes without gargoyles or cool crevices. That stuff just sadly isn't the norm anymore.

I love the spinning clock on the garage East of it but that garage needs to be trashed too....keep the clock though;) it's too hokey and cool not to.

I can't get over how fast everything is happening. Usually when construction would take place downtown it would be on one corner of downtown. Now, there's so much crap being renovated and built that it's hard to keep up. You can drive around all four corners and see something new being done. 10-15 years from now Cincy's downtown will have completely transformed.

Let's face it. Our downtown is so badass!

Given the new need for hotels and more people coming in, I wouldn't be surprised if this has a positive snowball affect on the surrounding area. We have the two huge lots across the street, then we have that one gigantic one next to where The Edge will be...ya know the way everyone uses to park for Sawyer Point. That whole area could be a cool section of different hotels because they would all be super close to 71.

It's awesome how fast this is going up. Man this will be weird because I graduated from SCPA back in '99 and going to a different building for alumni day will be strange. The designj is great though.

I met a friend after the Reds game a few weeks ago and just from looking at the site, this building will be massive. You don't really realize it until you stand next to phase 1

Cincinnati: Downtown: Holiday Inn
Yuk that'san ugly building. That's a great spot for a hotel. I really hope that sparks more development in those two gigantic lots.
