  1. That has always been one of my favorite observation decks. The open air rules!!! Cincinnati is great. :-)
  2. That place looks familiar doesn't it.
  3. I am so happy for you guys and you are a blue County now!! Really cool.
  4. The GR is hopping. I could have gone there many times but it was just out of the way from where I was going or leaving from.

I would agree with that. Most Ohio cities and Pittsburgh alone have better architecture and are much smaller. Kind of sad. Still a great city, but that aspect really bothers me.
  6. So I could see the rough parts of the city and kind of compare how they are to other cities. Plus I used to read the Columbus Dispatch in print Sundays and on the internet weekdays when I was a lot younger. It seemed like that the area had lots of crime and homicides there compared to the rest of the city. To truely know a city you have to see the good and bad and measure that. Just as with Chicago I had to see the Southside and what all the hype was about and E. St. Louis, IL, Detroit, Camden, Gary, Chester, PA, eastside of Cleveland, etc. Now I don't care as much because I have seen the worst, and Columbus or Cleveland is nowhere close to the worst. Maybe I will do it again, especially if a friend wants tour, or my girlfriend(not likely), but I don't need to anymore for myself at this point in time. I have to admit though that urban ruins are neat especially in the cities mentioned above that I have seen in person. I really like Columbus. :-) It was one of the only major cities I had ever been to when I was a kid other than Pittsburgh. I could have gone to Ohio State, but that didn't happen. :x Everyone said the best way to get a job in geography was teaching. There was a great teaching school right by me (West Liberty University). Maybe someday to get a Masters in Geography or Urban Planning from there. I always said I could live in Columbus, but it comes down to jobs and my girlfriend. One of the main flaws Columbus has had forever was the downtown area as we all know. Finally it is improving at a faster clip. Indianapolis has the downtown, but Columbus has better neighborhoods, better architecture, more density and character. All it needs to do is increase the vibrancy downtown, build on all of those parking lots, add lots of residents, keep improving the parks and waterfront, get light rail or streetcars etc. You know what I mean. 8-) See you later City Center. It would be so much more complete with that in order. It still wouldn't be perfect, but what city is. Mayor Coleman has done a really good job. He is all about urban issues.
  7. Does anyone know how many murders Cleveland has had up until now? I know they had 79 as of Oct 5TH.
  8. ^ You guys are right. Wheeling is no college town. Our colleges are too small and spread out across the area. Athens is defiantely a ture college town.
  9. Nice shots of an area I have been to many times.

Looks nice. I always drive past it and never stop, though it's probably because it's too small.
  11. That guy is a goof. That is so ignorant to just say that New Yorkers are not friendly. Maybe you are the one that isn't friendly or ever gets out. I have never had a problem there. My friend lived there for 5yrs and loved it. I stayed with him many times. The only reason he left was to go back to college again. He is moving back up soon. People are just drawn to NYC and to say other cities including Pittsburgh (my local city that I love) have better museums is degrading considering the city has some of the best in the world, but I am not going to just arbitrarily say who has the best.
  12. Looks like one of the very best small towns in Ohio. It is nearly perfect and well kept.

What a "true city" Great density and architecture, etc. The Cincy area has so much to offer and the topography is great.

OSU has one the best campuses and academic programs in the country. It offers so much.

Looks bad now, but it has the bones to be a great/vibrant neighborhood in the future.
  16. Great photos there. It's sad that even the nice neighborhoods in Youngstown are declining.
  17. I cannot believe how high QCS is.

It won't get any better until the crime and gang problem is eased and erased eventually. This part of Cleveland probably will never come back in my lifetime. I just hope the city doesn't turn into the next Detroit. A city council women said in the Plain Dealer that we have 15 yrs to get on track or we will be the next Detroit. I really hope that doesn't happen, because Cleveland is a true city with so much.
  19. I just hate the height limit. I cannot imagine how many towers DC would have if they didn't have that. I cannot stand big cities without large skylines. DC is great, but the lack of towers make me knock it a few notches down from my favorite cities. That's the way I have always felt. Without a skyline, the city feels so small. They could have had a district full of towers away from the monuments like Paris has with La Defense.

    Nice!

It's more revitalized now than I thought. Cool.
  22. Chicago is one of the most photographable city in the US and world. Density, architecture, the lake and the large/tall skyscrapers make it perfect. Lots of old and new towers as well. Just about perfect.
  23. Great shots!! I just hope that area doesn't turn into the next Gary.
  24. I toured it when I was in St. louis because I knew it was bad, but it is just amazing a booming city like that can just be abandoned in a few decades. It's neat yet depressing to see America's underbelly, and how bad things can get regarding race, govenment, corruption etc. Everyone in America should see this kind of crap so they understand how bad this country can be and what we can do to stop this insanity. A problem cannot be fixed if it isn't even acknowledged!!!. The state of Illinois has done nothing for this city. Illinois politics is beyond the pale. I have read the trib and sun-times for years and I just gave up on Illinois politics. It seems like they are all corrupt or if they aren't they will be nothing.
  25. Thanks for posting that shot. Unbelieveable!! Best skyline in the world, IMO.
