  1. Does anyone know how tall that hotel will be in phase 1? it's a hotel right? Some kind of highrise they said.
  2. Cincinnatus, your absolutely right. Nothing will compare. I'm going out on a limb here and saying when all is said and done, The Banks will be THE number one riverfront in the country. If someone can list or give evidence of an existing riverfront that will have better development and appeal, by all means post! I'm not saying other cities don't have nice riverfronts. I'm just saying Cincy will have the mac daddy one;) think about it. It's almost scary.
  3. NOTL and The Banks, instead of being in a huge competition, should actually become one giant hot spot for the midwest. Since my mind is insane, I predict by the year 2050, the entire riverfront will be littered with high rise condos everywhere(not including HQ's and other development). I'm even talking about the hills becoming home to condos everywhere. The area surrounding Union Terminal will be insane looking. This area will take off and within these next five years, we'll be witnessing the most action this place has seen since immigrants settled here. Pretty kickass.
  4. That first phase, once complete, will be ridiculously crowded...and I mean that in a good way. I bet people who opposed the stadiums being built on the riverfront have shut their traps by now;) boooyyaaaaaaahh.
  5. This will be insanely cool. The event lawn with the stage should attract an ungodly amount of performers.
  6. ^Beautifully stated. Like I said before, NKY and downtown Cincy should come together as one giant metropolis. All the ingrediants are there too. I was raised a republican but as I've gotten older I've become more moderate than anything. Cincinnati is super conservative and there's nothing wrong with conservative values at all. But when it bleeds into the growth of a downtown, it becomes a gigantic mess of "oh no, that's TOO edgy to have here." People are now complaining that QCS tower will be too tall or that the streetcar construction will "tear" up the roads....BWAHAHAHAHA give me a break. Your right about 3CDC. They're doing an outstanding job. If Illuminations helps Convington than so be it! if it means Convington will have a bigger downtown to attract more things than so be it. Great. Let's get this rolling. There's so much friggin' space to build in the valley it's ridiculous.
  7. One more thing. I don't think there should be any battle between Cincy and NKU. We must consider this one giant spot that could blossom. Not, who built what first. Just look at Cambridge and Boston. Both separated by the bay but both connected and a huge entertainment spot. Cambridge has Harvard Square and Boston has their stuff. So, we should be happy any development at all is brought to the table.
  8. LOL they better make that building glow like Vegas to live up to the proposed name hahahaha. But it's still awesome. Too bad they keep building stuff behind that optic tower. They need to get Ovation going.
  9. That was part of the edge of the old riverfront stadium. There was a MASSIVE amount of brick and cement they had to remove from that spot.
  10. This thread hasn't been touched in ages so I thought why not. I understand there was a sudden shortage of condo buyers so the construction was postponed. Any news?
  11. Yea and the crazy thing is you don't really see the gigantic scope of this project until you walk there. Seeing pics only shows so much. Crazy thing is the western side is even larger than the eastern. That park is going to be gigantic.
  12. Thats really cool. The Gquarter building looks great too. I was driving thru OTR yesterday and of all the streets there, Vine has the most potential to be a major hotspot. Not just because of the Kroger, but because it's so close to Music Hall, new scpa and park. I was wondering if OTR would ever have highrise condo's there. There's definitely good possibilities. off topic really quick...does anyone have ANYnews on broadway Commons? technically it sits right by OTR anyway. They should've built Ikea there lol. Could you imagine?
  13. Yea I would also like to see a timeline of everything. Just for curiosity sake. Looks like construction is cookin' so that's good.
  14. The site is being filled with more and more heavy equipment. Can't wait to see them start on the garage. Bye Bye gigantic poo patch.
  15. Great info. Thanks. That Kroghetto and lot will be torn down this summer right?
  16. At the end of Vine right at Liberty, the ground is being cleared...what are they building there? its in between two buildings.
  17. Awesome. By the way, I'm a smartass by nature so anything that sounds remotely like an argument from me...its not;) I walked down to the site yesterday and I had to really take in the scope of the project. The area of the first phase alone is gigantic. You look down and it's a 25 foot drop to the ground...jeeeeeeeesh!
  18. Of course it's a joke:)
  19. Oneglove, what does inland ports and the Civil War have to do with the title of this forum? back to the topic of The Banks...how far back will the garage be built?
  20. well, good news is we have either most of the things moving in the right direction or have things in place already to have a city like Chicago. At least there's actually progress! I was at lunch with my old girlfriend today who lives in Chicago and she has tons of friends up there. She said about 90% of them haven't driven in a month because public transit gets them everywhere. Cincy needs an L line for sure. Good thing the streetcars are in motion.
  21. That's great. Ya know, I think the absolute coolest building in ALL of downtown is that Schwart's place wayyyy up on the corner of Liberty and Vine. I think that's the intersection. You can see it when you come down the hill from Mad Frogs. It's a corner made place with cobblestone walls. It's friggin' rad looking. They need to do something with that place.
  22. Jimmy, a VERY BIG year indeed. Not only that, but we'll also have the new SCPA built and operational. Since its the nations one and only K-12 arts school, that should draw new interest into OTR. The streetcar is huge though. Get that connected to Uptown and all this, we'll start to see numbers growing here instead of declining. Kind of makes you wonder what our city would've been like had the great depression not happened and our subway was built. Can someone say Chicago-like?
  23. Under the two towers, I think we need a video rental store, and a big book store. More will follow like small cafes or something. But man do we need a book store and movie joint.
  24. Well, regardless, skyscrapers and monuments don't appeal to everyone. Look at the space needle. That thing is so out of place looking that its borderline ridiculous. But since everyone is used to it, nobody really cares. QCS looks great slimmed or not.
  25. Can the caps support the weight of small stores?
