  1. LOL! Well, there are also a lot of idiots and ignorant people in this city giving out false information based on what the news says and other ignorant people. There's so much negativity said about downtown that its almost laughable. Having actually seen things first hand, I've come to realize a lot. 1) You will only get shot in OTR if you deal drugs or are a black man from a neighboring city coming down there to do or deal drugs. 2) There's only a handful of streets in OTR that are actually dangerous. 3) Naysayers talk crap about Cincy because they themselves have never experienced success so they point fingers and want to deny success of others 4) The Banks is attracting people and has already started to live up to its expectations 5) Suburbanites and downtown occupants both want a great city, we just have to get past the people who bash it whom haven't been downtown in years but think they know it all.
  2. I think its all opening really fast considering people are already living there;)
  3. Hey all. It's been a while since I've posted! yikes. I've walked down there and the progress is great.
  4. I'm glad the Reading buildings are coming down. They're disgusting looking except that really cool old one (don't know the name) but everytime I drove down Liberty to get on 471, I'd see that gross fenced in lot with ugly trees on the corner and old machinary. Good riddance!
  5. The Freedom center just reminds people of the past which causes racism to still exist today. People don't know how to shut up about it and they wonder why it keeps manifesting. That's why you go to a peace rally and not an anti-war rally. It is absolutely insane that we have to still listen to BS today about what happened almost 200 years ago. Was it a horrible time? ofcourse it was. Racism is horrible and so is slavery. But when are people going to let go? Bottom line...when you relive the past, you get the same results today.
  6. To this day, I still wish the Freedom Center would be converted to a theater. Its a cool looking building, big enough, and at the center of The Banks, perfect. The subject matter in the building is definitely important but the location sucks and interest is very low.
  7. I'm just glad all these renovations are moving closer to that Kroger. Its driving out all those thugs. As sad as that the Smitty's fire was, at least something good came out of it. All of those dealers aren't there. It kind of changed things really fast. Ofcourse, I'm in LA and sadly I haven't been to downtown in 4 months:(
  8. It could actually work if done right. I just moved to LA and in Santa Monica, they have 3rd Street Promenade where its completely blocked off from vehicles and the place is bustling like you wouldn't believe. Ofcourse we're talking stores everywhere lining the street but you get the idea. Ha, its atually too bad they couldn't erect a revolving restaurant tower on that traingular piece of land and have a park under it.
  9. ^Oh wow you guys weren't kidding^
  10. Pardon my not knowing, but what exactly is COAST? All I've ever heard about them is negativity. Ha I don't think I've ever heard one good thing about that organization.
  11. People, you're going to give yourselves a heart attack with all this worrying. Calm down. They just started the thing. Let them build:)
  12. I also think people are getting their panties in a bunch thinking The Banks will immediately bang out the best tenants we could possibly imagine. Truth is everyone has different tastes. What we think is mediocre might be phenominal to a bunch of other people. A country bar is obviously going to attract an enormous amount of people from NKY( no offense but they do listen to a lot of country in KY;) There isn't any other place like that for miles and miles. Bobby Mackey's doesn't count. I don't like country but I'd rather see that go in than another FB's...and about the grocery. I think an Aldi's would be great down there if they don't land a Trader Joe's or something.
  13. Probably why its moving into a brand new space;)
  14. ^I just get fed up with them that's all. Anytime something cool is happening like bridge development, casino etc...there's always a counter article immediatly published.
  15. Most of the people that work at the Enquirer don't like living in Cincinnati but are too dub or do't have the balls to move away.
  16. Um, did I read that correctly? Does it actually say $1.59 million? wow that's beyond a steal.
  17. You and me both. Actually, having something built at Broadway Commons will be the biggest difference for me. The biggest, ugliest lot I've ever seen will FINALLY be gone. I'm happy about QCS. I would love to see a wall of towers down 3rd street.
  18. Any word on possible tenants for the new office building?
  19. ^I've asked that same question to a construction worker and he said they have to let the first layer settle for a certain amount of time before the second layer goes on. Otherwise you get cracks and massive dips and ripples in the pavement:)
  20. Yeah but they aren't young people. They're still stuck on hokey names.
  21. I doubt it'll take another ten years. Look what happened to downtown in the 80's. We got about 4 or 5 towers. BUT, We'll see. Hey at least its already on the drawing board;)
  22. Good point. I always wanted to see a monster building go into 4th and Plum but there's also those two huge lots next to what was going to be The Edge. Plus the casino not far away. Sounds kinda corny but I've always liked big downtowns where the highway either goes between skyscrapers or right up against them. Cincy can have that if it expands East.
  23. ^Hey the great thing is these places are overflowing. That just shows people aren't scared to go down there anymore. Can't wait to see the progress when I visit!
  24. Those aren't pool halls. Those are places that have a few pool tables. And why suddenly defensive?
  25. Well, the good thing is they're giving the students a survey to see what stores should really go there. I think that'll pay off because most of the people surrounding UC are young anyway. I've been saying all along, Uptown Commons needs a pool hall. I think that would draw so many people there.
