Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
Don't get me wrong, I love super-talls as much as the next guy. But Cincinnati is not even remotely in the league of those cites you just listed. How much sense does it make to build skyscrapers here when the vacancy rate is as high as it is (not high for the midwest, but we're not exactly busting at the seems for office space). Besides, we have enough tall buildings, time to fill in the rest of the spaces. Cincykidbc1.....you just described Pete Witte's dream for the Banks. This is exactly the kind of thinking Cincinnati is putting behind them. If a company wanted to consolidate a corporate HQ in Cincinnati they would have to build another building because there isn't enough contiguous office space available. That's why American Financial decided to consolidate in QCS, it's the only structure with enough contiguous space available. Not thinking big would risk losing them to some other city who starts to 'woo' them when they are thinking big.

What about an east-west alley down the center leading to garages for the houses?

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
1) Breuer Tower saved 2) Urban redevelopment in action 3) Cleveland gets Hotel Indigo 4) Additional 13-story class A office building with mixed-use lifestyle center Is everyone happy with the outcome of this situation? Sounds like a win win for the Cleve.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
According to the renderings it looks like there will be four caps total with the two inner caps being larger or about twice the size of the outer caps. I think row housing sounds good on at least one of the larger caps with park space on the smaller caps with a dog park where dogs can be unleashed to run around with supervision of their owner.

The Future of America and Its Cities
Laugh right back at those redneck, sisterloving goobers for being uncultured, unrefined and uneducated. Watching a grown man giggle when you mention symphony or art museum is enough to make you laugh. It didn't really bother me because like you said "redneck, sisterloving goobers for being uncultured, unrefined and uneducated." I take pride in being multicultural, I am just as comfortable in a suit & tie at the symphony or art museum as I am under the hood of a car or walking through the woods with a shotgun. I have also been 'teased' by some of my more 'urban' buddies for my knowledge about cars, hunting, fishing, firearms, camping or other recreations not as associated with the urban lifestyle. It works both ways... I just feel lucky to have appreciation for a variety of cultures... Now back to... The Future of America and Its Cities.

The Future of America and Its Cities
Its possible suburban growth could slow in the coming years, but the CinDay Metro sprawl probably won't slow as much as say, louisville, columbus, indianapolis, charlotte or any other city that's not forming a metroplex with another major city. Momentum is at an all time high between these two cities and there will always be people who can afford to endure the high cost of living & traveling. Getting young professionals living downtown is great & it's happening at a quickening pace every year. BUT, there is always those who opt for the suburban lifestyle and there is plenty to be offered between CinDay. Having the best of both worlds can't be all bad. I look at it as being an asset, its happening regardless...

Screw Missouri, we have more restaurants around our Arch
Another coaster is on the way, next year. That makes two since Cedar Fair has purchased paramount assets, more live shows are also scheduled under Cedar Fair. Overall I think KI will get more attention than it did under paramount. I only paid $30 for an eticket, and it was well worth the price. I think the standard gate price of $45 is well worth it, although others would disagree. People in the Cincinnati region don't seem to understand how lucky they are to have such a 'Big Time' amusement park in their backyard. I have been to Busch gardens, kennywood, dollywood, disney, & sea world and they are all low budget on thrills compared to Kings Island. Never been to any six flags, but I haven't heard many good things about them either and they don't come close on thrill rides compared to most places. When I was on the white water canyon ride some little girl was talking about the roller coasters she rode & then she says "disney world is boring compared to Kings Island" I said "thats right!" then I told her mother she has a "smart" little girl.

I have wondered what might happen to Busch Gardens if InBev does purchase AB. Would they divest the Busch Entertainment Corporation division as not being a core asset? If so, would Cedar Fair be interested? Busch Entertainment Corporation has recently moved their HQ from st. louis to orlando.

Those were two actual quotes from an article I had read. I'm not sure why they didn't mention TWA, although an airline hub isn't a HQ it's still a major corporate presence, although more symbolically. http://www.beverageworld.com/content/view/34834/92/

I am aware of both those points... Its sad that Americas most well known beer company could be sold to a foreign company. With the price that's been offered, I think it just might happen. InBev Stadium just doesn't sound right. I also understand the frustration of st. louis residents... "St. Louis residents have seen one local company after another move their corporate headquarters out of town. May Department Stores Inc. announced in 2005 it would be purchased by Ohio-based rival Federated Department Stores Inc., just after Pulitzer Inc., publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, announced it would be bought by Iowa-based Lee Enterprises Inc. More recently, brokerage firm A.G. Edwards Inc. was purchased by North Carolina-based Wachovia Corp." "St. Louis has gotten to the point where we have the brewery and the Cardinals - that's it," said John Schute, owner of the Sage restaurant and bar just across the street from the Anheuser-Busch brewery." Ok, before someone jumps on the InBev Stadium comment, I know they probably won't change the name, although it is possible.

