  1. How can building owners like that be held accountable? They indubitably discourage positive investment and augmentation of the new downtown experience. That building *should* receive the necessary improvements, and horrible owners should not be allowed to keep prime locations from thriving.
  2. ^I visited just a couple months after he opened, so I look forward to finding something upon my visit. Michael, have those grills already been ordered? If so, it seems that the outlook for his store is even more grim. And if not yet, will you do it before the end of the year, so his store survives?
  3. Put it this way: if there's an alternative, I go for it. Currently, there aren't alternatives to the keyboard that's built into my laptop. So I'm not going to buy plastic cutlery, plastic plates, plastic picnic kits--because alternatives are absolutely available.
  4. Being a renter in an apartment in Clifton, Outside does not offer many items that I can use. As I stated in another thread, much of what I saw during a spring visit to the store was plastic items. Personally I have banished most usage of plastic in my life, so it's difficult to patronage his business. I will stop by this week to see if I find anything new that fits some long-term plans for balcony planters.
  5. Well, there really aren't great retail neighbors near Outside, so it's difficult to draw people to the mid-block. For me, personally, I'm anti-plastic for the most part; I try to limit its role in my life. Most of what Outside sells are plastic items. So they're not likely to find a customer in me.
  6. I haven't been by there yet. So it was co-signed, not changed completely?
  7. Huh. Actually, there's a 28th Avenue in Oakley too, but they it goes Millsbrae Ave, Eileen Dr, and then 31st Ave. Still north to south though.
  8. ^What's weird is that 31st to 34th are avenues, not streets, and they run north to south. Makes so sense.
  9. I'd agree with all those points. If they choose to raise the full fare to $2 per ride, it could be a death knell. Bus transit in Chicago is $2, but it's reasonable because it's supplemented by rail in many ways. In such a large city, it makes sense to pay the price to get closer to your destination.
  10. I certainly did not say that. But transit authorities aren't getting the *necessary* money to maintain adequate service.
  11. Noticed that SORTA isn't on that list.
  12. ^Absolutely. For an example of what happened when most older structures were replaced with newer high rises, look at Columbus.
  13. Over half a million for a transit hub, $12 million in budget shortfalls. Awesome.
  14. Blue Line replied to a post in a topic in Sports Talk
Why didn't UncleRando clean his own posts, just as non-moderator members ended up doing? Just saying.
  15. And, of course, I challenge someone to fill in the gaps between 15th Street in OTR and 63rd Street in Elmwood Place.
  16. I have thought the same about Buick. At least stop selling Buick here in the states. I very rarely even see Buicks made in the last few years.
  17. From what I gather, Bear Creek Capital was a bit corrupt even prior to this. The NuTone site in Madisonville was supposed to be their job too, but of course they spewed out a horrible design and couldn't even follow through with the job.
  18. Did you have to post this in a thread? Or could you have PM'd me to ask this...as far as Urban Ohio goes this and the banks thread is my only concern. I follow many other forums as they discuss constructing towers. As Cygnus stated this is an exciting thing for Cincinnati, and I'm excited to watch it going up everyday and "every step" is exciting to me. I use to work in construction when I was a teen and I loved every minute of it, until I went to college... but if I want I can post every second of the day if need be...none of this concerns you however. You needn't be offended. I'm genuinely curious, since I saw you begin posting about the project. Or was. Makes sense though that you have posted in other forums about different construction projects. My curiosity doesn't seem to be very welcome though.
  19. Since Ohio does not a bottle deposit program, I'm wondering if it would be possible for Cincinnati to establish such a thing within city limits. I'm waiting for a reply back from a council member in another charter city. It seems that he proposal three different "green bills" in 2008--I'm not sure what the outcome of them were. One was to create a "bottle bill" and another was to place a ban on plastic grocery bags within the city. Of course we've seen the latter happen in places in San Francisco. Then again, bottle deposit programs are almost always run at the state level.
  20. I'm curious to know if this is possible.
  21. I want to learn more about Dirty Sandpit. Did you register on the forums just to follow QCSII, every step and substep of the way? I'm a bit mesmerized.
  22. I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned at all, here or in general, leading up to the election. Issue 6 in Hamilton County
  23. ^Please don't start to condescend. Now we're (somewhat) even, especially since you thought I was from Wisconsin and discounted my every word. :-P
  24. I think you're being melodramatic, and you should learn to both not take constructive criticism so personally and not carry that over to other threads. I mean, come on, it was in one thread that you ran into some strife about class issues. You've carried that over to at least two other topics *and* blogged about it.
