  1. I wish you had more to say. ;)

While I was at the APA Conference in Minneapolis, I signed up for one of the mobile workshops. We ran through neighborhoods of Loring Park and and Kenwood, as well as through portions of downtown and the actual park and greenways. It was the first time I had ever run 5 miles before. It really felt good.
  3. I think the deadline for silver token redemption was March of last year.
  4. Didn't someone say that Burger Beer was going to debut on Opening Day? I haven't heard any word on that since the word. Anyone know?
  5. I'm surprised (well, not really) that there are 212 pages of mostly speculation about the Cincinnati streetcar yet the thing's not even under construction. No real news anymore, mostly fanboy rhetoric. I *am* with the Dean this time such that the *streetcar* should be using green and clean energy. We have all sorts of plans and initiatives in this city that should be integrated into many more new projects. To become a carbon neutral city, we need to do things like this to remain on track, pushing forward harder than we ever have in history. I think that applying for some subsidy for powering the streetcar with alternative energy would be a good thing.
  6. I'd say no city is better than a bowel movement of urban decay.
  7. I guess McMillan Street will have a sea of parking facing it instead of building frontages. Once again, developers here have NO CLUE how to provide adequate parking solutions that don't kill walkability elsewhere.
  8. Unless it's a themed development with staffers reenacting historical events...eh, I don't think so.
  9. I wish they would have done something like this MUCH closer to Downtown. There's no way I'd ever be able to get up to Mason on a bike or bus. They lost me as a customer before they ever had me.
  10. ^Yup, I happened to stop by earlier in the day, picking up a cupcake on my way to the bus stop. The open-house party will take place from 6pm to 10pm. It's recommend that attendees arrive earlier to ensure that they get their hands on some delicious grub.
  11. Where was this done anyway?
  12. !!!!! I'm excited. You're talking about regular Hudy 14K? And I've wanted to try Burger since I was young.

Yikes to the old bike lane visibility and widths. I definitely wouldn't have ridden across the viaduct on those things. I'm glad that they'll be wider too.

^Are you sure you're not just referring to wide shoulders? Were they actually marked before?
  15. Ahh. Well, my mistake then. I'm not quite sure what the solution is then.
  16. Well, I was playing devil's advocate, and arguing on their behalf. But really, I don't agree with it either, as I mentioned a page back. Parking across the street would definitely serve the school better. In fact, those 4 buildings would probably shield the schoolyard from some traffic and neighborhood noise. It is a bit within its own enclave.

Bike lanes AND sidewalks! I'd love to see the specs.
  18. ^And people thought the 3-hour plane delay last year was unorthodox. Sheesh. They better not delay me like that on my train from Cincy to NYC on Wednesday.
  19. Well, you see, I'm not writing it off because of a press release. I'm writing it off because of the facts we've all received, attempting to make my own assessment of these actions (or lack there of). I am and will be fighting for other goodness in Cincinnati. I'm not writing off anyone who *is* working for the streetcar initiative either; I'm taking myself out of the fight. Of course your efforts are commendable. I'm choosing to focus my optimism and my efforts on sustainable lifestyles and the future of recycling in this city. You seem like a quite the optimistic fellow, but I don't believe that optimism can be spread across several missions in earnest. One will always be compromised. Perhaps this is getting into more personal territory, but it is what it is. I want the city manager and other players to do *crucial* things that just aren't being done. My once fanboy status toward the project is simply just a toot of a much smaller horn anymore. Until those items I mentioned earlier are carefully considered, as many other cities have, my confidence in the project is gone.
  20. ^Tell that to the parents of children who would be attending the school. Parents usually have a greater concern for their own than the broader view we have.
  21. ^Oh, nice find. I wonder if it cuts costs any lower if a city supplies its own waste tires to recycle into sidewalk materials.

Yikes! And down goes VC. haha
  23. Some people just can't spend $30 to see the game, so they try to catch it on television at home or in a bar or restaurant.
  24. Any word on whether Hamilton made any headway on these rubber sidewalks?
