It's an interesting facade treatment that isn't very expensive. As for you balcony haters, stop being such wimps! see: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2606/3855256580_dca234f4dc_o.jpg

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Benches = bums sleeping. Especially because of the concentration of social services nearby. I agree that at a later date, as the neighborhood as a whole comes along, they could be added easily and would be a nice touch.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Good points, hopefully the Walnut Hills area will see some redevelopment if they are able to return McMillan and Taft to 2-way streets after the new uptown interchanges are built. They've been trying to include that. The old theater building at the corner of McMillan and Gilbert is one of my favorites in Cincy.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Yeah, I like that. To me, including the Vine St. Hill is imperative to the success of the streetcar. Gilbert seems to indirect a connection between UC and the basin, and may discourage some riders.

Fast Food
Heh, similar to me, there's pretty much every possible fast food and cheap greasy food place within a 5-10 minute walk of my place, plus a few local favorites that are just as greasy and horrible for me. I frequent them, yet somehow don't weigh 300 pounds. I actually gained weight when I lived in New York City though, due entirely to the pizza and street meat. I've identified those as my weaknesses.

A .5% sales tax to build a new jail was ridiculous, and it almost seemed to me like they proposed it with the intent of having it fail. We need a new jail, but that was a terrible plan. At this point, with the budget issues and economy, all we need are more cells. Bars and concrete do not cost as much money as they wanted. On a side note, how many non-violent offenders are taking up space while repeat offenders and violent criminals are let loose? Why are people serving jail time for missing child support payments or drunk driving, while real criminals are told to come back in a few months to serve their time? Leis is right when he says the system is broken, but a 1/2 percent sales tax increase sure as hell wouldn't have fixed it.

Fast Food
I enjoy laughing at people who refuse to eat at Chick-fil-A because they're owned and operated by religious people almost as much as I enjoy the delicious sandwiches.

He is not dead, as far as any reliable source is saying at this point. Critical condition at a hospital after a domestic dispute-turned-car accident. Here's the police report: http://www.wlwt.com/download/2009/1217/21986978.pdf

Yeah, and aside from the neverending debate, I think there's a rant like 1012's on every page for the last 30 pages too.

Well we still have to wait for the tiara so we can decide if it *actually* looks taller than Carew's flag pole from every possible vantage point. Then it should be settled.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
I really don't think you guys want to hear the answer to that question.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Queen City Square
I do not know the official height of Carew's flag pole, but I do not believe it's quite 50 feet, which is the difference in height after elevation is taken into account, which it absolutely shouldn't be anyways because if that were the case Christ Hospital or Crosley Tower at UC would be our tallest building... Here's what we've concluded a few times already: We've covered this a few times already: Carew sits at 550 feet above sea level, while QCSII is at 514 feet above sea level. That's only 36 feet higher, elevation wise. (Got these numbers from CAGIS) QCSII is supposed to be 660 feet to the top of the tiara, while Carew is 574 to the top of the roof. QCSII is about 86 feet taller. Accounting for the change in elevation, QCSII will still appear to be 50 feet taller than Carew. The spire is supposed to be 160 feet, and that's pretty much what it looks like in the renderings.

wanna see what $1M gets ya in a loft in new york? bonus vs cle/cols lofts
Not the UES, just Manhattan in general. Astoria and places around there are where I've lived in the past on that budget, and didn't mind it. Having to save for the next semesters tuition while living in NYC is not a fun task.

This is good news, when I move back in a few months maybe my $800 budget can actually get me across the East River this time around, and I won't need 5 roommates to make it happen.

How has he campaigned for the job?? He's in NYC for the Hall of Fame dinner, and will not be meeting with Notre Dame at all while there, that's his word via Twitter. Sometime over the next two weeks he will "listen to what they have to say," which is not exactly an interview. Also, Notre Dame's offensive stars all declaring for the NFL Draft a year early may have an effect on Kelly's decision. Why would he want to go into a program needing a rebuilding year when he can stay on a team that's favored to win the league next year, and likely for another BCS appearance? I know I'm in the minority, but it doesn't seem like a good fit for BK and I get that feeling from the way he discusses it. He hates the media, hates the rumor mill, and just wants to focus on winning ball games. None of that is possible in South Bend.

Cincy: Any idea where these places are?
I think the first shot is the corner of Main and 7th, looking south.

I've spotted a few cameras in uptown already, notable the one on W. Daniels I'm looking out my window at from the Niehoff Studio right now. Are these a prodcut of this grant? They're two standard looking security cameras looking down the street and down an alley. So on one block of W. Daniels Street and one part of the alley between it and University.. there will be very little crime. The next block over as seen a string of very violent muggings/beatings the past week, though.

Probably with a camera of some sort, like most pictures are taken. I don't know, it could be a daguerreotype After further review, it really just looked like a Photoshopped rendering to me. It's clearly a fake. Look at some of the pixels, you'll see what I mean.

It was a good win, now the big game at Pittsburgh next week. I have a feeling there will be a good UC crowd in Heinz Field for the game, myself and a few buddies included.

Photography/Photoshop tips and tricks?
The 50mm f/1.8 is basically 100% plastic. You get what you pay for in terms of build quality, but it's definitely worth it and in the 6 months I've had mine I've never had any problems with it. It's a great lens for indoor or low-light situations because of the speed. I wouldn't leave the house without that lens! Can't go wrong for $100.
