Every design is ugly to someone.

To be honest though, I don't think thousands of students will give a crap about the architecture. They just want to drink, shop, and not be bored while close to campus and where they live.

Does anyone have any info on the high-rise spot for the first phase...and the hotel? I just remember seeing that in renders.

I do hope we get a 30+ story building over Macy's but hey, Fifth & Race is finally getting something!

I think the height is just right. Just look at the spot. We would need something 30+ stories just to rival Carew and the neighboring hotels. Coming down from the cut in the Hill or anywhere really. It will be a much better presence walking on foot.

I'm not sure why you keep mentioning the BBB--which is a pay-for-membership organization, as I understand it. That's like saying they aren't a member of the Chamber of Commerce. They aren't a member of the Chamber of Commerce either?!?!?! jk  The city will get what they pay for.

This thread is full of win. Don't understand why you are grouping my reply to a legit question with a legit response with that other guys comment. I'm so blunt that I come off as being a jerk sometimes. Sorry if I offend.

^I was wondering this myself. It sure is different driving past there and not seeing those buildings. Personally I can't stand that Kroger. I feel as if its a giant trash can and we're ants walking around in it. I'm just surprised the manager has let it go that long LIKE THAT for all these years. Looks like residents have two options then...get to the new Kroger off 471 or travel down Ludlow. The Ludlow one is closest to being ghettofied so that gets my vote. I can't wait until that whole lot is redone.

I'm not trying to start anything here. But after reading, I've come to the conclusion that certain people living in Cincy don't actually like it here. Its sad. The strange thing is they find excuses to stay and bash it. The streetcar is being built whether haters like it or not and it will be reaching U Square in the future. Bad attitudes about positive progression will eventually make haters very lonely. Cincy has her share of haters and right now but with all of this progression, they're being left in the dust.

There's still going to be a highrise above it correct?

The public likes and is jaded with mundane architecture. There's only a small portion of the Cincinnati population that could probably visually handle new stimulating architecture.

TheHemroid replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionDoes anyone anticipate Gateway Quarter's success to travel North of Liberty. Renovation is definitely needed North of Liberty. It's horrid but could be so much more. Vine has been quickly transformed so I don;t see why the success couldn't continue there.

I second that. I lived in L.A. In-N-Out is literally the best burger joint of the West. Best Drive-thru burger joint also. That could be a very fun spot.

Please no McDonald's at The Banks. There are plenty of other places one can kill themselves. Just don't do it there.

Are there any midrise to highrise residential units planned for this site? Any idea on height?

I'll have to check that out. Thanks! Speaking of friendly competition and I want everyone to listen to this. Do not, I repeat DO NOT park in that Pomodori's Pizza lot if you're going to Adriadico's. They'll tow you in a heartbeat. Those cooks literally come out of that back door and tell you to move the car. They need to fix that parking situation pronto.

I love the fact this spot has been taken care of. Its almost like a slap in the face for Eagle Realty because they had so many chances to develop that land and 3CDC takes over. Almost instantly they got something done. It just goes to show where certain priorities are within businesses. Of course I could be wrong but 3CDC was always the best choice.

Eh it doesn't matter. Anyways, I ate at that new Adriadicos. Great location. Its perfect for what's going on up there.

Kjbrill is angry because he never got into DAAP or went to school in the first place so yeah jmicha, its insulting. I graduated from there and loved it. Back to the subject at hand, wonder why they don't just open all lanes and have no parking on Calhoun. That would open two more lanes. Its getting bad up there. It might actually require people to walk

Does this mean we won't have to look at ghetto trash hanging out? Its amazing how that very thing abruptly stops at the McDonalds.

Yeah Johnny Rockets is nasty. What they have going for it is the old style restaurant look and jukeboxes(do they still have those at each table?) Other than that, people will go to this one for a while just because its new. It might even become trendy and everyone participating will have absolutely no idea why they still eat the food.

Coolest part about that building is the steeple. I wonder if they can detach it and move it somewhere else.

Maybe some sort of sporting venue decked out in Bearcat stuff only. Almost like a flagship spot. Sure there are other bars and such including the Catskeller but maybe one large central spot for all UC people to gather during game days and such. Retired numbers, pictures, clothing, food etc.

I still think a large pool hall would be great there. Surround it by food. Chaching.
