  2. I was thinking about this, I planned it such that it would originate from Public Square, which in my plan had all the middle traffic cut out such that it is a pedestrian only square. It would then go all the way down Superior->Detroit. I was liking light rail more, but whatever is more cost effective.
  3. Awesome shot. Glass coming in patches.
  4. ^Yeah the ones next to HOB have been redone since summer at this point. The masonry work is great.
  5. I am still boggled by this project.
  6. Snail pace, still union troubles?
  7. If this is foreal they shouldnt mess with the developer, this is good news for their community.
  8. Well yeah Rockefellar, but I sort of consider that not so much WD. But I see your point.
  9. Anyone been by the site lately?
  10. BTW, am I correct in assuming this is the tallest building in the WD?
  11. What do you suppose a lot not unlike the one Pinnacle is sitting on is worth at present market values?
  12. I was hoping for more residential units.
  13. Campbell wants casino Mayor pledges to push for a statewide vote on gambling Friday, December 10, 2004 Mike Tobin, Plain Dealer Reporter Mayor Jane Campbell says one of her top priorities next year will be working to bring a casino to Cleveland. "Cleveland cannot afford to see money leave town for that particular form of entertainment," she said at a City Hall news conference. Campbell will spearhead an effort to get a statewide initiative on the November 2005 ballot. It would amend the Ohio Constitution to give cities the right to vote on whether they would allow gambling within their borders. A Campbell spokesman said later that the mayor's focus is on bringing one casino to the city but the effort could lead to more than one casino in Cleveland. The mayor joins several business leaders and state politicians who have endorsed casino gambling as one solution to Ohio's economic woes. Her endorsement Thursday, less than a year before she faces re-election, will help push the issue to the forefront. Campbell spoke at a sometimes-raucous news conference where she laid out her "action plan" for 2005. She faces a tough re-election bid in November and, with cheering Cabinet members surrounding her Thursday, her news conference at times seemed like a campaign kickoff rally. 17. Shipping Tonnage Up at Port Shipping tonnage is up at the Port of Cleveland and on the Great Lakes this year, giving shipping industry representatives hope that the economy is heading up again. Shipping tonnage of materials including iron ore, limestone, salt, cement and imported steel has increased 30 percent over last year at the port, officials say. On a side not, I talked to the director of the port athourity and he commuted to me that the port generaly feels all the trends 6 months in advance, be it boom, or bust. This is good news, lets just hope we can get that port moved soon.
  18. We realy need to find an energy source (ETHANOL-we have tons fo corn!!) to fuel these trains to dramaticly drop the price. No (average) student has $85-$95 bucks to drop on a rail ticket if you expect to get great ridership. You really need to get into the $30s before this can really become viable for the average blue collar joe to say "hey, lets go to motown for the weekend with the family on the train". Thats jsut my take.
  19. Thats clever, if you cant bring transit to the people, bring the people to the transit.
  20. Rta Strikes Deal for Development at Rapid Station RTA has reached a tentative agreement with a developer to build a complex of two hotels, four restaurants, a bank branch and an indoor parking garage at the Brookpark Road Rapid Station. Developer Gilbert Singerman could start construction next year on the $16 million 1,000-car parking garage and rapid station. Singerman would have three years to line up hotels, restaurants and other tenants. An RTA board committee gave its OK on the project this week. The full board votes Dec. 21.

  24. Quote:actually i generally hate artic busses because when they come in yeah nice the bus is bigger, but service is decreased as less busses come by! watch what happens it'll be fewer busses coming along you'll see! Well Im not sure about this "artic" bus thing but according to the literature buses will infact run more frequently, a pace a rush hour which is about once per 5 minutes. It will also improve service as I understand it because at one point many bus routes cover Euclid and now once runs the entire stretch from DT PSQ to East Cleveland. We will just have to wait and see.