Seems they have been so worried about Cincinnati, a foreign company slipped in to purchase missouri's most well known company and reduce them to a division. Gives more meaning to "Anheuser Busch, Columbus Ohio"

Dayton, KY: Manhattan Harbour
^ Oh Boy! Someone will... guaranteed!
-
Could Cincinnati/Dayton be in line for an NBA team?
^ Tell that to los angeles who lost two NFL teams, although that was football, but still. Larger population has an advantage but that's as far as it goes, it doesn't translate into league leading attendance. Good teams & nice venues are the major factors.

Could Cincinnati/Dayton be in line for an NBA team?
Getting an NBA team isn't based on population, doesn't anyone on here pay any attention to sports, lol... Its all about having an arena suitable to NBA standards. You build it, they will come. That has been proven over the years. Seattle lost their team to Oklahoma because seattle failed to build a new arena, although their attendance doesn't help the issue along with the oldest & smallest arena in the NBA. An example of bad to worse would be Vancouver to memphis.

Cleveland: Grand Prix News & Discussion
When Bobby Rahal crashes a meeting in support of a track, that says something. I think Cleveland will be back on the schedule next year. Not a wise decision to cut a race well liked by drivers & owners. Hopefully one of those big Cleveland companies will step up as title sponsor.

Ohio High School Football: General News & Discussion

Springtime in Youngstown’s Mill Creek Park
The Lanterman’s Mill photo is stunning! Postcard material! And this is an inner-city park!? A wood bridge, a stone arch bridge, a steel link bridge, a covered wood bridge, & what appears to be a modern vehicular bridge, a mill, a river, & multiple water falls, all in one city park? What!? No swinging bridge over the river?

Cleveland: Hotels, Conventions, and Tourism News & Info
On a more serious note, This quote is an insult to leisure travelers: "Leisure travelers who vacation, want what they don't have at home so going to a W Hotel, Loews, Park Hyatt, Peninsula or whatever brand offers them a relaxing retreat." I have been to many hotels & resorts across the country & beyond and I've never found a a place yet that can compare to what I have at home. That is marketing hype or I am not a leisure traveler.

Cleveland: Hotels, Conventions, and Tourism News & Info
But But... But it's in Cleveland, it can't be one of the best, no way! The one in new york is the best, its better than any other one, so there!! The one in los angeles is second best. The one in chicago is third best because its in chicago. The one in Cleveland in the worst one. OMG!! Someone thinks Cleveland has a good one, hahaha, roflmfao... NO WAY! All the ones are better than the Cleveland one!! The Cleveland one is like a travel lodge in newark or something... The one in new york is eight diamond, the one in Cleveland is two coal!

How many distinct highrise(skyscraper) districts does Ohio have?
As modern technology allows for more height, the skyscraper height definition continues to increase also. As it stands, with all the supertalls being built around the world, america will soon be without any skyscrapers by definition...

How many distinct highrise(skyscraper) districts does Ohio have?
I have talked to employees at the Chiquita center about that issue, but they insist everything is in order so I chalked that theory up to an urban myth. Their chief engineer is a ____... The plaza was replaced a few years ago, water leakage was addressed. On that note, I have been to the top of Chiquita and it seems to react more to high wind than similar height buildings in the surrounding area. I don't know if that is a design or structural issue. I think it has something to do with the floor height. And about that underground concrete pouring at P&G, there is more to that than you think.

How many distinct highrise(skyscraper) districts does Ohio have?
There is nothing you could ever do or say to hurt my feelings or offend me, lol... In my book you are an internet opinion like everyone else here, but there sure is a lot of bias on this UO website, especially from the Cleveland area. I find that disappointing considering I really like Cleveland. Every thread on this website is an argument of some kind or another, so no need for this thread to be different. I have generally used the generic term "skyscraper" to describe buildings over 400' regardless of floor count. I have found that 400' to be a popular mark to define skyscrapers. Height isn't based on floor count alone.
