Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and Preservation^Where did you get the Avondale Carbarn name from? I've never seen it referred to as such. Just curious.

Cincinnati: Demolition Watch
Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and Preservation@natininja: I was told by someone on the bus, about a year ago, that a co-op used to exist in Northside where Red Polly used to be. But it was plagued by poor management and closed by the early 90's. as I was told.

Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationYou're forgetting that an entire neighborhood anchors it on two sides, with parking available behind the building and along side. It has visibility along two major corridors, which would be important for any market/co-op space.

Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationI really could have seen the Car Barn as a market space + co-op arrangement. It still could be, if people fought the demolition, like they did for that old church at Taft and Gilbert...

Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and PreservationDemolition has begun, as of about 1pm today. It will take several days to level the whole site. This truly is sad.

Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and Preservation^^Seriously?! They're tearing that down to create a small building and a large parking lot? Aren't there enough places in the area to build a structure and parking of that scale?

Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Architecture, Environmental, and Preservation^^Yeah, I was going to go by the streetcar barn to take photos. But then I got sick. My heart sank when I saw the fence, last week. Why can't this been used for adaptive reuse? It's the only one like it remaining in the city.

Cincinnati: Corryville: University Village
We have the 2008 boundaries map on our website for Clifton Town Meeting. http://www.cliftoncommunity.org/Documents/cliftonmap.pdf

No.

Cincinnati: Corryville: University Village
Speaking from the perspective of Clifton Town Meeting, the University Edge development is not in Clifton. That's why it has been backed and supported by Corryville Community Council. Clifton's eastern boundaries split Ruther and Bishop Streets.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
^^I absolutely don't agree. Just because something is depicted in a vintage photo doesn't mean it's beautiful. It has hideous frontage.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I wouldn't compare it to McDonalds nor would I consider it nasty. My giant burger at the Banks location was quite amazing, and I have high standards for burgers.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Yes, I've been to the Johnny Rockets. While The Holy Grail was packed, Johnny Rockets was nearly empty. The problem isn't with the staff, as they were very friendly. There wasn't any music playing when I was in there though. They are close to getting more and larger televisions in the place, to back up its sports bar claim. Currently, it serves as an overflow restaurant, when The Holy Grail gets too busy. It struck me as odd that the Johnny Rockets location at Newport on the Levee is still open. That can't be good for business. I was under the impression that the Levee location would close.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
^^Someone has to maintain those escalators. I'm not saying that the steps aren't important to Cincinnati--and they could be even more important--but when was the last time you ran into someone on the steps? I think it's a terrible idea, unless you can convince me that certain city steps just have so much traffic that it would benefit from an escalator. And concerning the COAST tweet about brownouts in urban core neighborhoods, they've never vouched for the poor before. So, why now? The streetcar is just a glorified bus, right?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
That man's view of what The Banks' restaurants will do to the regional market is a first, from what I've heard. In fact, I hear most people having individual opinions about the restaurants down there. I really doubt that Toby Keith's I Love This Bar is going to put a bunch of locals out of business. Or the other Banks eateries, for the matter.

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
Additionally, I always remember the round trip I took from Cincinnati to Minneapolis for $20. I took a bus to Chicago and onward to Minneapolis, then back again the same way. Had I waited until the last minute, it wouldn't have been worth the trip. Many round trips I've taken only cost me $5-$20.

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
^^Well, megabus is always going to be the better option, if you don't wait until the last minute to buy your ticket. I've only paid more than $20 about two times out of the dozen or so trips I've planned.

Cincinnati City Council
Well, sure. As long as it's lighthearted fun, there's no problem at all. I just see stabs at politicians made daily--ones I like and ones I don't like--and they're relentless, regardless of what they've done or what they've said.
-
Cincinnati City Council
Here we go again. Every politician makes mistakes, but this wasn't even his mistake. I'm sure many of you will run with it anyway though.

Cincinnati City Council
The pocket veto vote, for one. No issues should be relegated to a dusty shelf. It doesn't matter if you don't agree with those issues. It's not democracy if you can choose WHAT is addressed, but HOW to address it.

Cincinnati Enquirer
Meanwhile, people like me will incur $5 charges against my paycheck for each missed paper complaint. Once the warehouse in Tobasco closes, I'll have to look for another job.

Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
Oh, believe me, Clifton Town Meeting wouldn't allow a gap in the grocery store need to go unfilled. The whole reason why we're seeing a replacement, following the closure of Keller's, is the steadfast efforts of Clifton residents and council board members.

Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
To be fair, the J Gumbos space down the street was in pieces up until about two weeks before opening. Sometimes it takes time for all the pieces to be ordered before installation.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Mercer Commons
What a sad state of affairs. See record of the fight to save this structure in this article from March 2011: http://overtherhine.wordpress.com/2011/03/07/the-fate-of-1314-vine-street-and-mercer-commons/

That commenter needs a punch in the face and then some. How lovely it would be for a tailgater to get his wish, while I have overindulgent tailgaters *in my actual backyard*.
