Cincinnati: Retail News
^Two things I'm happy about: (1) Bre from Crankbox got out of playing music with that band. They were absolutely awful. I'd never seen a vocalist use a headset mic instead of a mic stand before either. (2) A music store in Downtown is a *big* plus. Sometimes I do worry about the viability of business on Court St, but I do wish them the very best. Not sure about Saturday being lumped into "by appointment only" though. Some people just can't get downtown M-F before 6pm; people have jobs.

Ohio Smoking Ban
On the contrary, I see smoking as a weakness: succumbing to peer pressure in younger years, becoming a slave to it throughout adulthood, and even defending it like we were all born with cigarettes in our months. Your "when my pappy was younger" story has no weight. You know what they call that? Machismo.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Monzel is garbage. He won't be getting my vote (he never did anyway), and I'm do my darndest to see that my friends know why *not* to vote for him. Jesus Christ...based on that short list, why would anyone be for him? That first bullet really gets under my skin.

I honestly wouldn't blame the Hawaii game turf on Goodman's injury. That could have happen almost anywhere.

Ohio Smoking Ban
I'll tell ya. I hate going over to Kentucky to a bar or venue, where there's free reign to smoke. Usually I'll leave my coat in the car, even during the winter, so I don't smell like an ashtray from other people's smoke. When I was at the Mad Hatter last week, I had to leave the show early because I felt so queasy. So much smoke.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Blue Line replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentJust a heads up for anyone interested: New York New York Fresh Deli & Cafe, located on Beechmont Avenue in Mt. Washington, is now serving Empress Chili. It's shown across the front windows of the place as well as a permanent lighted sign on the side of the building, next to the parking lot. A good thing!

What do you get on your burrito?
I get the Mad Max at Habanero, which has tilapia on it. Only thing like it anywhere. Yum.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Blue Line replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentIn our area, in my honest opinion: 1. The Comet 2. Habanero 3. Currito 4. Qdoba 5. Chipotle 6. Burrito Joes I'm not saying that any of them are terrible or bad. It's just me judging them on irresistible taste. Uptown/Northside has it going on. Chipotle used to be great budget food. They recently raised their prices a bit, which puts it more in line with other places. Although, Habanero still has a great basic burrito for under $6.

Delaware County: Developments and News
Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionThat's a fair assessment. I do believe that something like rerouting the roadway should be considered.

Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI don't think we want all that polluting asphalt to end up in the river...

Hydrogen fuel
I didn't know that it was corrosive, but that's a good point. As far the energy requirement, that's why I feel that it isn't a viable widespread solution. Due to its explosive nature, I'm not very comfortable with what might happen in a vehicular accident either.
-
Hydrogen fuel
Well, that's exactly what I'm saying. Why go through three power sources (coal>electricity>hydrogen) when you can go through two? Plus, the process of just converting burned coal to electricity obviously requires water, but the result would be much cheaper.
-
Hydrogen fuel
However, where will the electricity come from? Likely coal burning power plants. Monetarily it may be cheaper, but the compound cost is far greater.

Delaware County: Developments and News
Blue Line replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^^I'm wondering how long the erosion has been occurring. If the road was built that close to the river in the first place, that's completely at the fault of ODOT for allowing this to happen.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Why would it need to go near UC if the streetcar would serve Downtown, OTR and Uptown? I think light-rail plans and studies should happen now, so that we can properly integrate streetcar service with future light rail configurations.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
^I absolutely agree with that. However, if we are going to emulate past techniques and styles, we should do it well. There's nothing worse than construction and architecture that resembles neighboring historic buildings in a disproportioned or shoddy manner. I would definitely like to see some modern architecture in OTR. But it should be LEED certified or better.

Speed camera tickets
You *should* keep track of who's driving your car! Unless you run a business, and you car is the company car.
-
Speed camera tickets
^I'm just discussing the issue as everyone else is. Really, these forums are for whining anyway. We all gain additional perspective when someone comes on and mentions something we haven't thought of. I expressed that an electronic tracking system of enforcement does not discriminate on how law-abiding someone is versus another. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Speed camera tickets
Whew! Well, once I didn't have toll money on an exit ramp in suburban Chicago, but I needed to get off the highway to *get* change. I sat on the shoulder for a few minutes, wondering what to do. Eventually, I just speed through the EZ-Pass. Thank goodness I didn't get a ticket. Perhaps they sensed my mistake and took sympathy, especially considering my out-of-state plates. ;)

Other States: Passenger Rail News
I certainly hope you will be able to find time to go to Times Square for a small gathering of New Years Festivities. :-) You can't be in New York then and not go... Oh, I have quite the trip ahead of me. Train from Cincy to NYC on Xmas Eve, commuter train from NYC to New Brunswick, NJ (near where I'll be for the 5 days during that week), commuter back to NYC, bus from NYC to Rochester and back, train from NYC to Chicago, and a bus from Chicago to Cincinnati. In short, I'll be in Cincinnati for New Year's Eve...by 90 minutes. ;)

Speed camera tickets
^That additional information helps me to understand it a bit more. Government intervention from a higher office could definitely cut administrative and wage costs in the long run, I believe. A resolution to give camera manufacturers a set monetary amount per year would work, and would probably extinguish any need to manipulate technology to get more money. As for the original post, I'm not sure why the ticket was sent so late after the violation. I'm sure that this could be refined in the future, so that violations could be transmitted and recorded electronically, and tickets could be printed and mailed immediately. I would be very pleased if such a process came to fruition.
