  1. ^ regarding bike rental, i would strongly recommend the ohio city bike co-op. their website is really informative, and here is a link to the rental section: http://www.ohiocitycycles.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15-rentals&Itemid=34 the OCBC is housed in a cool warehouse-esque building in an interesting part of the flats west bank right next to the river, and only a 5-10 minute walk from the west side market. after the bikes, the location is the second coolest thing about it.
  2. on a number of occasions i've found myself unable to resist the temptation to explore the coast guard station in more depth. i've been up to the second floor and even climbed the stairs up to the top of the tower for amazing downtown and shoreline views. although it's sad to see, part of the attraction of the place definitely lies in it's lamentable state of repair. additionally, while i've never felt entirely safe walking around inside the building, i think that's also part of why it's such an exhilarating urban exploration spot. here's to hoping it's saved!
  3. how about #1 Pho for lunch? DELICOUS vietnamese food in a really cool, casual space. a gem of cleveland's growing (?) "asiatown".
  4. ^I'd like to second the suggestion that you couple a walk/ride through cultural gardens with a visit to the art museum. The combination of MLK drive, East Blvd and the cultural gardens is a really lovely strip of green that Cleveland is lucky to have preserved. And if you end up renting a bike, there is a bike trail that goes all the way along MLK from University Circle to the Shoreway. Unfortunately the lake access there is limited, but it's still a pleasant ride.
  5. I agree that both are nice-looking parks, and the romanesque arch motif is an elegant touch. However, isn't it a bit much for two ballparks--employing the same, highly-memorable motif--to open up in the same city in the same year? Maybe one team or the other would've been better off choosing a design from a different firm? :|
  6. Hi, I'm new to the forum, but would like to chime in here. I'm currently living in Spain, but ought to be back in Cleveland around the end of July. If you all organize some kind of weekly/monthly UO bike gettogether, I'll be sure to participate once I'm back in town. As for a schedule, I ought to be pretty flexible; weekend or evening would be great. I hope this materializes, I love group rides!
