Cincinnati Park System
Caught the last 15 minutes of it. Pretty good. Would have been better if Robin Wood hadn't voiced the show with her lifeless tone though.

Could simply be your camera exposure, based on the amount of sunlight absorbed from your individual shots.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Is it not enough that Cincinnati will be a hub for connection to Indy as well? We are fighting to remain in the running for a stop on the 3-C at all, in order to remain regionally competitive. If cities like Columbus, Indy, and others manage to get stations in the heart of the city--meanwhile ours is at least 30 minutes away by car--once again we will have lost our chance to remain equally competitive with our neighbors. At present, we certainly aren't up on Indy or Cleveland.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Why is no one discussing the amount of investment that *would* occur in Queensgate with the announcement of higher volume rail returning to CUT? I keep hearing that it's a lost cause, because the neighborhood has been replaced by parking lots and low-density structures, but look at all the infill opportunities. Industry should remain in Queensgate and the West End, but it's also where green industry should be aggressively sought.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I thought the same thing. It probably cycled through five or six times before I even finished reading a paragraph.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Because there's only one train for every two days, obviously. The waiting room is jam packed when people *are* waiting for the *single* train. Multiply that by three or four.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
People are talking about shuttles. In the Lunken case, an adjusted Rt. 28X bus would serve it just fine. For CUT, we already have Rt. 1.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
My thought is that so much freight uses the CUT rail yards because other rail yards in the area were decommissioned or downsized. Thus, freight took over former layover points where the former concourse stood. It's a bit hard to take back rail for passenger use when it's already been used by freight companies for 40 years. I know that there was a rail yard under the Beechmont Viaduct, between Wilmer (with Lunken directly next to it) and Eastern. They tore out several tracks about 7 years ago.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
I don't think it would be smart for UC to shell out for a new stadium. Cincinnati fans are fairweather. Build for 50K capacity, and a bad season will look even worse.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
^Teams usually schedule non-conference opponents two or more years in advance. We're not playing weak, C-USA teams anymore. In the next two to three seasons, we'll be playing OSU and other stronger opponents. Our games against Fresno State at home, Pittsburgh away, and WVU at home will help our chances to reach a title game. I predict that Pittsburgh will be ranked in the next couple weeks. South Florida has at least gotten a couple votes for the Top 25, since the season started, and we're playing them away. Both Pitt and USF are undefeated. Though they're not ranked (yet), it helps that they're holding a strong record.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Essentially, I think we're agreeing on the same thing, with regards to Lower Price Hill. But that itself is a neighborhood that would benefit from infill green industrial and a domino effect into Queensgate. The multi-modal facility would be a positive catalyst. Now to get back on topic.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
^Nearest to Lower Price Hill or the West End, creating a new district on the periphery of existing neighborhoods. We would greatly benefit from a cluster of green industry. Price Hill and OTR are two city neighborhoods that already bear stronger green ethics.

Cincinnati: Downtown: National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
If they start putting things like this in the museum, then the space should commemorate civil rights fights around the world but tied to American lives--dropping the "National Underground Railroad" part of the moniker entirely. How would it disenfranchise African-Americans or anyone else if they re-purpose the museum to touch the lives of everyone.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
What about Neon's? Yup, that's what I'm talking about. It's key to retain the soul of a place such as a bar. Brand new bars just aren't the same.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
There's much more opportunity for something like that in Queensgate, a neighborhood that truly needs infill. I'd like to see the continued efforts prevail in OTR. New construction should complement the Italianate architecture, not compete with it.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
Oh, how I wish this City Hall Cafe still existed. There is virtually nothing around that area anymore. A few surface lots...

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Ohh, okay. I wasn't sure if it meant wrapping the exterior with a generic facing. Hmmm.

Fast track the Metro thread?
Important news regarding Metro today. I'd like to post it but I believe the thread is hidden.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
Yeah, I'd agree with Rockin' Robins. (I think they changed their name, by the way. Same bar though.) Madonna's might apply too.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
Aren't /weren't places like The Subway (gay bar, I know) and the old Phoenix Cafe these holes-in-the-wall of which we're speaking? I'd say they have a place downtown, just as they do in the city's other neighborhoods. The Righteous Room is a bit more high profile, but it's more "hole" and "Ritz". However, with all the reinvestment in Downtown, I don't see a quintessential hole in the wall opening up anytime soon. That basically requires minimal reinvestment in a property, thereby retaining its grit. Simply having exposed brick doesn't achieve that.

Cincinnati: Corryville: Vernon Manor Redevelopment
I will also mention that even a couple friends of mine must rely on Section 8 vouchers because of their disabilities. One lived in a group home at Ahrens and MLK. Know what happened to that entire block? Well, perhaps you'll stay in a room at the future Courtyard Inn above his former home. The closest and most accommodating location he could find was in Westwood. Not exactly ideal when his social and job services are located two bus transfers away, and his school is in Clifton. How is this related? Section 8 voucher holders are inexplicably misunderstood, seen as a scar on a neighborhood rather than a fellow resident with fair opportunity. Meanwhile, those who do commit crimes aren't necessary Section 8 recipients. Many can be homeless members of society, gang members, etc. I understand *why* there is a correlation between the Section 8 and crime, and I'm stating that is a broad misconception that leads to many inadequate problem solving techniques.
