  1. Wow, that was depressing.
  2. The main reason Adams County is so high is because a large chunk of the labor force their works weather dependent jobs. It's hard to work construction in the winter. I used to live in Adams County and have family that still does. There are plenty of people getting called back to work. I work construction and I know for a fact that a large number of guys just got called back to work this last Monday. Don't get me wrong, there is also a very large percent of the population out there that gets some form of government assistance. I also don't know if they consider farmers employed since they work on their own land but that might have something to do with the number as well.
  3. Our skyscraper is slowly going up. It went up another level today.

I know this thread is a little old but I need some help. I think I'm going to buy a bike this weekend. I'm not sure where to go but I found out that there is a shop in Fairfield (I live in Hamilton) so I'm going to stop by there. Also if anybody wants to fill me in on biking etiquette I'll take it. I'm a runner at heart and haven't rode a bike since I was a kid but my bones in my legs can't seem to take the beating anymore so I'm going to switch over.
  5. You'd be wrong in that assumption because it just rose up another level this last week.
  6. Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
  7. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
  8. The 2009 season hasn't even started yet and Cincy already has 6 verbal commits for the 2010 class. http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/school?schoolId=2132&season=2010&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncf%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2fschool%3fschoolId%3d2132%26season%3d2010
  9. When the company that I work for had us working on Westwood avenue we had to dig holes in the road that often had the old rails right in the way. That got me wondering, could those old rails be dug back up and reused? Would they have to upgrade them or just rip them out all together? Sorry if this has already been asked but I've been thinking about it a lot today.
  10. If you go here http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?Dato=20090306&Kategori=FLASH&Lopenr=303060009&Ref=AR (it's the same link that oakiehigh posted) and click on the public space tab you'll get a better feel for what it will look like. It also seems to me that the rotunda is alreadly 3 stories tall. How much taller should a doorway be? Three stories seems pretty good to me.
  11. I think they'll do alright. Housh was good but I think the Bengals have enough WR's to be alright without him. What I don't get is why he went Seattle. They suck more than the Bengals.
  12. Do these posts specify when, where and how much it will cost to get to Glenway or Peebles Corner? I'd like to stop repeating myself as well. So since you didn't look at the map and information with it you don't know where they are being considered, right? Honestly, don't you think that getting the first phase done and ensuring that it works according to plan should be the priority? Do you want the city to go ahead and tell you where they think the streetcar system will run and how much it will cost before the first phase is even funded for? Sure we all want to hear certain things about what is going to happen in the future but be realistic. If the city was to give you a quote of how much a line running to the west side would cost now, but 10 years down the road the price is double then you would be pissed and be saying that if it couldn't be built for the original price then it shouldn't be built at all (I'm not saying you specifically, but people as a whole).
  13. ^Seriously? Are you not reading any of the previous post before you make a comment? Take just a minute to get your answers so that people don't have to keep repeating themselves.
  14. I gave what I could. Things are a little tight right now. I'll try and help some more down the road when times get better.
  15. There is a platform that is a little above street level now. I don't know what it's for, probably the elevator shafts, but it can be seen from Fort Washington Way.
  16. Ah! Thanks for the clarification Uncle Rando. I guess I shouldn't have been so lazy and just clicked on the link. My bad, my bad.
  17. So where exactly is this building going to be built? Is it going to replace one of the other two buildings in Keystone Parke or is it going to be built closer to the Evanston Park?
  18. Football Announces Staff Changes Bob Diaco named defensive coordinator; Kerry Coombs & Mike Elston promoted University of Cincinnati head football coach Brian Kelly announced three staff changes, including the hiring of former University of Virginia assistant Bob Diaco as the Bearcats defensive coordinator Wednesday (Feb. 18). Kelly also announced the promotion of defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs to associate head coach and special teams coordinator/recruiting coordinator/tight ends coach Mike Elston to assistant head coach. Coombs and Elston will also retain their current responsibilities. “In any business, you’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with,” Kelly said. “I’ve been fortunate to have a great staff, and today we were able to make it better. I appreciate what Mike Thomas and the administration at the University of Cincinnati have done in helping us to continue to compete for BIG EAST Championships year in, and year out.” Diaco (pronounced DEE-ah-ko) joined the Virginia staff in Dec. 2005 as the linebackers and special teams coach. Following the close of the 2008 season, he was named the Cavaliers’ defensive coordinator. He inherits a defense that finished 31st in the nation in total defense (321.9 yards a game), 19th in run defense (115), and led the Big East in sacks (2.86). 19. If they are looking for a place. There is that empty lot across 2nd St. from Elder-Beerman. Or they could just redo the buildings across High St. from the art deco bank. It hurts to even look at that place. Not to mention that there is a parking garage already in place right behind there.
  20. Graham tagged Jim Breech, the Bengals' all-time scorer, never came close to making $2.5 million in a 13-year career that came up just short and slightly wide right of free agency. But he's happy not only for Shayne Graham, but for the many civic groups that Graham has helped during his six seasons in Cincinnati that includes the ubiquitous Kicks for Kids. While the one-year, $2.48 million franchise tag may have irked Graham some in his efforts to get a long-term deal, he acknowledged the community in a statement released through his representative. I know this is a little off topic but I could really use the help. I was recently going through my stuff in storage and happened upon a rather old book that I forgot I had. It's "History of the United States" by Matthew Page Andrews (not to be confused with "Brief History of the United States"). It was published in 1919. The book as a whole is in decent shape but I'm wanting to find out how much it would cost to get it repaired. So if anybody could help me with that I would be extremely grateful. Another cool tidbit about the book is that whoever had it back in the day they decided to write some poems on the first few blank pages.
  22. Actually, that just tells you I can make a typo, and that I don't always carefully proofread blog posts, which I usually write in a hurry. If the best you've got on my argument is a typo, that says everything we need to know about your inability to reason. We need solutions that are environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable. Why this forum opposes those concepts is beyond comprehension. So would you mind telling us exactly what it is that you believe is environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable? You know, for the people who didn't listen to the show (yes, I listened to it) and are interested in alternatives. And I don't mean just give a few examples. I actually want to hear, in detail, another alternative to the streetcar and why it would be better, cheaper, and more environmental friendly.
  23. Cincy and #4 Pitt will be playing on ESPN today at 4:00. It's one of the few Cincy games to be broadcast so I'm just trying to spread the news.
  24. Not a very important signing but it's something I guess. Bengals notebook Plackemeier is added to battle Larson Kyle Larson might have some competition for the Bengals' punting job. The team on Friday acquired Ryan Plackemeier off waivers from Washington. Since averaging 44.5 yards per punt in 2006, Larson's averages have declined by five yards over the last two years. This past season, Larson was last in the NFL in punting with an average of 39.5 yards and the Bengals were near the bottom in net punting at 34.2 yards. In 2007, he averaged 41.3 yards.
