  1. ^That's hilarious and true. Not only that, but sometimes dumpier places give more of a welcoming feel than a remodeled place. It might sound insane, but dumpier places can still be ran by good management and they have more "character" too. Remember In The Wood? not an electrifying looking place by any means, but it had some of the best damn breakfast ANYWHERE.
  2. The finished product will definitely have siding on it. Right now its just a tall cement mess.
  3. Is there still a hold-up about this ridiculous debate or is everything still on schedule?
  4. If they keep at it, that whole street will look so kickass. The streetcar is expected to go down Vine correct?
  5. They need to build a ridiculously large hotel at Broadway Commons or something. Outdoor courts or whatever. The Humana buildings are actually very nice looking and look good as your coming into the city from the north. But dang, your eyes go right and bam! the BC parking lot that's so large it could hold all of King's Island's coasters.
  6. I happened to run into a construction worker for the banks at graeters and he said its dang near ready for the garage to start. They'll be taping the area off very soon;) saweeeeeeeeeet.
  7. There was only one crane during construction so that new one is facing the opposite way. Hmmmmm that'll be nice if they can start.
  8. Yea this is a touchy subject. Since I'm blunt I'll just say it. Property value will rise whether people like it or not and it WILL push people out. Just look at the East End as a prime example. If that Gateway Quarter extends all the way down the street to the Kroger, I'm willing to bet all those people on wellfare wouldn't hang out there anymore. Think of it as a medicine. The whole reason OTR was/is rotting in the first place is exactly that..low income housing which USUALLY brings unhealthy, drug-infested, mean people. You have landlords forced to move or fix up what they own because its the only way to compete. So if that means OTR will be gentrified then so be it, it doesn't mean "acceptance" isn't an issue. Do you want to walk down the North end of Vine street with section 8 housing still? no, so don't lie.
  9. ^Thats very true and very insane to think about. But, it all matters WHO moves in. All those vacancies need to continue to be renovated so less "bad" people move there. IF that means 10-20,000 higher income people, white/black/asian etc...then so be it!. I think we can step back and say a strong movement is nfinally under way and its all a matter of time. It looks strong enough to where this OTR movement won't stop any time soon.
  10. Yea most if not all of the people hangin' around the park all day just don't have anything better to do. They aren't mean. However, renovating that park WILL make all the druggies, winos etc leave because if you take certain people out of their element, they naturally move to an area where it hasn't changed because that's all they know. I graduated from SCPA back in '99 and we had outdoor lunch periods all through highschool. The new SCPA will most likely use some of the new park for just that and when you mix druggies and winos with school children and teachers...something has to give and I have a feeling the school will win;)
  11. That entire area with the new SCPA, along with music hall and the park, will be an awesome place.
  12. Redbank Rd and Wooster Pk have both been given a major face lift and its really nice to see.
  13. There's one more thing they mentioned for the reason of the hold up. Aside from presales, they planned on adding a few floors to the taller tower making it 15 stories from the original 12. I have no clue if this was agreed on but I can't wait until they build these things. That One Lytle Place is horrific looking...damn near as bad as Crosley Tower at UC( oh God did I just compare something to Crosley?) hahaha.
  14. I consider QCS a part of The Banks in my own mind. But I literally know it isn't. They'll be in construction the exact same time and phase 1 of the banks should be completed almost the same time as our new tower. It's all dandy on the riverfront;)
  15. What's up with Dayton, KY just down the river...they're getting a huge makeover right with highrises and such?
  16. Jimmy James, yes and not only that...that huge grassy ravine that runs across their entire riverfront has potential to house huge gardens or really cool rock formations and walls. IF Ovation gets built, something will probably be done to compliment what will happen on Ovation's waterfront. If cards are played right, Cincy and NKY could very well have the most attractive riverfront in the country. Where else can you find hills that haven't been touched like ours?
  17. The whole place will look awesome with those caps added. I wish there were some renderings of different angles of the caps. The whole banks site is about as big as downtown dayton lol.
  18. The fact the mud pit is being filled is amazing lol. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  19. Uninspiring? you can't base what it will really look like from a model sitting in a room lol.
  20. ^ And we haven't even added in The Banks yet;) thats insane. Cincy is taking off finally.
  21. I bet all the naysayers are looking at this great momentum for downtown and saying "dang, we shouldn't have moved to the burbs...honey, do you want to move down there?" pshhahahahaha.
  22. Cincy and Dayton merging is becoming more and more of a reality every day;)
  23. Rando your right. I should just stop typing after 3am;)
  24. I think the site should be split. Have a Joseph Beth and grocery store on the bottom neighbored by a movie rental store. Above that, residential highrise(s) Whoever lives there or close to it would never have to venture more than two blocks ever lol.
  25. He's right. Demolition of the garage will take about 2-3 months from start to finish. It's huge.
