  1. I can believe that. I hope so, its true! I've been to Miami and Miami Beach many a time. I've blended in with the Cubans just to make sure I wouldn't get caught in a cross fire. When I lived in north carolina I had a good friend & co-worker who was Puerto Rican but born & raised in miami. He always made references to the crime and what would happen in this certain situation if we were in miami. Carolina was a culture shock to both of us but he would dwell upon it too much, especially when he was stoned. He always had good stories about the Puerto Ricans vs the Cubans and the resulting turf wars. He would make comments like "These people just don't know", "How do they survive?" He was also semi-racist. Come to find out, this was his first time moving away from home & he was discovering the real world. I had ask him a few times why he doesn't move back and he always had some sort of excuse. My conclusion was, he discovered country folk & rednecks weren't as bad as he first thought. He often referred to the locals as "country folk or rednecks", With that I did concur.

  3. I have a friend who went to miami last year for summer break, the first time he ever been to miami. He and his friend were robbed at gunpoint outside a club. The first thing I told him was "Welcome to miami, I bet you didn't see that on the tourist brochure". He has his CCW but decided not to take his pistol.
  4. ^ I was actually referring to both the writers & posters. One of the posters had a good point about the marketing standpoint. Orlando definitely has some serious issues, atlanta too for that matter. In orlando, between the city & disney aggressively marketing the city as a safe family destination, people buy into it and don't realize the true issues surrounding the community. Orlando does an excellent job of downplaying anything that could possibly be negative to the city, they even get a lot of help from the media, or as much help as the media could possibly offer. I see Detroit as a victim of its own success & a victim of americas mistakes.
  5. Reinforcement for my thought that america is becoming the center of global ignorance. Sad... Simply sad... I wonder if the writer has ever been to new york, los angeles, chicago, or miami? Detroit has nothing on those cities when it comes to ghettos, crime, poverty, & run down neighborhoods.

  8. Ahh, yes. Great input. Did you bother to read any of the posts preceding yours? They are full of facts and educated opinions vs. your "Rambo with the permit will answer fire" & Making a suggestion that eighteen year old high school students would possibly be able to carry firearms to school is an ignorant statement!

Separation of Church and State was not meant to diminish ones opinion to vote based on his/her religious practices. It was meant to separate government from including laws/legislation based on any particular religion and/or endorsing one particular religion for the people represented by such government. There is a difference. Separation of Church and State is a two way street and a perfect example is taking place in Texas at the Zion Ranch run by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a breakaway sect of the Mormon church. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/P/POLYGAMIST_RETREAT?SITE=OHCIN&SECTION=AMERICAS&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
  10. ^ The only thing I find silly are some of your comments!
  11. I would have to say that walking down the street with an unholstered firearm is like asking for trouble. Its the difference between being responsible & irresponsible.
  12. ^ I agree, 'some' of the folks who attend CCW classes are there because they are scared of the world in general and they are looking for something extra to protect them from that, the others who seem scared/nervous are more scared of the class itself because they will actually have to fire a pistol & demonstrate various procedures with a degree of accuracy. I encourage everyone to attend a CCW course no matter if they plan on carrying a pistol or not for the simple fact they will learn something new that could also be useful in the future. I have never felt threatened by law enforcement or anyone for that matter when having a firearm in public. I have always had a good relationship with local law enforcement, if you make yourself familiar to them you are less likely to have an issue. When was the last time someone in Cincinnati was arrested or cited for open carry?
  13. ^ You can't just walk down the sidewalk holding a pistol in your hand, it has to be properly holstered. And no, officers won't cite you for anything if you are a law abiding citizen. If you are a felon you shouldn't have a firearm anyway. Law enforcement officers are becoming more aware of what the law actually is, and its up to law abiding citizens like ourselves to make sure others are educated about such issues. http://thereadyline.blogspot.com/2008/03/state-leos-in-dark-about-open-carry-in.html Most people in this forum didn't even realize you needed to be 21 to purchase a handgun or to obtain a CCW. Before you can even apply for a CCW, you must attend & pass an approved twelve hour Concealed Carry Course to learn & demonstrate safe gun-handling procedures, safe ammunition storage practices, laws regarding firearms, when & where to carry, understanding of self defense/deadly force, among a multitude of other things. Anyone who has any basic firearms training whatsoever know & understands that firing your weapon is a last resort. People who have CCW's are the most law abiding citizens America has to offer and are generally more educated, mature & level headed than those without. Its the people who make comments like some of the ones I've seen on this thread that we have to worry about. Some of the most well educated people I know have their CCW. Its not something people generally talk to much about if they don't know you, so you could be sitting next to someone at work who has theirs. They just might save your life someday, you never know. The looks that you give people who carry firearms are probably similar to the looks you might receive when you are in public holding hands with your same sex partner.
  14. HaHa... Blake from erlanger was an absolute moron, He received a quick dose of education to cure what ails him. His comment about how newport on the levee doing so well was a riot. I wish they would have asked him when he was there last. If I wasn't familiar with the public I would think this was staged because its so disappointing that people are so ignorant about such issues, especially when there are so many places to get information. I think they did a great job and a few callers hung up the phone with an higher IQ.
  15. I would think someone at these payday loan companies has already started looking at ways to get around this, like huge one time fees per transaction in place of higher interest rates, or something to that nature.
  16. Bye Bye Check Into Cash, I won't miss those awful commercials. Too bad the company still exists...

ROFLMAO... When I was at that age there was never enough time in the summer. We usually took at least one vacation in the summer and sometimes I took a friend or friends depending on where we were going, then sometimes I went on their vacation too. I was never bored... Also had my usual lawn maintenance customers, Had a paper route for a few years too, and still made time for the cute neighborhood girls... Ahh... the good ole days!

I say they better pray for rain, If they are religious...
  19. Being that you have to be 21 to buy a handgun anyway, there is not going to be a bunch of teens running around with concealed carry permits. Ohio also has an open carry law, you don't need a permit to open carry. Permit is needed for concealed carry only.
  20. You don't hunt with a hand gun or semi-automatic. You don't know much about hunting if you think people don't hunt with semi-autos or handguns. Do some research and you'll learn something new.
  21. WOW!! That is beautiful!
  22. It crossed my mind the other day of the possibility that a business district could spring up between Cincinnati & Dayton with office towers. I wouldn't be surprised at all. That would be well into the future but I can see it easily happening. Welcome to Daytonati, the central business district of the CinDay metroplex... I don't think most people understand what is in store for that area. Cincinnati & Dayton was long destined to become one, so when I hear people complaining about losing their 'rural character' after they moved there, 1) They are contributing to the issue at hand 2) That process started long before they moved there 3) They didn't bother to educate themselves about the area and/or development trends. 4) The previous land owners helped shape the future by selling their farms, so who are these new residents to come in and try to change things. *edit* Steiner + Associates has a great track record of successful developments, so I don't think they would build an upscale Town Center in that location if they knew it would fail. If they build it people will come, and if you are waiting for failure, it will be a long wait!
  23. I have encountered more negativity on this website than everywhere else combined, there is no question about that. This is america so I expect no less than half of the peoples opinions to be utter ignorance and The other half I expect to be educated & rational. The following statement just might be offensive to some people, but I think the naacp thrives on negativity and encourages ignorance. I find it appalling that they would not support the streetcar!
  24. ^^ I wasn't saying you in particular, but more people than not. I hope you stick to your plan, and I agree that anyone could raise a family in the city if they so choose. I don't shop at target, walmart or sams club either, although I will go to meijer if absolutely needed. I have been known to wait in the car for someone if they insisted on going to walmart or sams club, I despise those two place.
