Columbus: Downtown: Arena District Developments and News
Wheelingman replied to CMH_Downtown's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAll of the Pittsburgh politicians loved the Arena District and they want something like that in Pittsburgh. I think the odds of getting this arena are pretty high.

Why doesn't Columbus's southside grow as fast as the northside?

Why doesn't Columbus's southside grow as fast as the northside?
I thought I might have heard it was because of lack of utilities like waterlines etc, but I am not sure. Indianapolis is almost equally developed on all sides, but Columbus has a much larger northside than southside. One can drive about 7 miles south and be in a rural area whereas it is the total opposite on the northside. The southside is also growing at a much slower rate as noted above. Will growth begin to pick up on the southside once most of Franklin County is develped? Again, if anyone could shed some light on this situation I would like to hear what you have to say. :-)

What is Dayton's poverty rate?
Cool maps. Thanks for the link to that awesome website Jeff. I never knew it existed. I think everyone should know about that website. It has the best maps I have ever seen relating to population and poverty. You should start a thread on SSP about those maps. :-)

Columbus: General Business & Economic News
Growth hits brakes in 7-county region Employment figures reflected in decrease in population gain Sunday, January 08, 2006 Debbie Gebolys THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH Central Ohio’s growth spurt is showing signs of sputtering. Population estimates from the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission for the new year show that the seven-county region will continue to add residents. But trends point to a slowdown, said MORPC data manager Nancy Reger. "There’s only so long that a growth spurt can continue when you don’t have the weather or the mountains or the ocean," Reger said. "I assume we’re beyond the cusp. . . . The curve is flatter now than it was before 2000." Read more at http://www.dispatch.com/news-story.php?story=dispatch/2006/01/08/20060108-B1-01.html

Which Ohio Mid-size city has the best economy?
Dayton has a pretty high poverty rate, but is poverty mostly concentrated on the west side of Dayton or does it include other areas of the city?

Is Cincinnati gentrifying or decaying?
Has downtown Cincinnati become part of the downtown living trend/condo/apartment boom that is sweeping cities across the country?

Is Cincinnati gentrifying or decaying?
I was wondering what the economy of Cincinnati is like? It seems like a lot of the growth is in the suburbs, but how much growth is going on in the city? I want the central city to do well. Is the city improving or gentrifying (neighborhood-wise) or decaying (becoming rundown)?
