  1. I don't see why you correlate opposition to the relocation of low-income residents with not being progressive. In fact, low-income dwellers are almost *always* relocated for high ROI opportunities. I'd love to see an infographic on the relocation of the poor in Cincinnati and other cities. Resources should be pooled to provide better living conditions for low-income residents and ensure better management of such facilities.
  2. Atomic Number 10 opened yesterday for Final Friday, I believe.
  3. So I've been trying to sell my 2 tickets for two days now. I guess people aren't biting because it's going to rain. I hope people actually show up for the game. Otherwise, it'll say something about our fanbase.
  4. Saw The Young Republic last night at the Blue Wisp. Very, very good. Wanted to see Mock Orange at Inner Peace, but they canceled. Here's my itinerary. 5. I like the idea of the hotel at the Metropole location because it's a strong node of undeniable activity. BUT... I'm not comfortable with the argument that we need this hotel because the poor are creating uncomfortable situations for those who have more money to spend. I also agree with the sentiments that there are plenty of EMPTY lots throughout downtown (ahem, 5th-Race-6th) that would benefit from a 12c Hotel. What I'm hearing is that the Metropole's conversion to a boutique hotel is MUST, in order to complete that area of downtown as a destination. This is not our only opportunity. Other areas of downtown are crying for reinvestment. The city's economic development department should be working with the Louisville company to seek out incentives for other sites in the neighborhood.
  6. Looks like I accidentally bought FOUR tickets to the game, instead of TWO. I've got Section 205 Row 20 Seats 8-9 for $22 each or $44 for the pair. Takers?
  7. Very true...i would agree, but only if the building hadn't been gutted already for HUD. From my understanding there is really nothing worth keeping in there that is "original". The outside is deceiving Oh, okay. I wasn't aware that it was initially gutted as well.
  8. This is nostalgia at its absolute worst. Should excommunicate this topic to the Urbanbar.
  9. Wow, they're on the case. Like bedbugs or fleas. Pests.
  10. Ah, didn't know this thread was around.
  11. Wasn't the agreement for a covered practice field, or does this also come with a cover for cold times of year?
  12. My old place on Bishop had a TIF abatement. I believe it would apply to rental properties converted from SF homes. But I'm not sure about the application or process.
  13. edale> Yeah, I'd agree with you there. Nice tile work though. sheady> From the looks of the site, seems they'd gut the whole building. I'm not okay with that.
  14. I've always gotten a kick out of casino revenue going to gambling addiction programs.
  15. It's an eyesore? How? I'd say that the exterior is a good shape.
  16. No, its for Sec. 121 Row 21 Seat 7 or 8. The reason I have an extra for is because the person that was supposed to go with me pulled out. I'm not selling. If you wanna go you can just have it. Thanks anyway. My girlfriend's coming too, so I needed to get a pair.
  17. Section 205 Row 20 Seats 8-9. $44 total. Awesome promotion. I was waiting to hear about about a co-op. Meanwhile, student and student guest tickets sold out. Glad I was about to score these. The system tried to cram me over in the corner of the endzone in 127, facing 131 of the Bearcat Lair. I just put 8 tickets in the cart until the 205 tickets came up. I'd rather be in the upper level near the 50 yard line. Absolutely.
  18. I tweeted Qualls about it, strongly questioning the city's role in unnecessary demolition. Wonder if that helped any.
  19. The Metropole used to be a hotel. Funny how the Enquirer failed to mention that.
  20. Currently it takes only 15 minutes via the Rt. 81X Metro bus from 4th and Sycamore to Delta and Stanley, which is only a couple miles from Lunken via Eastern. It take 10-12 minutes for the standard service Rt. 1 Metro bus to go from 4th and Walnut to Union Terminal. I'd say that it's a pretty reasonable alternative, adding an express stop and an over-length bus, which I hear Metro already has at its Queensgate garage.
  21. Lunken is the most ideal in terms of accessibility. Can you imagine getting into a ridiculous traffic jam on I-75, trying to get on a train? I'll take Eastern Avenue to my train. Certainly. I believe it would be closest to Wilmer and Beechmont Circle, but I could be wrong.
  22. Is it a student guest ticket, by chance?
  23. ^Excellent post, LIG. Cincinnati tends to look at itself and its challenges in a bubble, not realizing the great lengths that other cities go to create efficiency. The only thing I'd point out is that you used all world cities or cities greater than 3 million. Cincinnati isn't really in that realm, but perhaps you're using it to point out the great advantages we have, and opportunities to create a world class city.
  24. That's the major reason why I didn't support the ballot issue petitioning, this summer. I'm not sure how I'll vote on it, but I was quite annoyed that the selling point is how it'll create *so many jobs*. You're right. That's absolutely *not* the reason why it's being pushed by the higher-ups.
