  1. I think that the Human Transit article hits on some true, unspoken thoughts. In Columbus we're about to realign some of the bus routes to get them off High Street at Broad Street, and I can't help but feel that there is a desire to get the bus riders off High Street. It may be good to spread out the actual buses to avoid congestion, but at the same time I feel that it has ulterior motives as well.
  2. I think this new design shows more of a reference to that Hampton Inn project down Spruce at High Street. Keeping the facades of the current buildings lends a greater appreciation for the history of the area. I really like this style and wish that those Parks Edge Buildings being built at Neil and Spring would have incorporated the old Ohio Pen facade into it, if the facade still is around.
  3. It seems like Barons Bus is looking to pick up where Megabus left off. I took two round trips on Megabus, once to Cincinnati and once from NYC to Boston. The Cincinnati trips all were on Lakefront buses but the NYC Boston route was on one of their coaches. They were good for what it was, low fare transportation. It seems that bus transportation has an undeserved bad reputation. It fits a niche that serves those without their own automobiles.

You really piqued my interest with the mention of the Moneypenny Hammond Building. I found a page with some pictures of the west side of High Street from that era including the Monypeny Hammond Co. Building on Columbus Railroads (can't post link due to low post count, but as a long time lurker I'm going to work on that). What a great building.

  6. Hi Everybody! I have been a long time lurker on this forum, and have made a few comments here and there, but now I am going to do what I need to do. Post photos. I am in a job that takes me around town, and I have been taking my Fujifilm E510 with me. Whenever I get the chance I have been snapping pics. These are just the first batch of photos I have ready to share. I would like to take a second to say that GIMP is a great help in making adjustments, but none the less I have only scratched the surface of it. I mostly am using it to correct images that are crooked, and it is a godsend for that. I am welcome to any feedback on these photos, as I would like to become a better photographer. Jeez, I think I need to just get to the photos.
