  1. If this were factual then downtown Cleveland wouldn’t contain the fastest growing census tract in NEO over the last two decades. People with means aren’t leaving the city, they’re moving into it.
  2. Signage for Welleon’s first tenant has gone up.
  3. They're known as useful tools. Hitler had those too.
  4. Literally the same mindset that made them feel entitled enough to assault the US Capitol after losing an election.
  5. Yes, it was. An attempt to assassinate the sitting VP and House Speaker equates to a bit more than a temper tantrum. Any honest, unbiased critical thinker would agree. Your ability to whitewash GOP terrorism is just as impressive as your talent for brushing aside inconvenient truths.
  6. Oh really? Since you seem to always have it all figured out what have you done today to help the homeless guy standing down on the corner? To help your local drug addict get their life together? To help your elderly neighbor make sure she's got enough food and isn't felling all alone? Conservatives love to talk where's your action?
  7. Providing .5 spots per unit isn’t concerning, it’s common sense and a sign of progress.
  8. Here's the Frontier hiring details: 110 - Pilots 250 - FA's 50 - Ground/Maintenance 50+ - inside airport jobs In total, close to 500 jobs and an additional 80M in local wages (annually).
  9. These people can't fathom that they're the authoritarian minority.
  10. Freedom won some today. Authoritarianism lost some. Here's hoping the next time they meet, Freedom wins again.
  11. The hard-right shift has awoken the young voters, this victory and Andy's win in Kentucky tonight are the first big signs of a changing of the guard.
  12. In 2023 you’re absolutely correct. Planners are looking into the 2030 - 2040 time frame.
  13. That’s the ultimate goal. There continue to be ongoing discussions and planning at county & state levels to propagate and incentivize mergers over time. Politically, we’re not as far as off as some like to pretend. Heck, public positions directly related to regionalization in Cuyahoga Co have already been created and filled.

  16. Not only did he hold up development and overall progress of the city, he made Cleveland less safe. They know:
  17. SHW just announced Heidi Petz as their new CEO, effective 1/1/24.
  18. Cleveland hotel rates among Top 5 highest in U.S. this month, survey says CLEVELAND, Ohio – A travel booking site says Cleveland has the fourth most expensive hotel rates in the country this month – higher than San Francisco and Seattle, Nashville and Chicago. A recent survey of online hotel rates found that the average price of an overnight stay in Cleveland is $234 in October, up from $187 last year, according to Cheaphotels.org. Only Boston ($303), New York City ($288) and Austin, Texas ($257) are higher. https://www.cleveland.com/travel/2023/10/hotel-rates-in-cleveland-are-among-highest-in-us-this-month-according-to-online-survey.html
  19. Large employers aren’t interested in moving here because they don’t want to play politics and review 59 proposals from 59 mayors who are all competing against one another. They’re looking for a regional government to work with because of the collective subsidies that can pulled together. I just hired a guy who relocated to CLE from Capetown, South Africa. We can attract talent. The question is, can we train and provide public transit to those who are already here and are in need of jobs the most?
  20. Some of the cities listed were ones you cited, such as Austin, that are supposedly doing so much better than Cleveland. When in reality, we’re right up there with many of the largest and growing metros in the US.
  21. We’re doing pretty good, actually: Could we be doing better? Absolutely.
  22. There is no correlation between levels of prosperity and population growth,” said Richey Piiparinen, director of urban theory and analytics at CSU’s College of Urban Affairs. “You have these fast-growing cities that are just living off their local economy … consumption activity.” Here is a comparison of per capita gross domestic product for the Cleveland metro area to the seven fastest growing of the large metro areas nationally from 2001 through 2021: Phoenix, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Orlando, Charlotte, Austin and Houston.Rich Exner, cleveland.com Piiparinen discovered the positive note for Cleveland and other once industrial-driven northern economies in digging into the first-ever release of county-level gross domestic product data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Some highlights: * In the CSU study of 14 large metro areas, including Cleveland, the per capita GDP for the Sun Belt edged $1,400 higher than the Rust Belt by the start of the recession in 2007. But since then the Rust Belt has done consistently better, and now has an advantage of $59,073 to $54,604 over the fastest-growing Sun Belt metros. * Cleveland metro area’s per capita real GDP increased from $49,280 to $58,010 during this same time period, now ranking 70th among 384 metros nationally. Cincinnati is 81st and Columbus is 96th. For Cleveland, this covers Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties.
  23. These don't show real wage or GDP growth, and the first link is mostly dedicated to small cities with only 2 slides of data for "big" cities. 2nd Link: I fully realize Cleveland's population as a whole, isn't growing....yet.
  24. As of last year, Cleveland was in the top 15 in wage growth: https://thehill.com/homenews/nexstar_media_wire/3567472-the-us-cities-where-wages-are-growing-fastest-and-where-theyre-shrinking/ There’s been little evidence or sources provided by those who are supposedly speaking the “truth”.
  25. Can you post sources for the growth metrics you’re using (by metro) for both GDP and wages?
