  1. That's a shame. I really hope they come up with a new plan for better airport accessibility. It's exactly what I love about Indy's service, and I haven't even ridden it yet. Maybe it's just me, but I'm excited in advance at knowing that I won't miss the shuttle. ;) I do see an opportunity for airport-oriented advertisements, if Columbus were to rethink things. Heck, it would even be to Port Columbus' benefit to front money for the service.
  2. Just consider it impulsing pessimism after witnessing so much having been torn down. I'm sure I'm not the only one, even though it's unfounded. :)
  3. That sounds really unfortunate. However, if Woody's does go under, would it be necessary to tear down the building. Surely another bar tenant could fill the space, no? Oh, and sorry for initially assuming that the building would be razed if Woody's closed. It just seems like there would be an excuse somewhere to do so.
  4. I'd just like to voice that it's ridiculous that COTA's Airport express route only runs during select days throughout the year. This is a far cry from what Cincinnati or (especially) Indy has in place. I think the IndyGo Green Line is amazing: $7 for a 24-hour express from downtown to the airport. I considered flying out of Columbus for a trip, but since the bus won't be running that day, it forced me to look elsewhere. No way I'd burn $20+ on a cab if I have other options. I just thought this should be a larger priority for Columbus, making it less difficult for non-drivers to get to thier international hub.

Personally, I haven't really noticed any decline in business in locally-owned coffee places. I'm assuming that people went and do go for the coffee...
  6. This is a little off-topic, but I'm just responding to your comment, 5chw4r7z. I'd say that they do need to adjust the routes. I see crosstown routes like the 39 bus to be very popular if they chose a better route. There are probably many other routes that are extremely underutilized. I would agree that some buses should have their termini in Uptown. Really, what we need are multiple transit centers.

Bravo! I made it for game one, but a rough week kept me at home for the rest of the series. I'm glad they could put it away!
  8. I would really be appalled if Uncle Woody's was sold and closed. Why would they possibly need MORE land for whatever project is on someone's dusty shelf?
  9. So much for a real discussion, Time. Your assumptions have already made it impossible.
  10. Ooh, thanks for the heads up. I'm glad they received more for sale. I should head down there before close.
  11. Well, I see that you're a hothead. I'll disregard that. I was being facetious with my comment about high school kids. Don't be so naive.
  12. Ahh, yes. Great input.
  13. I hate headlines like this one. For one, it's completely misleading, creating a misunderstanding that UC students particularly want to carry guns. The advocate happened to be from UC. Irrelevant to the max. Oh, and I'm paying tuition for more than just courses. I'd like to feel secure on campus if I'm paying thousands of dollars per year. What's next? Are we going to allow eighteen year olds to carry guns in high schools? Additionally, if someone has the motive to use a weapon on some students, they're going to do it with or without permit or regulation. Allowing someone to carry a gun legally on to campus would only create problems. Say an assassin starts opening fire on a group of students or faculty. Rambo with the permit will answer fire. Who's to say that he won't miss his target, this assailant? There's good reason why there aren't guns permitted in institutions in the first place. Let's not get silly.
  14. I couldn't be happier about this expansion of the program. Of course I'm speaking as a UC student, given. It was only a month ago that I headed to NKY for coffee, and it was such a hassle having to pay fare over there, given the student discount by one driver, rejected by another. We didn't have enough change on us sans discount, so we had to walk from 7th Street in Covington to Government Square. I'm glad I don't have to do THAT again!
  15. I think this was an incredible post. My sentiments exactly.
  16. So when are these wayfinders supposed to find their way to Uptown streets? I really dig the designs you provided. It seems like I've seen a similar design and color scheme before...
  17. Hey, thanks very much. It just worries me that we'll be thinking too much about the present and not enough about the future. Passenger rail has been a long time coming in making its return in the US. I'd hope that what happens follows a smart model for implementation and reasonable pricing for the passenger. Transit was never a profitable endeavor on its own. Time will tell if a connection between our Nation's Capitol and our Nation's great global enterprise is in our best interest. I sure hope it would be seen as such.
  18. Meanwhile, we'll be happy with our slow train while the rest of the industrialized countries are moving more than twice as fast as we are. Right *now* Americans are more worried about fares due to the state of our economy. When we get ourselves out of this mess, we don't want to be even further behind the global community, while even more substandard projects are pushed through the pipeline domestically. Whenever less tax money goes to expanding roadways, we'll have more than enough to allocate towards rail projects.
