I don't think you want to raise that question with the Cincinnati Park Board.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
^As I said before, the listing as the most dangerous neighborhood didn't target OTR as a whole...yet the local media is treating it as such.

Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
See, I actually think the created public space on Telford is amazing, and it has the potential to be even more amazing. It's nice to see what great things they were able to do to complement the existing fabric. I just don't know if we need yet another public space, when we already the Telford space and the corner fountain area at Clifton. The Ludlow NBD is relatively short, and it would seem to be oversaturated.

Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
I'm a bit sick of these garbage projects. Do we *not* have enough public performance spaces in many of our neighborhoods? Why do we need them in *every* neighborhood? Money would be better spent on further remediation of the site and building an actual mixed use building there. This is an awful design to say the least.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
So...instead of complaining about the method they used to deduce this, why don't we actually question the relatively non-existent activity in the Northern Liberties? Virtually no development or attention has been placed north of Liberty. Seriously, everyone, north of Liberty is not the same neighborhood as the OTR we usually think about. Think about how people refer to all of the UC area as Clifton. It creates an *inaccurate* interpretation of several neighborhoods' reputations. I think that splitting such a large area into two smaller neighborhoods, as they naturally are, it would help to improve OTR's reputation and further promote investment. Furthermore, it would allow new light to be shone on a truly neglected area.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Apparently, the area of OTR west of Vine Street and north of Liberty Street is the #1 most dangerous neighborhood. I was skeptical too, but take a look at the statistics and the other neighborhoods that charted. #1 (OTR): Full list: http://www.walletpop.com/insurance/most-dangerous-neighborhoods I still think that OTR should NOT be consider such a large neighborhood. In reality, the neighborhood north of Liberty Street is a completely different animal, and is facing even sharper neglect than the fortunate areas south of Liberty. Also, we should to focusing more attention on areas of OTR west of Race. There are so many residential structures in alleys that surely have been abandoned for decades.

Beer You Go!: The Great Beer Thread
Grammer's should be praised for carrying so many Cincinnati recipes. I had a Burger, a Little Kings, and a Hudy Delight yesterday, after the OTR 5K. I call it the Cincinnati Sampler. $1 Burger at Grammer's, just so you know.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
That sounds like a suspicious comment. I don't understand what you'd find shady about the place. It's not like it attracted a bad crowd in the neighborhood. One of my good friend's uncles used to be a co-owner of the shop. Any time I walked in there with him, they were very personable.

^I don't see what the problem is. This is a locally-based company filling a void.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I'd beg to differ and say that Washington Park is our Washington Square Park (no regards to the similarities in name) and Burnet Woods should be regarded as our Central Park.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
Oh, and I noticed that the 12-pack says "12 Kings". That box also looks a little large for 12 of the regular-sized Little Kings. Are those larger bottles?

Looks a little too much like a grandmother's living room from that last picture. The rest of it looks decent though. But they have QUICHE! I've never been there, but I'll stop by for quiche.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Which would probably cost more than a billion dollars. I'm growing tired of the Sim City-type brainstorming or that this city continues to conjure.

Wonderful. That extended red block on the third floor is rubbing me the wrong way, but otherwise amazing.

Cincinnati: State of Downtown
I hate the change. The old PNC Bank sign at least harkened back to the color choice and character of the old Central Trust sign on it.

Blue Line replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentYeah, I have no idea what that place will do in the future. If popularity gets too crazy, they'll have to either open a second location or go for the reservation route.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
This is a huge opportunity for the use of Union Terminal in the future. Should we really be using stimulus money for the construction of a *new* terminal elsewhere in the city? Essentially, that money would go down the toilet within a decade, if later efforts would attempt to bring high-speed rail to Union Terminal. Shouldn't one of the worst bottlenecks in the country be *resolved* with stimulus money? If not now, when? I agree with one of the articles, saying that bypassing Union Terminal would be much to the detriment of the landmark and the city as a whole. Building a new terminal is a waste of money. At least with resolving the bottleneck and rebuilding a concourse at Union Terminal, we'd be using the money wisely and for the long-term. Extraneous costs: new terminal, new parking facilities, flood plain incorporation into the design...all for the cheapest short-term solution? Give me a break.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
So would it make sense to have a curb bump out on the curve from 12th to Elm (or Elm to 12th, I don't know which way it is bound in that sketch) to as to ensure that illegal parking on the inside of that curve doesn't become problematic?

Running / Jogging Thread
I really wanted to run the 10 miler, but the 5 mile run I did was the first time I had run over 3 miles. Believe me, I really considered it....crazy enough. Did you guys get t-shirts? I was wondering if they had any for such a race.
