  5. K&D Group closes financing package for Halle Building's redo   The first tenants are expected to move into apartments at downtown Cleveland's Halle Building after April 1 of next year. That's the word from K&D Group as it slips into high gear in the construction phase of the $60 million renovation of the office building in the former department store to mixed uses. The hulking structure at 1228 Euclid Ave. opened its doors as a department store in 1908 and became an office building in 1985. K&D Group CEO Doug Price said the schedule calls for moving the last tenant by the end of summer next year. Price discussed the schedule after K&D Group and lenders put the finishing touches on a financial package for the project. http://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20170622/NEWS/170629909/kd-group-closes-financing-package-for-halle-buildings-redo

  7. I'm not surprised, knocking Cleveland is so 2015.
  8. ^It went in front of design review on 5/11, not sure of the outcome. I do know they are hoping to break ground late 2017.
  9. ^^The facade on that side isn't finished yet, and 75% of the building is dedicated to the brewery.

  11. Retail decline continues with closure of Lane Bryant, Loft, Ann Taylor and Justice stores CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The company behind popular clothing shops like Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant announced earlier this week that it plans to close hundreds of stores throughout the country, continuing a downward trend that's gripped conventional retailers in the digital age. Ascena Retail Group, which also owns chains like Justice, LOFT, Maurices and Catherines, said Monday that it would close between 250 and 650 stores, although it's unclear if it will shutter any stores in Greater Cleveland. The closures are the result of a revenue slide brought about by online competition, Ascena's CEO said http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2017/06/retail_decline_continues_with.html

  13. Good news!! Kerry McCormack‎ to Ohio City Crime Watch 7 mins · Cleveland · Good morning. Last night there was another break in on Lorain Avenue in the West 70's with a similar MO as the others that have happened on Lorain and Detroit. The good news is that Second District officers made two arrests. One of the arrests was the person breaking in to 7646 Lorain and the other was nearby and suspected to be on the verge of another B & E on Lorain. I would ask everyone to keep their eyes open for this activity, as we don't know if the two arrested are the entire group. Big thanks goes out to Commander Stacho and our 2nd District officers for staying on this!
  14. The same thing happened about 6mo ago to some storefronts along Lorain. Three 14yr old's were finally arrested in connection to the window crimes. They were using slingshots loaded with frozen meatballs.

Right. Whether or not Cleveland is particularly 'liberal' would depend on what your definition of 'liberal' is. This town has to still be union heavy. Thank God it's over but I dealt with well over a month of construction at the intersection where my house sits. Construction takes forever up here! First they were fixing power/cable lines, then they resurfaced the asphalt (as opposed to concrete so they'll just have to re-do it soon and blow labor on it again in a couple years) and THEN they decided to bust up the sidewalks at the same intersection! The sidewalks weren't even bad! I'd peak out my blinds and see 5 guys huddled in a circle, eating sandwiches, watching one guy dig a hole. I told my girlfriend I'm sorry if I'm cranky but this has been going on for so long and I'm tired of waking up early in the morning to a jackhammer. She goes, "Now you know what I go through!" I was like, "Oh... :-o " So you're admitting that NEO is different than other places you've lived in Ohio? Kudos to you for finally coming around!

It's still more progressive than the rest of the state as a whole, and twice as dense.

I lived in Columbus from 2004-2008, and my company's corporate HQ is in Kenwood. I'm in Cincinnati 3-4 times a month. IMHO It's just different up here. Why are southern Ohioans so insecure about it?

If you think Northern Ohio is similar to Southern Ohio than you haven't lived in Cleveland long enough. Give it time...
