  1. Here's an article from the Enquirer about the latest round of cuts. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news...ti-airline-cuts-kentucky/24701445/ It'd be nice to see JetBlue, Alaska, Virgin America, or Southwest add some flights but I know it's a long shot.
  2. Allegiant has already expanded the length of time that they will be serving the CVG to Savannah/Hilton Head route. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2015/03/06/allegiant-expands-new-cvg-flight-before-its-first.html
  3. Wow! I didn't see Las Vegas getting doubled up. I'm also surprised about the Florida destinations. Winter will be ending soon (hopefully) so it just doesn't make much sense to add that many flights to Florida right now. I guess they are expecting the cutbacks from Delta to really help them. The new service to Atlanta doesn't surprise me, they are building up there. I am kinda surprised that they didn't add O'hare though.
  4. Allegiant flies to Jacksonville twice per week but I get what you're saying. The frequency just isn't there. The good thing with Frontier is they seem to announce most new year round flights as daily now. I'm thinking that these new routes won't just be the traditional leisure routes. They are having a large build up at O'hare so that is an option.
  5. Frontier will be announcing new flights from CVG next week. Just saw the tweet.
  6. In regard to the subsidies thing, Columbus Dispatch had this on their blog: "Andrew Watterson, Southwest's senior vice president of network and revenue management, told me he's confident the 200 or so passengers traveling daily between Columbus and the San Francisco Bay Area via connecting flights will provide a good base for nonstop service to the region, the first since Skybus Airlines Inc. discontinued the route early in the former low-cost carrier's ill-fated life. "We only do (revenue guarantees) when we feel like it's a really good opportunity and we won't need it," Watterson said after he announced the new service Thursday morning alongside Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman."
  7. Subsidized by the City of Columbus and the county.
  8. Ha! So they could do the same to CVG as they did to CLE?
  9. ^Translation: "Other things I'd like to see are a Seattle non-stop on Alaska or Delta, a real Ultra Low Cost Carrier to come into the market like Frontier or Spirit, JetBlue to return with flights to Boston to compete with Delta, or the ultimate long-shot of British Airways/American service to London-Heathrow."
  10. Not true. That offer is valid for both Lunken and CVG.
  11. I thought Frontier had a seasonal non-stop to Seattle?
  12. Awesome news. Glad to see them expanding while Delta makes a few more cuts.
  13. After looking at their route map I can only see New Orleans as Allegiant's next destination.
  14. I think you are over reacting. This latest wave of expansion by Allegiant only shows that they are moving into mid-size cities. They even said in the Q3 conference call that they are loving the way CVG is working out. The price differences between IND and CVG for Allegiant flights won't be enough for one market to draw from the other. The only thing that might make a difference will be the destinations that are being served and it's pretty obvious that CVG currently has the upper hand there.
  15. Well now I'm even more intrigued.
  16. That's interesting. I'm going to speculate that the destinations that will be announced around the new year will either be Caribbean or west coast. Allegiant will have exhausted it's reserve of unserved southern destinations from CVG by then. I'm extremely intrigued.
  17. Where did you hear that SLC is in the running or that they will be adding a stop from a PHX origin flight? I've only heard that IND, CMH, CLE, and STL are in the running.
  18. You don't have to pick a seat but if you don't and are traveling with another person then you won't be guaranteed that you'll be seated together. The flight I checked had seats for $3.
  19. I think more low cost options are great but I was kinda hoping that Frontier was going to start flying routes that competed with the legacy carriers. I'd prefer if Frontier wasn't doing this to directly compete with Allegiant but more flights and options are a good thing.
  20. Harvesting the Sun Port Columbus International Airport invested in solar power and it seems to be paying off. Hopefully every airport will do something similiar in the near future.
  21. Allegiant is set to announce yet another expansion in non-stop service from CVG. It was pretty easy for me to come to that conclusion based off of a tweet they sent out earlier. The Enquirer confirmed it just a few minutes ago.
  22. From my weekend walk downtown. Taken with my phone.
  23. From my weekend walk downtown. Taken with my phone. Not much progress on the facade really.
  24. From the weekend walk around downtown. Taken with my phone.
  25. It's funny that you guys brought up Aer Lingus possibly adding flights to CLE. This article came out recently. Doesn't say anything specific besides a new Texas route but you just never know.
