Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
Blue Line replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentThat's really a shame. I once went in there at about 10 til 3 to get a beverage. Other than that, I never once was able to make it in for lunch because their hours are so horrible. I don't work downtown, so I didn't get the chance like many other people might have. It's unfortunate--I really wanted to taste what they had to offer. Thanks a lot, Bartlett Building.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
^We've given up more points against than points we've scored in conference. Pitt has the clear upper hand.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Government Square
What does it matter if you have a car...coming from a former driver. If it's got what you want, you'll travel farther.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Government Square
Well, that's exactly what I'm saying. Why *wouldn't* someone just go to the mall locations? People might come down in numbers during the holidays "just for the experience", but that's not a good thing.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Government Square
^Exactly. What kind of message is that sending, and how many thousands of dollars of sales are lost at the Downtown store?

Cincinnati: Historic Photos
Thanks for taking the time to scan all this. It must have taken forever. The high-res scans really do put you right there. Right after that last photo, I was brought back to reality, and realize that development comes together so slowly anymore (not just from the economic downturn). And even with the slow development, we end up with garbage.

Other States: Passenger Rail News
I'd really be okay with a national sales tax of 0.5% to 1%, which would immediately put several infrastructure and rail projects in the "likely" column.

Beer You Go!: The Great Beer Thread
I picked up one of these from Ludlow Wine and Craft Beers last night. Very good!

Favorite Cincinnati Skyline spot?
Is that a pool or something? If so, I think I'd be scared to swim in it. It looks like it just drops off into death's hands.

Rethinking Transport in the USA
Could you please explain why? I don't really know anything about the guy.

Cincinnati: Downtown - Government Square
^But how many times have you gone to either of them in the past year? If not you, your wife/girlfriend.

Cincinnati: Red-light cameras
Call me stubborn, but I really don't buy the theory that they make the roads less safe. They don't have to be at every intersection, but accident prone corners...I feel that it would benefit the pedestrian. When conditions improve, they should be able to move them to new hot spots. I'm sure they can be done right.

Beer You Go!: The Great Beer Thread
^That sounds about right. Trappistes Rochefort 10 is 11.3% ABV, and it goes for $5.99/bottle.

You'll have to expound because that doesn't really tell me anything.

I wonder if The Party Source has Dogfish 120. I'd love to try it.

No one here voted against the ban?

As a regular pedestrian, I'm disappointed.

Beer You Go!: The Great Beer Thread
I'm absolutely shocked that you didn't enjoy (and rather hated) the Goose Island Matilda brew. What did you not like about it?

Running / Jogging Thread
I did find that biking hardcore distances does wonders for your endurance while running. I'm hoping to be able to get back on the bike on the 17th, so that I can complement my running routine. I was riding 31 miles twice per week and 20 miles thrice per week.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
You wouldn't be confusing this location for this project would you? http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,16080.msg283753.html#msg283753 That's about two blocks up the street, but this is a different site.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Yeah, it's certainly off-topic for this thread, but I'd still like to know more about the interchange project to which you are referring. Can someone find a link or another thread that talks about this interchange? You can see at the following link at is listed as "Priority 6" on OKI's 2030 plan recommendations: http://www.building-cincinnati.com/2008/01/qualls-submits-oki-2030-recommendations.html It can also be found in the Uptown Transportation Study (http://www.uptowntransportationstudy.org/)

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
That's what I heard too, but it just seems like a complete waste of money with the work that was already completed last year. What also comes to mind is the Jefferson/Vine intersection, which was also just completed. I think attention needs to be brought to those who are trying to push a widening project forward...that massive road projects will not solve our problems. In fact, I don't see much problem with MLK as it is now. We all know that the proposed interchange will spell chaos. Next thing you know, they'll turn that end of Bishop into a cul-de-sac. This is definitely off-topic, but there really isn't a thread for it right now.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
The three former residences on the corner of Martin Luther King Drive and Bishop St have been owned by the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees since 2001. No sign yet on any transfer of property, and the only thing I can wrap my head around for the parcels is a multi-story multi-family builiding.
