Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
If the decision is based on money then the selection is 45 Erieview. It's only by scoring committe evaluation that makes Ameritrust in the lead.

Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
After watching the entire video of CBRE presentation on the County website 3 comments; 1. CBRE recommends spending an additional 20 million more over 20 years from the lower cost proposal (slide at 1:26:30), maybe the county could live with another tenant in the building and save the taxpayer 20 million. http://council.cuyahogacounty.us/en-US/CCWHL-010213.aspx 2. I did not see where CBRE factored in "the County will also be obligated to pay 50% of the annual ground rent payable under an underlying ground lease as ascertained and fixed pursuant to and in accordance with the arbitrators’ decision in that certain lawsuit styled Timothy F. Hagan, et al. v. Cleveland Times Square Holdings at Six Points LLC, et al," which is in the resolution. How much is this? Plus when the county owns the building in year 26 they still pay ground rent, how was this factored in? 3. Why was the Erieview garage only viewed as a quick turn around sale - should CBRE not have presented some analysis of keeping it as an operational garage for twenty years?

Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
According to Cuyahoga County Board Meeting Agendas, there have been many Executive Sessions - but little detail to the taxpayers. "It's kind of a hallmark of the corruption scandal that things were done in a secretive way, and sunshine is the best disinfectant for it", FitzGerald March 2011. I'm waiting for the sunshine.

Cuyahoga County: County Government Reform News & Discussion
I just found the cuyahoga county charter transition meetings on you tube http://www.youtube.com/user/cuyahogacounty#g/a scroll down to lower left corner and click on County Charter Transition Playlist Not the most exciting, but I did learn that the new council shall decide and approve the number of staff they feel they need. The example given on the video I watched stated that if they determine they each need five staff and they themselves approve it - 55 new county employee positions are created. I am sure there are other nuggets of information on these videos that can help us ask our candidates the right questions in deciding who we will vote for.

Seems more appropriate here. One item to add At the July 20 meeting, the County asks developers to include space for moving the County Information Services Center. Then on July 30 at the Commissioner Board Meeting the County approves a new 10 year lease for the Information Services Center at its current location (Sterling Building), with no termination until 2013 (even then with penalty).

Cuyahoga County official says talks for one medical mart parcel have stalled by Joe Guillen Monday July 20, 2009 CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga County commissioners are again shopping for new offices, this time because negotiations to buy land for a downtown medical mart have stalled. Barb Shergalis, the county's medical mart project director, said Monday that the county intends to tear down its administration building to make way for the medical mart if an agreement with one of the private property owners isn't reached next month... Cuyahoga County: Corruption Probe
http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/ "Kelley took $15,000 in bribes as school board president, prosecutors say Posted by John Caniglia, The Plain Dealer June 12, 2009 13:57PM Categories: Breaking News, County in Crisis, Cuyahoga County government, Education, FBI raids Cuyahoga County, Real Time News CLEVELAND — J. Kevin Kelley used his power as president of the Parma School Board to steer a $1.8 million renovation contract to a business that paid $15,000 in kickbacks to Kelley and two friends, according to federal charges filed Friday. Prosecutors did not name the company, calling it only "Business 9" in bribery charges against Kelley, Kevin Payne and Daniel Gallagher. The charges said the company won a contract in the summer of 2005 as the manager for a construction renovation project. " A quick search reveals that RP Carbone was Construction Manager in 2006 during construction at Parma http://www.rpcarbone.com/Projects/0511.htm Business 9??

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Has anyone been following recovery.ohio.gov/more wishlist (current submission list). Could almost be it's own topic thread - a lot of big idea projects. City of Cleveland has requested 20 million just for the medical mart/convention center project. "This funding will allow for the construction of the proposed Medical Mart and new Convention Center in downtown Cleveland. A new Convention Center paired with the Medical Mart has the potential to create jobs, invigorate convention business, capitalize on Cleveland's successful health care industry and position the City for future growth." According to their submission it will create 950 jobs.

text from 2009 county budget Once the sale is finalized the County will reimburse itself for most of the funds expended on purchase and related costs of asbestos removal and design. Additional outlays of approximately $10 million over the sale price of $35 million incurred for asbestos mitigation and related contractual obligations will be absorbed by the County. It is expected these expenses will be included in the planned bond anticipation note issue in December of 2008.

KJP asked I bring this post over from a different forum subject. The Medical Mart is another project that has been in planning a long time. In 1981 the City of Cleveland was to purchase, for 2.25 mil, what is now MK Ferguson Plaza and turn it over to Forest City to develop a Medical Mart.. Forest city had just purchased Union Terminal property in 1980 for 8.5 mil. The Federal Government added 3.2 mil for road/bridge repair in 1982. This was to help overcome the dispute resulting from the City of Cleveland Ordinance of 1919 which laid out a framework of who was responsible for the maintenance of the roads/bridges and utilities that are over the Terminal Tower complex. The book, Cleveland’s Towering Treasure, A Landmark Turns 75, has a site plan with the medical mart labeled in what is now MK Ferguson Plaza. Forest City was unable to lease the property and that part of the Tower City Development ended in 1984.

Yes - lets keep talking and holding forums and hiring consultants Go back and read the history before attending the forum and see if anything really new is coming to light. http://www.cleveland.com/convention/index.ssf?/convention/more/archive.html Back in 2000, Commissioner Dimora recommended the land west of Browns Stadium He's still a Commissioner and that site is back on the table How much has been spent on "Consultants" through this 8 year process?

Talking about dollars; Does the city still need to pay Raymond Park if a new convention center is built? Or was this adressed in the IX land swap with Brook Park and NASA Lewis? http://www.clevescene.com/2006-04-05/news/the-sweetest-deal/full quote from article "For example, if a new center is built in 2009, Cleveland will be forced to pay Park $14 million. Two years later, the price falls to $9 million."
