Cincinnati: John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge
Oh, okay. My mistake. I could have sworn that painting was part of it last time.

Oh yes! I can't wait. And all those jobs! The dawn of a new day!

Did they not just repaint the building, less than two years ago? Why again?

Yeah, they really needed to tear down the last remaining building in that area. Give me a break.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Next to the corner of Clifton and Ludlow, facing Hosea, you will now find two "No on 9" yard signs prominently placed on the 3rd floor balcony of the Herford Building. Heavy lunch and dinner crowds heading from Dewey's Pizza and Skyline Chili will undoubtedly see it. I was in the bank today, and I overhead a teller comment on the signs I recently picked up: "I don't want my money going to jobs" or something like that. Even though it felt strange to have a conversation about politics or ballot issues in the bank, I told assured him that his money would absolutely not be involved with Issue 9 in any way. I said that although there are a few issues on the ballot that *do* call for small tax increases (or renewals), Issue 9 will not. He flat out said that he probably wouldn't have looked into it. So, I told him that he could view all the ballot issues on the Board of Elections site, where he then asked me to direct him. One of the most important things to tell people, about this issue and any other issues, is to have them look into what they're about before they vote with the false impression they've carried with them all the while. No matter what issues you're for or against, tell everyone you know where they can find a listing of all this year's ballot issues in the State of Ohio. I really think that is even more urgent than trying to sell people are particular issues. At least then there's a greater chance that their votes will reflect their views instead of their instincts.

Cincinnati: Urban Gardens & Farms
The reason I ask is that the city approved a pilot project for urban gardening this spring. There must be some difference between the plots that are a part of the pilot program and ones that have been maintained by the CGC for years.

Does anyone know the difference between the projects working on the city pilot sites and the neighborhood gardens that are not part of the program?

Cincinnati's Climate Protection Action Plan
Anyone know if the City of Cincinnati permits or bans clotheslines. I tried to search the municode and, although this appeared: I haven't found anything for non-park, private property. Currently, a green response to the stringent clothesline bans across the county has been gaining some steam. http://www.care2.com/causes/environment/blog/join-the-fight-to-legalize-clotheslines/

While we're at it, let's get a submarine shop on Ludlow. I'm not really into the hookah idea on Ludlow. I wouldn't agree that it'd fit in my neighborhood at all.

I'm so tired of hearing about Portland's transportation system. We need to figure out what's best for Cincinnati and the Midwest.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Absolutely. However, I know that retail neighbors try not to cross over on items that other stores are carrying. So, since Park + Vine carries outdoor composting units, perhaps OUTSIDE will never carry them, even though it would fit their store focus. Park + Vine *does* carry a lot of green items, so perhaps other businesses could build off that. Actually, I stopped by OUTSIDE last night. They have greenPOTS from EcoSource, which are eco-friendly planters made from rice hulls. I was told that they can order anything from that distributor, so I might be interested in another EcoSource item from them--particularly the coir line of large-scale planters made from coconut. Their 30.5” X 10” X 9” window box planter would be perfect for the balcony in the warmer months and the window sill in the colder months. Although I didn't see very much that at OUTSIDE that fit my lifestyle or living situation (e.g., can't really make use of a bird feeder or grill items), I'm glad that they had the EcoSource products. If they tapped into more green distributors, I most certainly would stop by more often. The key to Park + Vine's success is that they found their demographic and catered to them extremely well. I'd be curious to see what OUTSIDE's target demo is.
