Cleveland: League Park
Any project like this, particualrly if partially funded by private or even MLB dollars, is a good thing for that neighborhood. Could spark a further housing renewal at least in the surrounding blocks.

Gas Prices
What are you asking your fellow citizens to do? Move out of Avon, sell the SUV, and take RTA? What steps need to be taken? Can you live in Avon if you drive to the Triskett rapid station or Westlake Park N Ride? What if your SUV is a Hybrid and gets 30+ MPG?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Did not see it on this thread, does anyone have a picture of the building that was on that site 20 years ago?

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
KJP - That would be nice, though I am sceptical. I can't stand the Made in China stickers on everything these days.

Cleveland: Public Square Redesign
Drivers in Cleveland can't seem to handle traffic circles. (See W 14th/Quigley). I'd vote for just closing the intersections. Perhaps the streets (East Roadway/Frankfurt/Rockwell) would be a little narrow...

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I don't think it can be "by request only". I assume the passenger may need to get back on the bus later...

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
We We already have one Silver Chisel downtown (on East 9th). Do we need another?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I read an article in early 2005 that they were two months from picking a site for the convention center. What did they decide? ;)

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
People do not shop at "big box" stores becasue they are stupid, though I am sure you believe that to be true. As has been pointed out in this thread, having these stores on the edge of Cleveland is NOT a bad thing. It's where the majority of this country shop, whether we like it or not. Cleveland is smart to allow these stores. Now if they were only smart with the downtown area...

I would guess broken window glass is a little disconcerting to those that park there everyday.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
The quote on the cards being handed out, as stated above, says: "The RTA HealthLine has already attracted over 33 new businesses and is generating $4.3 billion in new investment." Seems to be taking credit for quite a lot of development that would occur with or without the fancy new busses. That's all I am saying. Mis-information does not help RTA's cause. If it is 1 billion in investment being generated as a result of the project, that is what they should state and not inflate the numbers to make it look even better.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
the updated content was a bit late arriving from our contractor, but it has been placed out there now... go explore... Thanks, nice website! I do see that part of the $4.3 billion in development includes Cleveland Clinic, University Hospital, and Case Western expansions. Was the Health Line the catalyst for those projects? Haven't all 3 been expanding for years?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Are you suggesting county commissioners should not come from the suburbs? Aren't they a part of this county? Should all county funds be spent inside Cleveland?

The card also says "Learn more at RTAHealthLine.com", but that site only says "Coming Soon".

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
RTA is using City Year volunteers today to hand out cards downtown touting the Euclid Corridor project. I don't have a scanner handy, but here's what the card says: Heading: "Signs of life are popping up everyday on Euclid Avenue (and now in your backyard.)" " The RTA HealthLine has already attracted over 33 new businesses and is generating $4.3 billion in new investment. Add to that the 1,500 new trees sprouting and it's clear: The rebirth of Cleveland is happening." It goes on to explain how to plant these cards (printed on seed paper), but I am not sure what will grow (flower? tree?). A feel good message, for sure. However, there was no indication on how the $4.3 billion # was arrived at. And what does "over 33 mean"? 34?

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I am glad to see it may be moving forward. I used that stop regularly in 2000-2001 and RTA discussed something back then too and it never happened.

The escalator at Puritas/150th was not working much of the time I used to use that stop. Hopefully they rebuild that station some day. It used to have triple the cars parked there each day. Perhaps the park-and-ride busses (263/251) took the passengers, but I am sure the condition of the station (except for the new platform) has not helped ridership. It's a prime spot to gather southwest-siders, especially after the Innerbelt project gets underway.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I drove Euclid from Downtown to East 222nd today (slow ride out to Painesville). The completed sections really look nice. I really hope it gets fully developed, particularly in midtown. A few observations: 1. I liked the 25 MPH limit. My Hybrid was in electric mode most of the way down to East Cleveland. 2. Delivery guys (FedEx, Beverage, and a cab today) were all parked in the bike lane, which of course is only 3 feet wide. That causes cars to have to drift into the bus lane to get by. Dangerous situation if these delivery guys don't get the message that that is not a parking zone. 3. I thought the bus stops were going to include fare collection boxes to speed loading? None of the stops I saw seem to have been designed for that.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Feagler has some good points, including about Euclid Corridor. No matter how we may want it to change the culture in Cleveland, what we are getting is basically a prettier Route 6. Unfortunately, I am not sure that will amount to much more then a 20% increase in ridership on one route. (and some of that perhaps at the expense of the Red Line.) Even at $4 a gallon, Cleveland appears to be far from being a public transportation-kind of town like some other cities. We must like our cars.

Westlake: Crocker Park
I think the place closed simply because it was not all that great. I would have picked Brendan O'Neills over that place any day. Too bad O'Neills got forced out of their lease across the street.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Does anyone know if RTA has published backup for those ads? I think it is important they do that, and I really hope to see the list and be completely impressed/blown away. If they have things like the Colonial Arcade, Old Arcade, or East 4th street, I would wonder how much on this list is really as a result of the new line. My favorite addition to Euclid Avenue: Jimmy John's. Thank goodness they have survived the prolonged/permanent orange barrrels at their front door. Best subs in town! (Try an Unwich!)

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Primarily, I'm looking for backup to the RTA commercials being run that claim billions of dollars in development as a result of this new bus route. The new road will no doubt bring development, but it will not bring a new mass-transit centered society that many, including myself, would like to see. In reading several years worth of this thread, I can certainly appreciate what this project can do for midtown and downtown. I can also see that RTA's power in the design and building of this project, while not great for the area, was necessary as they had large federal dollars not otherwise on the table. I look forward to tracking some comments by some very well-informed posters on this board about area projects, many of which I supported fully. I'm also thankful that not all posters are as judgemental as MTS (and, sadly, now I have judged him).

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
This is a great board that I only just discovered. Forgive me if after a couple hours of reading, I still do not see the value in the new busses. No doubt service may be improved, though, and the street will look better...but much like Gateway, the Waterfront Line, etc, will this project produce even remotely close to projections? I hope so.

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
I was hoping for a summary of why middle-of-the-road bus stops spur development. Didn't have time to read 50 pages. I ride RTA everyday and support it, but they are only a small part of revitalizing any area, not a catalyst. I'll read up on this post soon. htsguy - If I didn't care, I would not have asked.
