  1. LOL. If he pulls off a win, Kurt Warner may have claim to greatest QB in NFL history. Suck it, Favre and your interceptions record. Gotta root for the Cards, though Warner is a bit of a bible-thumping freak, it's nice to see them finally have some success.
  2. I have no idea why he would call. It was a recorded survey from the Republican party. I'm registered a Democrat, but before I knew any better I voted against my own self-interest and for Republican candidates.
  3. Doesn't this hold true for any city in the U.S.? People today are mobile and most of your standard run of the mill jobs can be found in pretty much any city, except where dictated by the specialzed job industries (movies/TV in LA, Broadway or high fashion in NY, etc.). Sure. The threads held the Rust Belt cities together are gone, though. At least in the west and south the climate can give folks a reason to be there, up here it seems to discourage staying.
  4. Hartline has no business leaving. Not saying he is beholden to tOSU, just that he's not very good. Wells is a legit first-rounder, Washington is "meh." Those staying are wise to do so, and THANK GOD Kurt Coleman is one of them.

-10 in Oxford when I drove in today. My ears felt like they actually were crumbling from the cold. I like it, puts hair on my chest.
  6. Interesting that the very thing that enabled Detroit to thrive, cars, lead to the demise of glorious travel spaces like Michigan Central and Buffalo Central Terminals. Even air travel relaxed when everyone (relatively speaking) could afford to drive. The industrial midwest is going to have to completely reinvent itself in order to maintain whatever quality of life it may have left, IMO. There is no reason to live in places like Cleveland, Detroit, or Pittsburgh anymore unless they are highly personal ones, even Cincinnati holds nothing for people who weren't born there. Maybe the green thing will do it, I won't hold my breath. I saw Youngstown, Ohio try and try to reinvent itself in the past to no avail. I figure until the well-off parts of the nation start to feel the same pain nothing will be done to help the failing parts.
  7. LOL! I was thinking the same thing! I'm thinking the writer and editor didn't know New Mexico was part of America? Edit: crappy quoting system can die in a fire.
  8. Asking questions about the Republican party, taxes, gay marriage. LOL, they will never, ever learn. Further lulz @ the tricky "Would you agree the Republican party left you?" Ummm..no, I would not. I left them, thx.

Brad Miller would be HUGE. I'm in Oxford and :love Wally, but he simply isn't getting it done on defense and really isn't supplying much offense. Good dude, but the Cavs have to win it this year. BTW, Lebron in GQ this month. Hawt.

Self-checkout is Ok, but I still like interacting w/people. I don't get to talk to a lot of people so I take what I can get.

LOL @ the Ohio side of that division. Complete and utter failure.

Be careful. Is it that hard to shovel the drive. Hell, everyone has a snow blower these day or kids. I'm sure there are kids out there that are going door to door (do they still do that?) asking people if they need their drive done. My brother and I had to go out and shover the drive when we were kids and we shoveled our neighbors drive. We have a neighbor w/a snow-thrower, he helps out a lot of folks. Weird how people will take the time to do the drive but not the walk--we depend on cars so much I guess that that is the most important passage to clear? My problem is when I beat the plow to clear the drive the bastards will dump that heavy street snow at the end of our drive making shoveling that much more strenuous. I use to do one neighbor's drive for 10 bucks, she was sweet. My mom has a Gravely w/a plow attachment so my brothers now do hers. Winters of my youth smell like exhaust.

Why do you some people buy a SFH's, then don't do the "neighborly" things they are suppose to do? I had to shovel the snow on Saturday and I hated every disgusting minute of it. I'm getting dangerously close to "he had a heart attack shoveling snow" age. I like the challenge of it and find a clean drive very satisfying, but I can see why dudes (and it is mostly dudes) buy it while shoveling, it's very strenuous.

I don't like tailgaters and will break-check their asses every single time. Also, when folks follow me in their car as I walk to my parking space. I mean seriously, how much effort would it take to get your lazy ass out of the car and walk the extra 30 yards? Dear God in Heaven.
  16. I once saw photos of a church that had been let go to the point of losing its roof. The people of the neighborhood reinforced three walls and turned it into a garden. I'll try to find the pics.

Yeah, this sounds kind of counterintuitive. Don't folks read blogs for the convenience and interactivity? Damn you web 2.0 and your trickery!
  18. Good job, guys. Love the narrative and the photos are sweet, too. Didn't know Cincinnatans were butt-hurt over Sam Adams, understandable, but you're missing a good beer.

My 2009 Debut Hot. I've been banned several times, they beg me to come back though. I wish they wouldn't, I may actually make something of my life.

Pretty close, I think. But the correct answer is Bison from Buffalo, New York hoodwink bison whom bison from Buffalo, New York also hoodwink. Right?
  21. Lived in Warren 24 years, went to YSU and used to drink on the Southside of Youngstown, never found my way home w/out driving through some SKETCH @ 2am. LOL. I think 711 opened since I've been gone. Next time though, I got it.

    No, it's not dirty.

Stole this from Avatar-X @UER.ca, see if anyone can decipher it w/out cheating (because I can tell if you cheated): Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo. It's a grammatical sentence and actually has a meaning.
  24. My brother and sister both work for what was WCI. I take umbrage @ the attitude that impoverished parts of America are somewhat less than American. Look around, there's more of that type of city scape than there is your Hyde Parks or Indian Hills. Admittedly, I am from Warren and it pains me to see its demise, but it's still home when I can get there and still holds a sense of wonder for me. I had to laugh @ the refs. to the Space Center--coming home this time I was distracted on 76 and passed up the route 5 exit and had to take Bailey Road to get to Warren. Then I went out in Boardman, and tried to come home via 680, again got lost and had to get off on--Bailey Road. LOL. Can someone tell me if there is an exit for 11 north off 680? All I see is Salt Springs.

I think it would be cool to talk to residents about their neighborhoods, get their perspective on where they live. You could probably just walk around a neighborhood, find a random resident and ask them about their experiences. Kind of like making "found" essays. Katherine Durack does something like this for the Xavier NPR station except hers is more "poetic," if that's the proper term, and totally from her perspective. Sounds like a wonderful project, good luck!
