Cleveland: 2014 Gay Games IX News & Discussion
GAY GAMES Optimism reigns in Cleveland And organizers are already predicting many other incredible, eye-popping numbers for the event, which will carry a registration fee of $135, regardless of the date. Delta Buddy Pass - What are the fees?
Well I was going to go from CLE to SFO - connecting in CVG. I finally got word from my friend but this is the first time doing this and told me I would just be responsible for taxes, but I have a feeling it might be more than that because round trip it would only be $40 in taxes. I think the only way to find out the exact price is for him to actually go through the checkout process and says hes going to do that by the end of the week, but that is kind of cutting it close with my plans. I was going to fly on 12/12/09 and return 12/14/09 and so far the plane from CVG to SFO is about half full but I have never flown standby and not sure how quickly these fill up or how many tend to fly with standby tickets. I was also looking at the reference of a round trip from CVG to TPA being $100. I looked at a round trip flight from CVG to TPA and the taxes and fees would be about $20, so I'm guessing there has to be more to the fees then my buddy has told me. By any chance do you know roughly how much a round trip flight would be from CVG to SFO on Delta Buddy Pass? I know I can fly from Akron to SFO for around $260 and want to see if I should just tell him to forget it and get me a secure seat. Any more information would be great and thanks for the answers so far.

Delta Buddy Pass - What are the fees?
I was just wondering if anyone knew what the fees for a delta buddy pass were other than the taxes. I know they use to charge 25% of the average monthly passenger yield + taxes but that information is based off of 2003 information and was not sure if the pricing structure was still the same. I'm still waiting on an answer from a friend of a friend but was hoping someone else has some information so I know whether these buddy passes are worth it or not.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
City designers are cool to hot new LeBron James mural proposed for downtown There is a picture of it on the site CLEVELAND, Ohio -- LeBron James, 10 stories tall and bare-chested, could join the growing number of athletes who are baring more to build their brand. But Cleveland design officials think the massive mural that James and Nike Inc. want downtown could use a more positive tone. And it should include a nod to Cleveland, they say. Same link - just updated information with the actual pic that Nike wants up. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2009/11/nikes_proposed_new_lebron_mura.html

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Nike's proposed new LeBron James mural causes a dust-up CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 10-story image of a bare-chested and battle-ready LeBron James could use a more positive tone and a nod to Cleveland, design officials say. Cleveland's design review committee this morning tabled a request from a local representative of the Nike Co. for a new banner to replace the one hanging from a Gateway office building, near The Q. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2009/11/nikes_proposed_new_lebron_mura.html

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Coming to Cleveland: The world’s second-ever medical convention center CLEVELAND, Ohio –Cleveland’s back-to-the-drawing-board medical mart and convention center has frustrated local politicians. But, in a development even more significant to the success of the project, recent construction setbacks suggest one competing medical convention center could open ahead of Cleveland’s. Executives running the Nashville Medical Trade Center say they’re on track to open by the end of 2012 — and could open temporary convention space for the project by the middle of next year. http://www.medcitynews.com/index.php/2009/11/coming-to-cleveland-the-worlds-second-ever-medical-convention-center/

College Project on Media accounts of Cleveland...
Honestly I have a ton of these from the last 2 years - I actually have a site I was working on that compiled a bunch of these also. I could easily fill a few pages on here... I don't have much time right now but I will keep updating this post. Another question is how far back are you looking at for movies, music and articles? I see that you have some from about 10 years ago, so what is the limit if any? You should also really watch the 30 rock episode on Cleveland its kinda cool. Music 216 (Hey Hey) - 216 NEW VIDEO "HEY HEY" Pretty good if you like hiphop / rap Cleveland BY T.U.N Entertainment The Awakening - A Sports Time Ohio thing but was shown nationally KOLGATE- 216 TV 30 Rock episode called Cleveland - Hulu - 30 Rock: Cleveland Get Away Here is the 30 rock full Cleveland episode http://tvshack.net/tv/30_Rock/season_1/episode_20/ Movies "Proximity" 2001 Warner Bros. Cleveland - Transformers (Someone must be a fan)
Apparently the guy made these transformers on his own and bumblebee took him about 5 months or so. That is what a friend of mine said who lives down the street, so not sure if it is entirely true. If it is though that's pretty damn good.

Ohio Gambling News
What about this other amendment some are pushing to change the casinos' terms? I heard on the news that they are pushing for new terms, the few I heard was they want a 60% tax for the state as well as open up the process to bidding and even maybe allowing changes to the locations. They said it will take a 3/5th majority of the legislature to place a constitutional amendment on the May ballot. Will this really get any traction or get approved and if it does how will this change anything, especially if they get this going before May?

Gilbert said earlier tonight that construction in Cleveland would start early next year. Is that really realistic and if it is, does that mean they already have most of everything decided?

Ohio Gambling News
Yea and most of the counties going against the measure are already at 100% of the precincts and Franklin county is at 85%. There are still 13 counties though that have not started counting and not sure which way they will go but they are not as heavily populated.

Great Lakes: Cleanup Efforts
Didn't know where to put it - I looked up on the search for everything regarding great lakes and didn't find the topic - I know there is one somewhere since this has been discussed before. President Obama quietly signs landmark Great Lakes clean-up bill WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Without fanfare, President Barack Obama has okayed a large cash infusion to help clean up the Great Lakes, quietly signing a bill that was years in the making and marks a rare bipartisan milestone. The former senator from Illinois, which borders Lake Michigan, did it on Friday. Few people knew about it until Monday. That’s because the measure with $475 million for the Great Lakes was part of a broader spending bill that included money for other projects, including $4 million with which to buy additional property for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2009/11/president_obama_quietly_signs.html

Cleveland: Retail News
Why so negative?? I personally wouldn't shop there but they also do stuff for their community at least. VILLA supports programs that create access to information and technology and increase enrollment in 2-4 year colleges and universities. VILLA has partnered with schools, local governments and neighborhood groups to improve the community through community service, educational initiatives and economic investment. VILLA hires young men and women directly from the neighborhoods of its stores. The store managers and sales experts are not only trained to be excellent managers but also to be community leaders within these neighborhoods. This fall, VILLA donated over 1,000 VILLA School Packs to students in our communities. Students in Cleveland, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia, Pa. received VILLA School Packs They also do community clean ups and development and a bunch of other things. Are they perfect or a great store probably not but at least they have positive outlooks on their community and while we might hate it, it targets a lot of the people who currently visit Tower City.
