Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
They want to encourage local business, but they hire a contractor from Alabama? FYI Miller Valentine was also in the running and they build outstanding projects. Not to mention they are from southwest ohio War Hypocrisy.

Cincinnati - Help me price a building
Go to the Library and check out a R.S Means construction cost book. The prices are inflated about 15% right now because of the current economy, but it will get you a estimate. Then you can contact a contractor to get a hard estimate.

Cincinnati: Corryville: Vernon Manor Redevelopment
It is sad the the city is giving the building to the people that destroyed it.

Cincinnati: Corryville: 2600 Vine Redevelopment
Prospective development caused the Vernon Manor to close and i do not like development either. Having a theater close to campus will cause the Esquire to close. Which will start the slow demise of ludlow Who will take Martinoes old spot?.. ..... Another Wireless store that sells weed. The only thing that is needed in this area is more student housing. McMillion manor should have been built hear at least it would have brought money to uptown, not to the taco bell on mcMillion which just sped up the process of turning another surviving neighborhood to the demise of urban sprawl.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
David, I'm surprised Your such an uptown ambassador, but yet you have never heard of the Vernon Manor. Actully the first time I knew of the Vernon Manor was when I stayed there as an 8th grader attending my sisters swim meet at St. X. My father (a UC grad) showed me around what he claimed what was left of UC (aka UC in 2001). What I remember most is the Indian students playing cricket on what is now the baseball field. I still laugh everytime I see people playing cricket becuase, I have never seen cricket before that time either way the Vernon Manor is a serious gem, and cannot fall fate to the Hotel Alms

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
The manor is far from dumpy. I have stayed their and it was very nice. It has charactor that todays cookie cutter, cheap, shiny brass hotel interiors lack. Plus the fact you could stay in the same room the beatles, for 70 bucks a night. You can't do that at a holiday inn express. They also have a true hotel bar. ;)

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
The only thing that scares me about a new hotel in Clifton is the possible loss of business to the Vernon Manor. The absolute last thing Corryville needs is the Veron manor shut down and that building turned into section 8 houseing like the old hotel building in Walnut Hills.

Panhandling/Scamming stories
I live around U.C and the classic story that I have heard about 5 times is the flat tire story. A decently dress man, (1 time it was a women) will ask if you are a Christian, then he will ramble on about how he got a flat tire and his children are waiting in the car. If you stop and talk with him he will also go into his job history, but if you just keep walking he will give you the shorter version. Anyway he goes on and ALL he needs is a few buck so he can get fix a flat to fix his bum tire. I see him quite a bit and it is always the same story. I sure am glad his tires are picking up and the nails in clifton. ;)

Idiotic construction
"Is the construction science lab at OCAS?" I posted them in the construction science computer lab. But we do have a high bay lab at OCAS, with a concrete pressure tester and other material testers.

Burj Dubai Photo taken on 8/8/08 (WOW)
If you look at the middle right of the photo you see a 4 story structure, that appears to be more that a block. Housing some MEGA A.C units. I bet that building SPINS the meter.

Idiotic construction
I posted some of these pictures in the Construction Science lab at UC. I think everyone got a good laugh.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati News & Info
Regarding Langsam, They are replacing the roof which is well over due. Half of the book racks on the 6th floor where covered in plastic to protect the books from the leaking roof. Not to mention the rain buckets that seemed to be every where.

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati News & Info
The YMCA has lots of structural damage, Some UC students decided to do some urban exploring in the YMCA and one fell through the floor. This happened at the end of spring quarter. I have talked to many professors at OCAS and most do not want to be moved to main campus. This goes for the tenured professors, and the adjunct faculty.
