  1. Chrysler, Sears, AT&T, etc. would all like to speak to you. Well.. at least at some point in the past they would have! With corporate architecture, they look for a balance of mundane and impressive. With QCS they went for height, and the "tiara." I'll wait until they hoist that giant thing up there to pass off judgment on it. It could end up being beautiful.
  2. Not really many surprises there.. although how a single apartment complex can have the cops called more than once per day all year long is beyond me.

Hmm.. am I the only one that agrees with just a part of that comment? As a matter of fact, it's only been the past month or so I've started to see these pics of him with white chicks pop up everywhere... I'm just sayin.
  4. Some photos from a beautiful Saturday afternoon downtown:
  5. We've covered this a few times already: Carew sits at 550 feet above sea level, while QCSII is at 514 feet above sea level. That's only 36 feet higher, elevation wise. (Got these numbers from CAGIS) QCSII is supposed to be 660 feet to the top of the tiara, while Carew is 574 to the top of the roof. QCSII is about 86 feet taller. Accounting for the change in elevation, QCSII will still appear to be 50 feet taller than Carew. The spire is supposed to be 160 feet, and that's pretty much what it looks like in the renderings.
  6. Yeah. I went through there yesterday, and every time I see the place it is exponentially closer to being unsalvageable. It's literally about to fall over into the street.
  7. Is there an official plan? Not exactly, but there's an ODOT plan for the Hopple Street interchange that preserves ROW for light rail. The ROW is designed so that there's room for a station near the interchange.
  8. Being close to the Banks, and having a similar scale to the new construction there, one could see them having some of the same uses. The first two north of 3rd street are owned by "300 Main LTD" and the next three are actually owned by Convergys. They're all designated as office land use, so take that for what you want. I think having different owners is a good sign that they aren't going to be demo'd.
  9. The homes along MLK up the hill from Hopple Street interchange to Dixmyth will almost certainly be removed when that interchange is reconfigured. The whole place is going to look very, very different. They aren't tearing them down to suburbanize, but actually to add a bike path and better pedestrian access to and from Camp Washington. Plus, the planned I-75 light rail station for UC will be right there by the Hopple Street interchange. To get to UC from there, people will walk this path. Although, I can't imagine having to walk up that hill every day.. That's one of the biggest reasons I live in CUF as a UC student, instead of Camp Washington, where I found a lot of inexpensive nice places. I couldn't bring myself to bike up that hill every day.. especially to and from my studio at 3 AM.
  10. I always use Epson (despite the fact that I have a Canon i9900 printer) papers. Specifically, the 5 star Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy. I print up to 13x19. I love that paper..

What is their address? I will send them a DVD I compiled of Shittsburgh being swept by the Bengals in 2009.
  12. ^ I print 11x14 with my XTi and they look great, as well.
  13. Yeah, parking isn't too overbuilt downtown, like it is in many other places. I get the feeling it's just about right. 700 more cars suddenly appearing would be a tough squeeze.
  14. http://www.wlwt.com/traffic/21350645/detail.html “The structure will receive a blue coat slightly darker than its current shade. It’s a color that will reflect the structure’s history and will blend nicely with its surroundings.” My mistake, I guess when I first read that article I interpreted reflecting the history as the original color. I do believe the bridge was originally tan.

Yeah, Sherman you could let him borrow a few pieces from your wardrobe to complete the look.
  16. All I know for sure is that they are stripping, priming, and then repainting the entire bridge. The new shade of blue will more closely match the original shade.
  17. Any new type of traffic system like this is bound to cause delays at first, until commuters adjust to it. However, when it backs traffic all the way up onto the feeder streets, that's just bad planning.
  18. Their reputation this year is winning and being the powerhouse of the AFC North. Johnson should help that. Off the field, I don't care about.. it's a sports team not a soap opera.
  19. On that note, I'm not a sucker, and I wouldn't ever drive all the way out to Lawrenceburg for a casino, but if I find myself downtown for a few drinks somewhere, it's very likely I may wander over and into the casino for a little while. Or even take the streetcar down from my house in The Heights. It's all about the location. Anyone else feel that way??
  20. This is impressive. Get a photo if you can. Because of the topography, it's tough to see any of Cincy's skyline from any distance at all. It's not like Columbus or Atlanta, which you can see from almost anywhere.
  21. The building I live in got sold a few months ago, and I got the shaft in comparison to what Metropole residents are getting. I think most people will be fine with this whole redevelopment, and only a few will kick up any dust, and even fewer will pay attention to it.
  22. Anywhere an exit ramp routinely backs up onto the interstate is a huge problem. Especially this ramp, because there is an on ramp within a mile or two south of it. As far as I know, there are no plans to address this at all, though. The city has had a number of consultants help it decide that the only permanent solution to fixing congestion on and along I-71 is by adding a light rail line adjacent to it.
  23. Bigger than I thought it would be, although I don't know if I can trust the scale of a horrendous rendering like that. Hopefully they get some better concepts out soon. ^ At least the density of the surrounding neighborhood is greater than Atlanta, and can provide a bit more support for such a large office building.

I still boycott Bill Cosby, Whoopi Goldberg, and Smokey Robinson because of their positions in the boycott of Cincy after the riots. When I was in NYC once, I turned down free tickets to some Broadway show because Whoopi was starring in it. I've been known to turn off TV's or change channels whenever I see someone watching the Cosby Show, etc.

Can animated .gifs work as avatars? I might try it out... Then I could constantly change the face in front of it to various Ohio politicians and celebrities. This could be fun...
