Cincinnati: East End: River's Edge
I'm glad they're fixing up Eastern Avenue. That place was starting to look like a giant toilet lol.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
Agreed. The good thing is we have the cheapest land for fortune 500 companies to build their HQ's. We have good momentum now with all the developments, now all we need is companies to want to move here and fill up all the surface parking lots...EHEM BROADWAY COMMONS!

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Mecklenborg you have a good point. Take a look at all the surface parking lots we could use for maybe a 5-10 story parking garage! But the thing about the people not agreeing with a connector aren't seeing the big picture. There IS a demand for it, its just not recognized yet. If people want proof that a connector would work, just go to Boston/Camrbidge. Even though a subway and not a streetcar connects Harvard square in a straight shot into downtown Boston, that connection alone is huge. We have our Clifton hospitals and UC on that line while Cambridge has MIT and Harvard...it's a no-brainer and we NEED it.

of course...waking up the people might be a tad problem;)

Well what I meant by pool hall is put in 15 to 20 tables and maybe a bar and some good music. Who knows it could be a good thing...and for cyrin' out loud there needs to be a good nightclub in Clifton. It could work. Not necessarily a major upscale club, but a nice one with a respectable dress code. It's a good spot and would liven that strip up into the night hours. Plus, once the other stuff is built across the street, we could have ourselves a pretty kickass area right there.

June for the garage demolition! it's going to take a while to get used to seeing a new tower.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
That article was written by someone who clearly STILL doesn't think it will be built and doesn't want to see it built. Just ignore the major skeptics, they're a waste of time.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Ah OK...makes sense. Thats good because it will make the giant mud pit disappear even faster. It's going to be strange seeing views of the riverfront without the giant mud pit. But at the same time I think we can all give a sigh of relief. Now all we need is to plan something awesome for Broadway Commons. That's a giant cement no-man's land. Is there a thread for that?

Aren't they planning on starting the construction of the park at the same time as Phase 1? the reason I ask is because I thought the money raised to build the park is separate from The Banks and could begin at any time.

They need an arcade in that strip or a good pool hall.

Rando that's hilarious hahahaha. Yea, 700WLW tends to "hide" what's actually happening eh? I was down at groundbreaking today and that was the first time I've ever set foot that far down there. The place is HUGE. You really don't get the scope when you look at the renderings. You have to see it. The area for Phase 1 alone is huge. Hopefully all the haters will actually see its happening.

Newport and The Banks together could virtually be the biggest entertainment spot in the entire Mid West. Just think of the potential.

Cincinnati: Corryville: University Village
See, this is what I love to hear..multiple big projects happening at once. There's an ungodly amount of potential once the streetcars are in and connecting uptown to downtown. When I lived in Cambridge, MA for an internship...it was great because I could walk to Mass. Ave and either go to Harvard Sq or downtwon Boston. I see downtown Cincy and Uptown virtually capable of the same awesomeness. Whatever happened to that cool skyloop proposal?

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
The reason WTC had less spaces is because more people in downtown NYC DON'T NEED CARS IN THE FIRST PLACE. That's the beauty of big city living with great transportation...something people just don't quite get.

Well, as long as its a unique market like Findley, then we won't have to worry. If and when OTR is completely reborn, people won't only want to go to OTR for the Findley Market. Think about it...Fountain Square and OTR could potentially be two huge places to shop. Spread the wealth my friend;)

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
You guys have some good points. The problem is that not many people in Cincy have any idea how a major city works. Leaders kill projects like this because they're scared of failure and scared of looking bad if such projects fail. Bortz is awesome and yes it was great the way he kept his cool. We have fantastic ideas put on the table, and somewhere down the line there's at least one to two key people saying no just because they CAN. The great thing is Qualls and other council members really want to see the streetcars become a reality. Where was all this enthusiasm in the 90's?.

Does anyone know when the dump trucks and all that will be moving on in?

^ I agree. Our city does, after all, attract fortune 500 companies. Maybe we'll get that or something. Bottom line I think any out of town company will see the great progress downtown is getting and want to build there immediately. Eagle was too involved with QCS and kind of put the 5th and Race on the back burner. Their list of priorities along with our city were clearly shown. Not that its bad. That whole area along fountain square and the business district has so much potential its scary.

Isn't there supposed to be a market put in on Fountain Square (inside the enclosed shortcut to 6th st?) Yea a 30-40 residential tower would be good. The views would be great.

Cincinnati: West End: The Gateway Park District (Union Terminal)
Yea something needs to be done about the tunnels. Either way, at least ONE of them should become operational. They have a huge water pipe running inside the Central PKWY tunnel. A lot of people say Cincy isn't large enough to house a subway. But they fail to realize at the time of it's initial building, Cincy was growing faster than Chicago. It's shocking to see what it could have been.

Did they ever mention what those two pointed buildings in front of the Freedom Center will be?
