Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Southwest Airlines continues slow growth at Cleveland Hopkins, with Milwaukee flight and more to come CLEVELAND, Ohio - Southwest Airlines launches its ninth year-round destination from Cleveland Hopkins next week, continuing a pattern of slow growth at the airport in the years following the shuttering of the United Airlines' hub. Southwest, the second largest carrier at Hopkins after United, begins twice-a-day nonstop service to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Sunday. It's a route that is already served by United, and marks a continued press by Southwest to cut into United's market share in Cleveland. http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2017/10/whats_next_for_cleveland_hopki.html#incart_river_home

Metro Cleveland: Road & Highway News
Is this in part because of the conversion of the West Shoreway? Yes. Traffic didn't vanish when the shoreway's capacity was reduced (e.g. one lane westbound yesterday). Just like squeezing a hose, it sprays everywhere. No. It doesn't have anything to do with shoreway. It's been like this for as long as I've lived off of Franklin (six years), and I'm sure much longer than that. Accidents are occurring more frequently during non-rush hour traffic and weekends. If someone is only traveling on Franklin to go, and get home from work, then they have no idea what the complaints regarding safety concerns are about.

Progressive Insurance to create 900 new jobs in Highland Heights expansion CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Progressive Corp. plans a $30 million expansion in Highland Heights, bringing 900 new jobs. The Mayfield-based insurer, which employs about 9,000 locally, was approved for a 12-year tax credit for nearly $63 million in new annual payroll. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority today said it approved a 2.35 percent job creation tax credit. In exchange, Progressive agrees to maintain the operations for at least 15 years. The expansion will also help retain nearly 10,000 jobs, according to Team NEO, the economic development organization focused on creating local jobs. Those retained jobs have a total payroll of about $819 million http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2017/10/progressive_insurance_to_creat.html#incart_m-rpt-1

Please share your ideas on traffic calming along Franklin Blvd so we can help make it safer for everyone. Those of us who live near or travel on Franklin daily know how serious of an issue this is. It's especially dangerous for bikers and pedestrians. Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Scott Wolstein eyes Flats East Bank phase three, other ventures after 5 years at Starwood Retail Flats East Bank July 2017 Developer Scott Wolstein hopes to break ground in the spring for the third phase of his Flats East Bank project on the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland. The first and second phases, including an office tower, apartments and restaurants, are visible across the water from the west bank of the Flats. (Gus Chan/The Plain Dealer) Print Email Michelle Jarboe, The Plain Dealer By Michelle Jarboe, The Plain Dealer Email the author | Follow on Twitter on September 29, 2017 at 1:22 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sitting on a patio in the Flats on a surprisingly sweaty late-summer afternoon, Scott Wolstein seemed relaxed despite the nearby bustle of valets, trains and boats. For the first time in five years, he's not commuting from Cleveland to Chicago for work every week. On Sept. 11, Starwood Retail Partners announced that Wolstein, 65, was stepping aside as chief executive officer. Though he'll stay involved as a senior advisor to the shopping-mall company's parent investment firm, Wolstein is free to do his own thing. In Cleveland, that means taking a more hands-on approach at the Flats East Bank, the riverfront project that's largely a legacy investment for Wolstein and his mother, Iris. He hopes to break ground in the spring for a third wave of development, which will include a high-end movie theater, restaurants and an apartment tower. http://realestate.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2017/09/scott_wolstein_eyes_flats_east.html#incart_river_home

Cleveland: Suburban Crime & Safety Discussion
2 officers, another person shot in Willoughby Hills WILLOUGHBY HILLS, OH (WOIO) - Two police officers and another person were injured following an officer-involved shooting in Willoughby Hills. All three are in stable condition, according to authorities. Chief Christopher Collins said around 2 p.m. Thursday, their officers were called by management to Classic BMW for a customer problem. Collins says management told police the customer was irate and may have been under the influence. "The dealership had not had any other contact with this customer before. They contacted us because he was acting, what they felt was, under the influence and that's when they responded here," Collins said. http://www.cleveland19.com/story/36477258/possible-officer-involved-shooting-in-willoughby-hills-classic-bmw?utm_content=bufferc88ff&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Those were F18 Hornets. As soon as I saw them fly by my TV went into some weird test mode for about 3min. My screen just turned blue with the words "Test Mode". I called a buddy who was driving and he said his Sirius XM radio shut off at exactly the same time.....It was very strange.

Cleveland Indians reach 2 million in tickets sold for first time since 2008 ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Nothing says revival in baseball like reaching the 2 million mark in attendance. The Indians announced Wednesday that they've sold 2 million tickets for the 2017 season for the first time since 2008. After this six-game West Coast trip, the AL Central champions return to Progressive Field for their final homestand of the regular season against Minnesota and the White Sox from Sept. 26 through Oct. 1. The team said that attendance has increased on a per-game basis 30 percent over last year and 42 percent over 2015. The Indians drew 1,591,667 last year and 1,388,905 in 2015. http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2017/09/cleveland_indians_reach_2_mill.html

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
From the CMSD site: Do both The Board and Cleveland City Council have to accept or reject the proposal, or will it go forward if only one body agrees? Cleveland City Council has the final say and can approve the proposal without The Board’s consent. http://www.clevelandmetroschools.org/nucleus

^It most be something different. I even heard Eric Gordon tell the audience at the Zone rec center meeting that even if the board voted it down, city council could still approve it. Cleveland City Council has the ultimate vote on any tax-increment financing plan and actually approved a much leaner tax-increment financing arrangement for nuCLEus two years ago. But legislation related to the updated proposal, and other potential city funding, hasn't been introduced yet. http://realestate.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2017/08/cleveland_school_board_delays.html

It's still not clear, however, how binding the board's vote on the project later this month will be. City Council has the final say under state law and council members have declined to commit to following the board's decision. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2017/08/nucleus_tax_deal_goes_to_cleveland_school_board_tonight_city_council_wont_commit_to_backing_board.html

Cleveland has the greatest fans in all of baseball. It rains unicorns all day long at the Prog. ;) I agree. 2nd highest local TV ratings, and largest y-o-y attendance increase in all of baseball.
