Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
In the next couple of days I'm going to take some pics of recent rehabs and new builds on the Ohio City/Gordon Sq boarders. If you have driven down any of the streets from w44-w65 between Lorain and Detroit lately, you will be amazed at the amount of construction going on. These smaller developments don't get mentioned enough/a lot but the level of investment dollars totals up into the tens of millions. Stay tuned....

Cleveland: Midtown: Development and News
That's a bad location for a bike shop or any manufacturing. Residential makes much more sense there.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
There's not a lot here that makes much sense to me. You don't think payroll systems are sophisticated enough to be able handle processing paychecks to both salary and hourly jobs??

Columbus: Local Media News & Discussion
188 full- and part-time jobs affected by this move Columbus Dispatch announces move of print production to Indianapolis The Columbus Dispatch is moving its newspaper printing and production operation from the West Side to a sister facility in Indianapolis in March. Employees were told today that while the company is moving the location where The Dispatch is printed, it will not affect the daily publication of The Dispatch. Subscribers to the print edition will continue to receive home delivery. The consolidation of production operations has become common within the newspaper industry as a way to save money and preserve local journalism. https://www.dispatch.com/news/20200106/columbus-dispatch-announces-move-of-print-production-to-indianapolis?utm_source=web_push&utm_medium=referral

The project on 25th and Detroit is passed the aspiration stage.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Church+State (West 29th & Detroit Ave)
There's plans for a 12-15 story residential building on the NE quadrant of Det and 25th. Lorain and 20th is also another potential site of a 10+ story building. A successful completion of the Irish Bend park, Church & State and Market Square will push development in Ohio City into overdrive.

Electric Cars
Tesla short-sellers licking their wounds Elon Musk may finally be getting some revenge against his Tesla naysayers. Short-sellers, longtime haters of the billionaire's electric-auto company, were left licking their wounds after some positive commentary from one of Wall Street’s biggest skeptics, saddling them with $575 million in mark-to-market losses on Monday. Those betting against Tesla have now lost about $1.85 billion this year, according to the financial-analytics firm S3 Partners. Much of those losses have come in the final weeks of the year. https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/tesla-stock-short-sellers-licking-wounds

^ They closed in Steelyards too.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
"Holtzman’s plan? His goal is to start three new multifamily communities every year". This is the only phrase where he discusses growth. Could actually be good for Cleveland if they're talking about adding three new communities per year.

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Which numbers are you looking at? Buffalo's 1mi population is greater than cities such as Phoenix, Dallas, Austin and Columbus.
-
Cleveland: Random Development and News
It does? The only cities listed in the article were the ones that are currently under construction. No clues of future plans were mentioned for any city.
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
While that all may be true, it still doesn't make city to city comparisons fair. Just look at Buffalo for proof - how's their downtown retail scene?
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
^ Thanks, that is good stuff!
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
If someone has a natural advantage how does it make comparisons fair?
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
^ Unless all city's geographical barriers are the same, your comparisons are pointless, as others have noted. Comparing Cleveland of today vs 1950 makes more sense because of the like data points.
-
Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
By your logic, the argument for why a city performs well is also paper thin.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
There's no way 250 apartments can fit into two structures totaling only 91k sq ft. Must be a typo somewhere..

Cleveland: Population Trends
Bringing the discussion back on topic...this recent study regarding migration patterns illustrates what KFM44107 and others have said to be 100% true: https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/91fb/80824b49d9e8d4d86b1f2bbb1f3a20d9be40.pdf

Cleveland: Population Trends
I never posted how I felt about Geraldo. I just said he spends time and money in Cleveland proper. Nothing more, nothing less should be taken from my comments.

Cleveland: Population Trends
^ That's why I said "one out of many". He's at the Harbor Inn every Wednesday afternoon. If you're so concerned about how he spends his time and money in the city, go ask him.

True, but he does spend a lot of time and $$$ in Cleveland proper.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
My dad was a head coach from 1982 - 2003 at one of the most winning-est Ohio public high school programs during his tenure. I, myself played D1 football from 99-2003. I personally know many successful college and NFL coaches from the likes of Bill Cowher (my brother played for the Steelers) Bob Stoops, Jim Tressel and many more. I spent my summer and spring breaks as a youth interning for the Panthers when Dom Capers took over the expansion team. They're all great motivators and leaders of men, but they're not geniuses by any stretch of the imagination. They got to those positions by hard work and a deep love for the game. I still maintain that football isn't that complicated. I guarantee you could coach at any level if you wanted it bad enough. Most people don't and I don't blame them. The stories I've heard and my own experiences have kept me away from coaching after my playing days were over.
